  1. With my sprokers when they were young, they had all manner of problems when young and still had up to 18mths-2yrs particuly limping, most things will dissapear and indeed will grow out of them.....you have him listened to in a year and you may well be pleasantly surprised, dont forget the dog is only 8 weeks old everything is still developing.........one word of advice DONT train the dog on short grass it will get board very quickly and start to range out to far and revert to type, dont forget that these dogs were used to spring game for the lord of the manor when hawking, start it on the whistle now at feeding time...........

  2. Hi ditchamn

I tend to sow/grow F1 hybrid all female variety. Sometimes ( very rarely ) they produce male flowers if the greenhouse becomes too hot , these need to be removed asap. This normally happens when the greenhouse becomes far too hot and the palnts become stressed ! Ventilation sorts this out.

Traditional type of Cucumbers. I used to remove all male flowers to prevent pollination of the female flowers sostopping bitter tasting cucumbers.

Outdoor varieties , which ive grown either in a cool greenhouse or more so in a sheltered and sunny location. Outdoor types need the male flowers on the plant as the female flowers require pollination.

My biggest problem has always been Mildew on the leaves with the damp summers

Thanks for that, the conservertory hasnt been hot and steamy this year so far.....all the flowers so far ( 6 of them ) are male, so i have nipped them off, loads of buds on them so will have to wait if the female ones appear...watch this space

  3.

I've got courgettes growing in a tub outside New Seagrave Towers, and so far this year I've had about a dozen flowers. All of which have been male.

I would love to have something to pollinate, but I suppose I will just have to be patient...

I'm with Malk on this one - leave the conservatory doors open and let the insects do their thing.

the reason i posted this is that i have been told that if you grow inside cucumbers (they are a diff' strain) you must pick the male flowers off as they will taste bitter...........now when you grow outside cuc's you let mun nature do her stuff..............how the heck can i tell if they are inside or outsde cuc's ....look at "the completegarderners, web blog " site....... and yes i threw the bloody packet away ( they came from an african country) so i will prob' get locked up now !!!

  4. Im growing cucumbers in my conservertory i dont know if they are an indoor or outdoor variety, i have been told if it is an indoor type i must pinch the male flowers out to stop the cucumbers tasting bitter, if it is an outdoor type i must polinate what do i do ?

If the weather dosnt start to warm up as the air tenp' needs to be 68 deg' i will bear that in mind .............

  6. Had that happen to a spaniel of mine a long while ago.....luckerly i think i saw how it happened...she raked her spine going under a gate...she was fine the rest of the day but in the eve when i touched her she would squeal it was terrible..got her down to the vets and they put her on i think Metacam...an anti inflammatory...it took a couple of weeks before she was right again.........

  7. It wont be long before someone twigs on and starts producing new engines to the 'old' spec as to accept bio fuels. Failing that you could always trasnplant an older engine or just buy an older car? Its deffinately the future, esspecially for anyone that wont be driving round the city all day in hybrids.

Be very wary of putting bio-desiel in older cars the seals and diaphrams that come into contact with it perish and go gloopy....my mate is a boiler engineer and more and more he is getting called out for leaking pumps and perishished "o" rings etc....nothing wrong with biofuels except the seal technology needs to catch up...........

  8. There is a wheel kit for it, think it comes with handles, so its like a 2 wheeled barrow, as to weight it is a struggle for one person but easy with a mate on the other end.

i got it from Just generators in n.norfolk so they should have a wheel kit in stock

  11. open up the bleed screw on the injector pump and you should get a fine jet of fuel come out, if you dont turn the enjine to get the arm off the back of the cam, and try again, if you cant get the pressure to form a jet ..then change the filter, filters swell up and block the fuel if they get water in them, if it still dosnt work check the fuel lift pump like the other boys said....sounds like a fuel problem defo...........

  12. I am going to have a crack at repainting my Series 2a too. Its already Deep Bronze Green but needs a tidy up.

  13. What is the most reliable make of petrol/2 stroke driven strimmer ?

I have bought cheap in the past and am fed up with them only lasting a couple of years, the current one I have is a McCullough and I have carburettor/gasket problems almost every time I use it.

There must be some professionals out there who know whats what.

if you want to splash out go...Stihl......ive always used Ryobi, dont get the 25cc get the basic 30cc model.....thats my opinion daresay others may disagree......

  14. All the other guys are spot on...find someone who does it for a living or go to classes...........what i will say is make sure you choose your commands and how you whistle and pin it up on the fridge so EVERYONE children included are singing from the same hymn sheet its no good you saying "situp" and the missus saying "sssiitt".

Choose your whistle and recall style and use it at feeding times ...starting now

apart from that get someone to teach you better that me !!
