Lloyd90
Is it ok to have gravel in a dog run ?
Imperfection
You could, but it would make cleaning a pain and might not be entirely comfortable for the dog 24/7.Paving slabs are the commonest method as they're easier to disinfectant and can be hosed down. Lloyd90
How would gravel be hard to clean ? I was thinking you could just scoop/pick up the poop n hose it down It wouldn't be for 24/7. Just the odd times that we would be out. A couple hours at a time. The longest the dog would be left is about 8 hours every friday That's why Id like to get a secure run so the dog will be safe and not confined in her crate Also the dog will prob be sleeping in a kennel in the run now that she's a bit older
fortune82
I mostly have paving slabs in my run but there is one area about 2x2 feet of deep gravel. The dog pees in it and then every few days I hose it down to dilute it! The gravel is about a foot deep!

To each their own though. Edited September 20, 2009 by Imperfection
deeksofdoom
Just to give you an idea this is my dog run. I put down concrete and their is a slope in it to allow the whiz to flow into the drain which is connected to the sewer. I have cow matting for them to lie on instead of concrete. I give it clean every day ad disinfect it once a week. Gravel would be an absolute disaster and would smell like a stink pit.
rickyspringer
the run above is very smart well done on it bud, gravel is a complete **** my garden was gravelled and it was a horror, not practical in my opinion. Flags are easy to get hold of bud, you can get them free if you look hard enough.
