It also depends on the wood too you can't make a nasty lump of pine look that good :/

 

You can buy a propper finishing kit to bring out the grain and depth of wood but mostly it depends on the quality of the wood it's self.

 

Nice job a London grade stock :yp:

Sorry lads, I put up a picture for somone who had scratched a stock and wanted to know how to get rid of the white mark. I should not have just posted the picture but explained what I was doing :no:

 

It's not a bad pice of wood for a silver pigeon 3, took me a long time to find one. The finish in the picture was achieved using a CCL professional finish kit. It is a time consuming job and really needs to be done in a dust free enviroment. I used the garage, not ideal :no: It also dosn't help if just after you've put the final finish coat on, your daughter grabs hold of the stock to move it out of the way to get to her sports stuff :no:

 

Done another since with the napier kit which is easier but does not fill the grain as well, I think i might be able to do better next time :no:
