henry c
I am considering re-loading .410 cartridges and wondered if anyone else on here does it? what sort of loads can be achieved? Is it possible to do by hand? how easy is it? and what sort of start up costs would i be looking at? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
BlaserF3
Is this http://www.fourten.org.uk/ any good?
henry c
I've been looking at that but was really after some personal experiences from people who load their own and if its worth doing. Thanks for your reply though.
bruno22rf
maybe not much help to you but-MANY years ago while i was at school my shooting buddy and I bought a .410 for £4 with half a box of ancient cartridges and used it on rabbits. We couldnt afford new cartridges for it but my mates dad ran a clay shooting club and every sunday when there was a shoot on we used to "whisk away" a box or two of 12's.Armed with a philips screwdriver and a pair of pliers we would re-load our precious baby shells using loo paper as wadding -they worked a treat and were much quieter than standard shells (we used teaspoons as measures.) Like i say-not much use to you but your thread brought log forgotten memories flooding back-thank you.
Andy H
I use 7 grains of vectan A1 with 1 1/2 15 mm cork wads with 12 grams of shot and rto with a cx 1000 primer in a 2 1/2" case for general shooting or reduce it to 6 grains of A1 for subsonic 980-1030fps . If you only use cases that have been fired in your gun then you should not need to resize the cases and you can then reload without using a press then you can use scoops and a set of scales for the powder. Thats the problem i had, I collected the used hulls from a clay ground, reloaded them and they wouldnt fit in the breech of my gun. I did manage to fire a few off. I loaded 1/2 oz of shot with 12 grns of lil gun and 209 primers. its more cost effective than reloading 12 bore stuff and you can load what ever shot size you want but i found it a ball ache. you also need a roll over tool for closing the cases they are really expensive. Andy H
You can also get the Mag Tec 410 brass cases from peter lawman in northampton or midway uk , They use an oversize wad and card which you can get from Wads incorporated in the uk , http://www.wadsincorporated.com/home/ They use a large pistol primer and you do not crimp the ends only glue the card over the shot , here is a link on how to reload the brass cases and it gives details on wad/card sizes and required tools also links to Pete Lawman and midway uk. http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?p=692894 http://www.peterlawman.co.uk/shotshell.php http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/ebrowse.exe/b...5+***+11462+***
