Hodmedod.one
Saw a Tawny Owl sat in the middle of the road tonight. Stopped the car and picked him up. Broken left wing near the shoulder. Probably flew into the power lines at the side of the road. Phoned the RSPCA and arranged to drive 10 miles to meet one of their guys. He took one look at it and said "all I can do is put it down". I suppose it was what I expected, but what a p*sser when apart from it's wing it didn't have a feather out of place. Oh well, at least it didn't die suffering in the cold. Merry Christmas.

Cranfield
The RSPCA seems to have changed its whole reason for being. If they can't make money out of it, they won't do it. There is no profit in mending wild birds wings........now, if it was a nice parrot that they could repair and sell on for a few hundred quid, or a stray(free) dog they could sell for a similar amount, they would have been with you before you put the telephone down. I wouldn't give the RSPCA a penny.
mel b3
about ten years ago we took our old dog to the rspca after our own vet told us he couldn't help him,the best help they offered was to put it down for us for iirc£50 :< up until that time my wife had been making a charitable payment by direct debit every month ,that was knocked on the head immediatley, thankfully we eventually found a vet that could deal with it . i'm with cranfield on this one,if they can't sell it or get a few pictures with rolf harris they aint interested :<
