demonwolf444
Some of you may know i have a little springer and she's about a year and a month old, she's been really good recently so i have been thinking if she could just see some stuff dropping to the gun everything might click in to place. I'm hardly aiming for a fully and perfectly trained gun dog, more a field companion who will quarter in front of me and will do some retrieving. Anyway usually once or twice a week i sit on the flight line and shoot some corvids for ferret food, yet every time i take the dog the sky is devoid of any winged beasts. This was one of those outings. The pictures show a spaniels excitement turn to boredom as she realizes her owner has taken her paddock standing. When we arrived: She sits on the peg quietly and watches every bird pass by, she was being taunted for a full two hours by all the swallows which were dive bombing and soaring on the wind the whole time we were sat there. I had been at the hospital all afternoon, first having my eyes x rayed to make sure i had no metal in them and then having an MRI scan, I'm not really sure why i needed the scan something to do with looking to see if my nerves are damaged in my ears, i have sensitive hearing and now noise induced hearing loss from foolishly not using hearing protection when using power tools, shooting, an nightclubs. Aged 19 I'm getting two hearing aids, it doesn't bother me as anything is better than not being able to hear the whole time which is really frustrating, but a warning to others perhaps. After two hours i think we were both equally bored, though there are worse ways to spend two hours, clear blue skies and suns and a display from the swallows and the buzzards and hawks swirling about over head was nice to see anyway. While i wait all year for the pheasant season, this is the best time of year for seeing the land alive with activity, we have goslings on the flight pond for the first time, and pairs of french and english partridge doing well, and decent amounts of wild pheasants breeding. Even the garden ( parents house! ) is in full bloom to the tune of bird song and rooks leaving the rookery. Think my next outing may be rabbit shooting at dawn with the air rifle, or squirrels in the canopy with black powder. James.

malkiserow
As a fully qualified dog whiperererererer I can tell you what she is trying to say to you........... 'You are really not that good at this shooting malarkey are you' Lol As UD says, she is learning a difficult lesson for spaniels in particular. JDog
Being out with you and learning to sit around is much better for the young dog than being in a pigeon hide and being asked to retrieve lots of pigeons.
