goldeneye243
I am looking to get a leather gun slip to look after my gun on my syndicate shoots. I have currently got a canvas slip bit I find it awkward to carry when I am walking a drive up as it doesn't hold it's shape, so a stiffer leather one seems a good idea. Anyone have a Guardian Luxian Elite that they can comment on? It seems to be one of the cheaper ones and it looks ok....
archi
I went for a springer cottage slip and can't fault it Just don't like the leather and stitching in the guardian

happy.plinker
goldeneye243, what about keeping a thin bamboo cane or a thin wooden dowell the length of your gun or longer in the slip,it'll keep in shape when your guns out,and hopefully wont damage your gun when its in, or is that a naff tight *** suggestion? Pillower
I have a friend that's just bought the Guardian and my analysis is that it's 'o.k' but nothing more. The fake fleece lining and overly shiny leather looks a little tacky to me, that said they are quite cheap and I'm sure in time they will look better, but in my experience it can take a while for the slips to fade. My endorsement for best value must go to Fur Feather and Fin. I currently own: Charlton Leather Gunslip Charlton Leather Cartridge Bag Large Leather Holdall & Speed Loader Cartridge belt. So it's fair to say I'm a fan of their stuff. The gunslip is no exception; http://www.furfeathe...ml#.UKF93OOTtPo Pros: Good build quality. Acrylic 'Fleece' lining is fast drying, but also looks quite genuine. Reasonably Priced Cons: Some people prefer a darker leather (They have a new slip called the Sandringham which is considerably darker http://www.furfeathe...ml#.UKF8mOOTtPo ) Does 'crinkle' slightly and the fit for side by sides is not perfect, that said I quite like this as it makes the slip look older faster. Very precise build quality - Personally I like this but it does mean it doesn't look very hand made (For reference I looked at a Moss cartridge bag at the game fair and the badge was slightly skew-if, some people like that but personally I prefer neatness) That said a friend of mine has just bought one of these and it's very swish also! http://www.sportsman...tgun Slip LGS3/ Edited November 12, 2012 by Pillower
simjakcal
I have been looking at those - is it quite rigid? wudnt say rigid as such its leather,,, it does easily fold in half when i chuck it in the back of my jeep...and its well thick enuff and fur lined for plenty of protection.. Earl820
While looking for a gun slip as a xmas present for my dad I can across these two: http://www.winterfieldsafes.co.uk/shooting-accessories/gun-slips-gun-cases/shotgun-slips-cases/heritage-52-canvas-shotgun-slip-with-leather-trim.html http://www.gunslips.com/product/51-inch-elite-leather-shotgun-slip-with-fleece-lining/ Cannot decide between a guardian heritage canvas case or a leather one. Which would be best as a present? He mainly clay shoots if that makes a difference. Any feed back would be great Edited November 20, 2013 by Earl820
