JONO
Hi all, My dad is lending my ticketed brother his old spanish side by side on a long-term loan. Am I right in thinking that if the gun is out of my dad's hands for more than 72 hours it comes under the "transfer" legislation? ie My dad needs to inform his constabulary via letter and my brother will need to inform his as well as sending off his ticket to have it modified to reflect the change. Thanks Jon

CharlieT
He does not have to send his SGC off. Only needs to advise police by letter. CT

Heppy1148
Yes you are dead right, but your bro does not need to sent his ticket, i do this regular and it is simple. Your father simply writes on your bro's ticket the transfer details etc. Then your dad sends a letter to the police giving them all the details ie who from, who to, gun details, and type of transfer. Remembering that it will still stay on your fathers ticket as it is just on loan. buts needs to state so on his own ticket. If you are still uncomfortable simply ring you firearms licensing dept and they will be more than happy to help, and in doing so you will be verbally informing them of the transfer too. Any probs give me a shout, take care.
