  1. Floater, I cant quote pressures on factory loads, the shell Manufacturers will ensure they are safe, im sure they will have all the knowledge required to produce a safe shell. As for the loads i use, its a published load from the RSI manual, number 64, 850 p.s.i. So are you saying that thousands of published load data is dangerous ?? Where does it say on the Hull advert what pressure the shells are ? Where does it say on a box of shells what the bar is ?? You obviously have more knowledge than every cartridge manufacturer, or every book writen.
  2. Dont believe what it says on the tin. Last year i put loads of shells over the chrono and pattern plate to see which manufacturer is producing the best steel duck loads. What i found as an eye opener. Express hunting steel came out the worst for speed with an average of 935fps Hull steel game came out at 1200fps Bonarghi came out on top at 1335fps. My steel homeloads came out at 1425fps which gives ample velocity and pattern very well.
  3. Well done, thats a cracker
  4. Well done mate, cracking bucks and photos
  5. Sadly this was the last retrieve from my old springer, now gone to pastures new at the good age of fourteen seasons. It was a good retrieve from the old dog, this goose was just wing tipped and made it back out onto the mud, it was just able to take off and fly a few yards before landing again. She jumped up and caught it in flight, just getting hold of a wing.
  6. Putting a 10 bore wad down a 12 bore barrel, is that wise ?
  7. Well done with the bucks, the big lad is a cracker Its good to see you are still getting out and grassing a few. Nice photos as well.
  8. I will have no 3 please, size 9 boots (medium)
  9. I shot with your dad and steve jock, for about 10 or 11 years when i was in Barrow-in-furness wildfowlers. He was a good shot and very experienced wildfowler. I have a very good photo taken in scotland when we had a few days with the late Percy Betts Im just not sure of the names on the photo, from what i can remember its; Steve, Dave, another Steve (with a muzzle loading four bore), Paul and oggy ?? I took the photo. We had a good few days, didnt shoot much, but had some laughs. I hope you carry on wildfowling its a good sport, and also keep up with your rugby, paul told me how well you were doing. Steve jock keeps in touch, we ring each other up several times per season for an up-date on how we are getting on, im now shooting with Morecambe Bay so dont get up your way any more. john.
  10. Can you view anything on youtube ?? It could be a problem with your pc set-up ??
  11. I spotted this lad while out stalking yesterday, he dropped down on the wrong side of the wall Its always a tough call when your out stalking, to shoot and ruin your chance of a deer, or take aim and squeeze.
  12. There is a photo in the photo section Oh and its a bitch, the dog that is, not life.
  13. Yep, cant see me ever quitting. Its dead mans shoes to get in. I met a bloke last week that i have never seen before, he asked if we could walk out accross the marsh together (it was 6am)as he wasnt sure where to go, i thought he must be a new member ? so naturaly that was fine. After the flight was over and we met back at the motors it turned out the reason he was a bit unsure where to go was because its been 10 years since the last time he visited the marsh, so you can see how dificult it can be to get in.
  14. Very good, and good shooting. I wish i hadnt seen it now though, cos i want one, lol.
  15. Cheers lads, a bit more info on the gun, Its an eight bore made by FT Baker aprox 1870-1880?, proofed for 2,1/4oz with a generous 3,3/4" chamber, I had some brass cases made to fit the chamber, and i am loading her up with Tungsten, sealed with an over shot card and silicon sealant. Photos of the case to follow asap.
  16. Now we are into February its time to take the big gun out a bit more. I got lucky yesterday putting two pinks in the bag.
  17. It was a good flight this morning, the geese side-slipping the wind making them dificult shooting. This one was hit (lung shot) and turned to go back out onto the mud, only to drop out about 100yds away, the dog was sent after the flight finished.
