Normal rule of thumb is move up 2 shot sizes with steel, personally I would be looking at 4's if you are shooting them over decoys or splashes and 3's if you are flighting them. Gamebore steels are one of the the best available, the super steel is a non high performance cartridge so in smaller shot sizes with not too much choke suitable for most guns, the next up in the range is the 3" mammoth cartridges which are a very good cartridge.

We had an interesting result when plucking out some birds shot last weekend. My mate was useing gamebore 3 inch steel 3s. most of the shots were 30-40 yard range at wigeon and mallard. The majority of pellets from game bore 32 gr no 3 had passed well into the body with quite a few passing through the birds. About a quarter of the duck had broken wings. The gamebore 32 gr number 5s were a very different story. none had penertrated the body cavity and most had lodged just under the skin. Only pellets that had hit the neck and head had killed the birds. No broken wings despite several hits.

Clearly the No 3s were the best shell for the job.

Yeah I could ideally do with a cartridge I could use for wildfowl and pigeon. That's why I was thinking of super steel carts.

Yeah mate I do now again it's getting good up there now.

I like the chorus, it's catchy.
