  1. Just as a point of interest, I've watched George Digweed shooting driven Grouse and Pheasants and he was using Pigeon Extremes on both occasions. I know he's sponsored by them but they must be his cartridge of choice from within the Gamebore range. I found them very good but they didn't seem to hit stuff at the range his were! Must have been a dodgy batch!!
  2. Let us know what you think of the place on wed Nicky. We're maybe just a bunch of moaners!!!!
  3. We've talked about trying coniston for a while now and its the same mileage from our part of the world so i think we'll give it a try next time we have an away day. Imagine it's afew quid cheaper aswell! Kellbrook charge plenty and have full time staff so they have no excuse.
  4. I'm surprised at that. If you look amongst the bushes and under some of the decking. (especially the raised platform at the lake) they are full of rusty carts and soggy boxes. If they kept the place tidier people would be more inclined to use the buckets! I've been going for a long time and enjoy the targets but the place does need some effort put in. I hate to see trees blasted with shot and when the rabbit runs 10yds then up a heap of clays 6ft high its time for a clean up!!
  5. Go on beretta, dish the dirt?! Did Meggison sell you one of those nasty Kemens instead of a proper Perazzi?! Seriously though, Kellbrook is very well run. The targets vary with the time of the year. Softer in the winter months to cater for game shots and harder through the summer for competition practise. Yeah it can be cold if its windy up there but thats not their fault. All i would say is that the rabbit stands and the lake area could do with a good tidy up as the place is knee deep with blaze clays and placcy wads. The shop is very well stocked but i take alot of what the staff say about guns with a pinch of salt! Enjoy your day.
  6. MX20 Black action 29.5ins barrels with 70mm chambers choked 1/4 and 1/2. Dark, nicely figured walnut with a schnabel forend. Approx 18yrs old but very little wear considering its age. Everything is still nice and tight. Not easy to find with a basic black action. Looking for around £2500 ono. No time wasters please. (County Durham).
  7. Take it you work for Lyalvale Floating Chamber?! All i use is Express in several different loads and love them but English Sporters aren't my cup of tea. My perazzis clean no bother usually but not with those things. What is the power? It's a grey disc rather than the usual vectan flake.
  8. I'd have bought a new bronze brush to go with those english sporters if i was you because you'll knacker your old one trying to clean the crud off your cones! Don't know what powder is in them but it aint vectan thats for sure!! Performance wise they seem fine but they are just too dirty and the fibre version are proper confetti jobs!
  9. Thats the route i'm thinking of taking. I no longer shoot reg sporting, just club stuff and DTL doesn't appeal. I was thinking a game gun with light chokes would be perfect as an allrounder and good for skeet. I've allready tried 24gm cartridges and i'm eally impresssed with them. Could do borrowing one and shooting afew hundred with it.
  10. I end up fiddling with multi chokes and thinking about them when i'm shooting when my mind should be on other things! I've found when using fixed chokes i know i'm stuck with them so the thoughts go away. My rough shooting involves long walks and long days and hoped a game version might save abit of weight. Anyone out there regulary use a o/u game gun for clays?
  11. Hi all, Ive used a 30ins 1/4 and 1/2 Perazzi MX20 for game/rough shooting for afew years and a 12bore 32ins 1/2 and 3/4 Perazzi for sporting and skeet. I am now shooting less sporting and more skeet. Im considering selling both guns and replacing them with a 30ins twelve bore game gun. Either a Beretta 687eell or a Perazzi MX8/12. I'd be happier shooting just the one gun and i'm allways concious getting 12/20 bore cartridges mixed up. Has anyone else gone down this route and how did you find it?. I'm happy to go down to 24gm carts for clays to reduce recoil in the lighter gun. I'm not a fan of multi chokes so was thinking of 1/4 and 1/2 as a good allrounder. Any feed back would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  12. Hi all, I may have just been unlucky but are these not just terrible rifles?! I bought one two years ago and it was terrible. Had it ordered in for me and bought it unsighted as i was sure it would be of the same standard as their centre fires. The stock shape was awful and the the safety catch and bolt handle were cheap, nasty and plastic. From day one i had trouble with the gun cycling sub sonics of various brands and the best groups it could produce were 2.5ins at 50yds and that was lying down off a bipod!! To be honest i was disgusted with it. The gunshop weren't very helpful and i eventually took it to another shop who had dealt with one before and said they were terrible. I decided to cut my losses and scrap it after 3 weeks. I couldn't even find a dealer who would take it in part-ex!! I have since bought a CZ Style and the difference in quality is beyond belief!! I imagine loads of you love your remmies but like i have said, mine wouldn't group for toffee. Perhaps they have changed their manufacturer since then and you have an old model from the same factory as me?!
  13. I must be the only one with no preference! Ive put 2000 Eley and 2000 Winchester through my new CZ Style in the last 4 months. The bolt has cycled both brands no problem and i've shot both brands side by side and the groups have been the same. Both very good! I would say that the Winchesters do seem to stop better although if your head shooting Rabbits there shouldn't be a difference. I've stuck with the Winchesters because they are £5 a brick cheaper than Eleys from my supplier. I also find the cardboard boxes easier to load from rather than the plastic Eley ones. P.s I'm not keen on the smell the Eleys give off when fired! Anyone else noticed this? Must be the lubricant they use.
  14. 7500 in 4 months! Nice work Reaper6! What have you rattled all of them at?!
  15. Any advance on 1971?! CZ/BRNO rifles must be the most hard wearing guns in the world! If Eleys test rifles fire 1 million rounds before being changed it goes to show. You cant shoot 'em out! I wonder how many .22 rounds are fired annually worldwide? I remember reading an article in which Winchester were asked how many sub-sonic rounds they produced at their plant in Australia but they declined to give an answer, saying that it was commercially sensitive information! Shame!
  16. I know CZ rifles have the date stamped next to the proof mark but i don't know if that applies to BRNO's aswell. There must be rifles out there still going strong after 100,000 i reckon!
  17. Hi All, I'm the proud owner of a CZ Style which i'm really pleased with. Over the last two months i've shot 800 rabbits with it and hoping to shoot alot more over the summer. I got talking to a lad who's a massive fan of CZ Rifles and we were talking about what workhorses they are and he said his rifle is dated 1972 and he wished he'd kept a record of how many rounds it had through it. It got me thinking, whats the oldest .22 out there in regular use? and who's rifle has had the most rounds through it? (Excluding target use other than zeroing). P.S No porky pies please!!
  18. That sounds about right as i remember them being on sale afew years ago then they dissappeared. I imagine the americans fired afew thou then sent the lot back!!
  19. Hi folks, I saw these are back on the market so thought i'd give them a try. I won't be buying anymore! I'm a big fan of Express cartridges loaded with Vectan powder but these are loaded with a grey disc type powder. Are these re-branded D&J? Afew of us tried them together and all had the same results. Clouds of confetti with every shot fired and it got worse when i got home! The area around the forcing cones in each barrel were filthy with powder residue. It couldn't be plastic and if it was lead it would have been streaks. I eventually had to use an old bottle of Hoppes No9 and literally scrubbed it off with a bronze brush. The bore snake didn't even touch it. My barrels aren't chromed but i've never had any trouble cleaning them with any other cartridge. I'm going back to High Velocity/vectan powder! Has anyone else had trouble with these?
  20. Cheers, I was just a bit suspicious with it being so cheap for a 30mm scope but I think I'll give it a try.
  21. Hi folks, I'm in the process of changing my rabbiting set up. I've bought a CZ452 Style which i'm really pleased with and I'm firing Eley Subsonic on the advice of previous threads. I'm now looking for a better scope than the loo roll that I currently have fitted. I'm looking for a 30mm tube with a 50mm objective lens and a variable power of around 4 - 10 mag. I'd also like an illuminated reticule. Walther 4-12x50 AO IR sounds perfect at a very low price. Can anyone give me some feed back on this model or recommend something similar? It comes supplied with mounts, will they fit my CZ? It's for lamping work mainly and I'll be fitting my Tracer Max to it. Just have to buy a bigger bracket for it. Thanks in advance.
  22. I know Victory make a spreader load called the Dispenser in sz9 shot. Its supposed to increase patterns by 50% at 20 metres. Only snag is that its a 32gm load and it would have to be imported especially for you I'd imagine. It would be interesting to know how it performed though. Its listed on Victorys website.
  23. ninj mentioned he will be loading fire wad loads in the near future? Does anyone have anymore info? Sure they'd sell well around the local sunday clubs.
  24. I know the Ultimates come in 34gm 5's aswell as i've used them. Think they also come in 30gm and other shot sizes although i may be wrong. If he starts loading fibre wads i hope they are as good as his plastic loads. You'll be impressed with his pigeon load i'm sure. He could do with up-dating his website to show his range of cartridges.
  25. I'm a big fan of proper cartridges. If you open one up you'll find they're made of top quality parts. Ive been using the Ultimate High Performance Game 32gm 5's over the last season and they are top notch. I allways used RC SIPE before that but i wanted to get away from yellow cases. The Ultimates are about £30 cheaper and, dare i say it, perform even better than the Sipes. P.s, Bywell stock the Ultimates but they aren't on the website for some reason. You can also buy direct.
