  1. Some of you seem a bit confused as to their composition and how tracers work....... At the back/base part of the bullet, it contains a compound that is ignited by the powder charge of the round. Depending on what colour is desired, the compounds main metallic constitute is changed. On most 7.62 RG tracers this is evident from about 92m out to around 800m and about 400m max for the 5.56 tracers. The tip is purely paint so they are distinguishable from 'normal' rounds. Are for ricochets they do bounce more than normal FMJ rounds, but often it is just the tracer compound at the back that breaks off and goes skyward.
  2. £160-£180 with the cartridges. Thats what I got mine for anyway....
  3. Guessing he's foreign. So his English is better than my French
  4. I agree with most of your post, but the bit I highlighted simply doesn't apply to .223's. A .233/5.56x45 will last 3,000+ rounds, with upto 10,000+ rounds not being uncommon. Compared to my latest .300 magnum, that I will be lucky to get 800 rounds out of.
  5. Ah those drops are huge, compared to the Talbot With a 250grain .338 solid at 4,500fps the figures look like this: 100 = 0" 10,600 ftlbs 400 = -6.9" 8,800 ftlbs 600= -22" 7,778 ftlbs This is a min load, you can get another 1,000fps with the max load Is that flat enough!
  6. Suppose I'd better enter into the spirit of things and say a .338-50 firing a 160grain mono-soild bullet, would be pretty flat to start with.....
  7. This has got to be one of the daftest questions in a while .
  8. I'm sorry but that is way out. The B.C. for the 17v-max is 0.125 not that of a 155grain Scenar Think you'll find the drop is a fair bit more than shown.
  9. I have an NXS 5.5-22x56 on mine, out to 220/240 body shots on a perfectly still day with a good batch of ammo. 300 yards seems a bit OTT for the HMR....
  10. Less recoil, often no need for so much lead and easier to moderate.
  11. They will do 1/2 MOA with good handloading. But they are a bit of a 'cheap & tacky' version of the TRG in many ways. At T3 Tactical money I'd look for a S/H tricked up remy 700 or a new sps varmint in an AICS.
  12. A Sako TRG in .308 would be a good start :( I've got TRG's in .308, a 30cal wildcat magnum and .338LM .
  13. I tend to use my sling and if possible always adapt natures natural rests. Failing that I've found plenty of time in the gym, helps me hold my 15lb rifle stead enough using a 3 point sling.
  14. .50 AIAW, just got to get a couple more grand together first!
  15. 0.125 (+/- 0.002) for the 17grain V-MAX at HMR velocities.
  16. Would you consider rephrasing that please! I'm no Vasily Zaytsev....but I do shoot regulaly at 1,000 yards and far beyond. Managed to pick up one or two prizes in the process.....
  17. Hi, the reason being the brass will almost definitely be not that consistent or as good a quality as Lapua. Depends at what level you shoot really, in competitions at any distance or at 600 to 1,000+yards you want every edge you can get At 100-200 yards on foxes it's unlikely to be a major factor.
  18. Interesting use of the word fullbore, think full barrel would be better to avoid confusion....... I have a full barrel .410 hushpower and it is much better than the 9" version. Certainly helped by the barrel being ported.
  19. For the record nearly all of it is made in the same factory!!!! It all comes down to batch consistency and not the brand.
  20. I've got 2 sets of New unused RCBS FL die sets for .50 BMG 1-1/2" P/N: 30001 The same as in the MidwayUK link below: https://www.midwayuk.com/apps/eproductpage....leitemid=767229 They go for around $250-350 in the US, so I'm asking £100 posted per set.
  21. Remington are very bad at batch consistency. Winchester have strange internal volumes. Norma, Nosler and Sako are often too soft. RWS is good but can be expensive. So that leaves Lapua - Simply the best!
  22. They are nice guns, good to shoot and accurate enough. However they are way way over priced. Make AI look like cheap! Plus they have a stupid marketing ploy, with the civilian rifle having a shorter barrel making it 'less dangerous'! In any case with the distinct lack of good bullets for them its a bit of a non-starter at the moment. Once that's addressed, I'll get my .408 built Oh good video all the same
