  1. The man's a total idiot and a hypocrite. He recently played on a track with a rapper named Dappy from the group N-Dubz (get me getting down with the kids!) This track did well and obviously made the poodle haired tool a nice few quid. Dappy may not be everyone's cup of tea but he is what he is and is also a keen fisherman. This means either mop head loves foxes but doesn't care for slimy wet fish. (typical bunny hugger behaviour) Or more likely he knew it would be a good little earner so decided to keep his uneducated mouth shut and watch the money come in. Either stance makes him lower than low in my eyes. The man makes me sick! WR.
  2. As a general rule vixens will be cubbing around now. Hence the reason everything goes quiet this time of year with only the dogs raking about. The easiest answer is to run a knife down her and find out. She will be milk (teats will be swelled). If they don't look suckled there's a good chance she's still in pup (cub). Once the vixen has cubbed they are milk dependant and she only leaves the cubs to feed and then returns. A decent dog fox would take food to her but that doesn't allways happen. Once they're eating meat she'll leave them longer to hunt food for them. You've shot her in the nick of time. Even if she has cubbed it's doubtful they'll be weaned and therefore will perish very quickly with the dog unable to feed them. Killing vixens once cubs are weaned is a matter for the individuals consience. I know my thoughts on the subject. It's my living! The above is based on nortern england. No doubt things are earlier down south. Hope this helps you fill in a few gaps. They're fascinating creatures and worth studying. A worthy foe! Regards WR
  3. I'm going on a shopping trip this weekend for various loads and brands. Do you know if interbond bullets are available as a factory load? I will search them out and try them if they are? Regards WR
  4. Thanks for all the advice lads, It's good to know the twist rate aswell. The lad I spoke to at Sportsman didn't know and never rang me back!! Looks like I need to try a bigger selection and go from there. I definatley fancy something around 85-95gn but we'll see what comes out best. I was concious of shooting something as large as a red hind with less than 100gn incase it lacked the necessary knock down power. My bias towards Hornady was simply down to my fox load. First load I tried and it shoots 15mm groups at 100 yds. Needless to say I left it at that! Best Wishes WR.
  5. It's a steyr mannlicher pro hunter and I'm not sure how it peforms with heavier bullets. I'm assuming 58gr would be illegal for deer in england? As far as I can gather the new laws are based on muzzle energy and I'm not sure how you know what your perticular load produces? WR
  6. Hello All, I'm looking for a .243 round for roe stalking and possibly red hinds next winter. I don't load my own and I'm currently using Hornady 58gn V-max's for fox with good effect. I've allways got on with Hornady ammo and would like to stick with it. Also my local supplier stocks a big range of their loads. Looking on their website the choice seems to be between 95gn SST's or 100gn Interlocks. I have no experience of either and was hoping some one could help me with their own experiences of those loads? I'm drawn to the 95gnn SST's for the flatter trajectory but I guess they won't have the knock down effect of the Interlocks? I'm also assuming they produce enough energy to make them deer legal? Any advice appreciated. WR
  7. The shoot was in doubt due to what has gone on between the NGO and the organisers. Suffice to say it's going ahead as normal and the NGO have managed to lose their biggest fundraiser of the year. I'm saying no more! WR
  8. Happy Days! Lambton Clay Shoot IS on! April 28th and 29th 2012. 7 flushes as usual. £250 a team (includes £20 raffle ticket for Spiders Appeal) Starts 9am Fibre wads preferred this year. Type "Lambton Castle" into your search engine and it's under events. The entry form can be downloaded from there. All proceeds go to Spiders Appeal and The Great North Air Ambulance. Bet that's cheered you lot up!! Edit: This replaces the NGO shoot. The more expensive shoot mentioned in the previous post is also on but later in the year. WR.
  9. Thankyou for the replies including the first one. What a comical nutcase!! My sides are acheing!! Found just the thing in the end. The really wild (expensive) girl website has a slip and matching bag. Very tasteful and understated if I say so myself! P.s, Yes, she has the beretta vest with the pink trim and looks gorgeous in it. Who am I to argue! Thanks again. WR.
  10. Evening All, As loving, caring partners and husbands I'm sure someone will be able to help me out. My partner has taken up shooting and thoroughly enjoying it and is having great fun putting together the required kit (which as we all know, has to be matching, the right colour and fairly expensive!) With this in mind I'm trying to find her a gunslip and cartridge bag with a feminine touch! Does anyone out there know of a tweed gun slip and bag with any pink in it? Obviously colour co-ordination is vital as a clash of colours would lead to a drop in scores! Any help greatly received. Best wishes WR.
  11. Evening All, I'm on the hunt for two Hull Cartridge Baseball caps in either black or dark green. One for a friend and one to replace my worn out one. (where I got it I can't remember). Does anyone know of a shop that stocks them that does mail order? My search of the internet hasn't produced anything. P.s, I emailed Hull Cartridge via their website and received no reply. I then emailed them direct and was still ignored. Charming! Just aswell their cartridges are better than their lousy customer service! Best wishes WR.
  12. The simple reason this story is going on and on is because of our lovely trendy liberal left tofu munching BBC that you me and the rest of the country have to pay for by law. The BBC hates the red top papers as they don't conform to their views so are revelling in stirring up as much trouble as they can. What went on was clearly wrong and needed to be sorted but the sight of our grubby MP's who appear to be the most unethical and criminal members of society trying to take the moral high ground and get their own back on the NOTW for exposing all there dirty little secrets makes me sick! John Prescott. Enough said! It's also given Labour leader (who knew?) Ed Milliband the chance to prove he exists and score a few cheap political points. So to sum up, Yes, I'm well and truly sick of the lot of them. The worlds going bust and yet it doesn't seem to get a mention!
  13. All sold to first poster. Thanks Lads. WR.

  15. I can't comment on the relevent article as I chose to stop buying Shooting Times a month ago after buying every copy for 20 years. Basically there isn't anything in it anymore and what is seems tired and low quality. John Humphreys blatent scrounge for a new boat after his was stolen was the straw that broke the camels back. He even described what he'd want as a replacement for godsake! Shameless. Shooting writers have a privledged job which gains them no end of freebies, invites and a chance to speak to the shooting community but all they can produce is the same old tired stuff month in month out. I could make a list aslong as my arm of new and different items they could produce but it seems totally beyond them to do the same. Shooting Times now takes 30 mins max to read from cover to cover. When I first bought it it cost 60p and was a decent read. Its a shame to see what it has become. Endless moans about the RSPB,RSPCA etc Lets have a bit more substance and effort please. Current writers aren't fit to sharpen Noel Sedgewicks pencil!!! Rant over!!
  16. Hi Mike, What brand did you settle on? I'm a massive fan of 21gm loads. Especially the Hull comp X although I see Express are now cheaper after Hull and Gamebore jacked the prices up again. (I wouldn't entertain Eley lites) I'm sure if people actually patterned them they'd soon match or overtake 28gm sales. Especially after yet another price rise. I've used over two thousand this year shooting against others at our club with 28gm loads and have won my share of comps and converted afew others! I hope they keep making them as going back to an ounce would kill me! WR
  17. Evening All, My guess would be that the pitch on your gun may be wrong for you. It often is for bigger lads and ladies as our shoulders are fuller than average. I should explain that pitch is the angle of the butt of your gun in relation to the comb. This is basically measured by the length of pull at the heel and the toe or measured in degrees against the angle of the comb. A fuller chest requires less length at toe and vice versa. It's a measurement that alot of people ignore but it may be worth while speaking to a good gun fitter. Hope this helps WR.
  18. Afternoon, Could you tell us what is on the clay line this year? I'd have taken my gun last year but assumed it was just a have-a-go stand as no details were advertised. Is it a sporting re-entry of a compact type thing and how many birds? Regards WR.
  19. They may do,just never see much Gamebore on the shelves when i've been to Bradfords in the past. I'll ring both tomorrow. Thanks for your help mate. Appreciate it. WR.
  20. It's the 30gm I'm after mate. Do you know if they have them? Cheers WR
  21. Just noticed your in Durham Lee, I'm passing through that way next week. Do you know of any stockists in your area and price? I've never seen them in bradfords when I've been over. I use 30gm fibres. Cheers, WR.
  22. Spot on, cheers Lee. I'll have myself a couple thousand now. Chances are there'll be another price rise before next season! Thanks again, WR
  23. Evening Everyone, Can one of you guys who has bought the new black clear pigeons confirm that they are now loaded in a 70mm case, As listed in the advert? I used to use the old 67mm ones but changed when I bought my Benelli as it prefers the longer case. I love to go back to pigeon loads for vermin and game shooting again when you see what game loads now cost! Thanks Lads WR
  24. Afternoon All, Just returned from Aske Hall and wanted to congratulate those involved and thank them for the effort they put in. I thoroughly enjoyed the targets and having it spread over 6 stands was an excellent idea. Created alot of variation and cut the waiting down on each stand which is allways a good thing. Even if 15 people are waiting it doesn't take long when your shooting 3 pairs each. It was a shame some of the traps let them down but it didn't spoil my day. Although I was looking forward to shooting my namesake but never mind eh! Things like that only bother you if you let them. I hope alot of money was raised for a worthy cause and can someone post the results if poss and let us know if this will be an annual event. (Just curious as I doubt my 32 will clinch the 100 quid! I'd predict a 38 would win it) Best wishes White Rabbit.
  25. I could be tempted. Any idea of the cost anyone? I'm sure it's a very good cause but times are hard! WR
