  1. It has been hinted twice now on here that I am irresponsible! Sorry guys, but know the facts first before judging from on high! On the day the two ferrets were lost, a locator let us down, so using a locator still lost us a good ferret. I immediately ordered a replacement for this, { and this fact can be prooved on this thread if needed } Rarms, locators can be as unguaranteeable as a vets snips!. and I AINT irresponsible.
  2. Tiercel, maybe not all, but it is a fact that a jills have a very short lifespan if not mated.
  3. Vermin dropper, we usually keep about three ferrets which has always been adequate for our needs, thats after more than thirty years of ferreting. This winter we were unfortunate enough to lose two ferrets on the same day after killing then lying up.That was the reason for needing them in february, and nothing to do with not planning ahead. Let me add that a distance of around four hundred miles was covered driving a round trip of 36 miles daily to try to recover them, finally getting one back. We consider it a DUTY to do the utmost to retrieve a lost ferret, so would never wish to be even suspected of irresponsibility. Neutering a jill, yes, that can be a solution for some. Mating her with a castrated hob? tell me more.
  4. An interesting point there about overbreeding, as a jill ferret will die if not mated. So what is the solution?. You cant give them away in the summer!. Tiercel and I briefly discussed this problem earlier in the year, when we both needed ferrets but had a problem acquiring them in february. Sounds like a no win situation all round, moreso for the ferrets. Are these ferrets availlable from the rescue society in the wintertime?.
  5. DEFINITELY NOT GUILTY!!, If thats a Welshman they may as well close the bridge now, or get the net out.
  6. Happy birthday T C, Not many reach your ripe old age!
  7. This is the last survivor of five born this year at the place where I work. I will keep an eye on him to hopefully photograph his progress.
  8. Dont ignore Martin Pipes BINDAREE. He,s in super form having thrashed Sir Rembrandt who gave Best Mate a superb race in the gold cup. My four star nap BINDAREE. Cranfield, if you find an odd bundle of tenners under that last carpet that you roll up.....................................
  9. Our telly goes like that until I give it a tap!.

  11. Im determined to get it right just for Cranfield
  12. All those ugly mugs on here, I thought I,d add something handsome. Heres me on a good day.
  13. Put a shilling each way on Best MATE.
  14. Sent it a while back Tc, by welsh pony express.
  15. What time of year do you guys call a halt to your rabbit shooting/ferreting?. I realise that there are exceptions in some areas where is a pest problem and you are comitted to keeping them down, but down here in Wales we normally stop at the first pregnant doe shot or ferreted, to protect our local stocks. This is mostly around this time of year, [mid JAN] but in recent years have come across them, with young, as early as mid December.
  16. Try this, we used to catch loads of fieldmice as kids using a large lemonade bottle with crushed peanuts in the bottom,. The bottle is laid on a slight slant with access, ie a ramp, to the top. They get in ok but slide back when trying to get out. { check regularly}
  17. Regarding fill pressures, bear in mind that maximum fill does not mean maximum power. On my s410 the best string of shots is between 150 and 80 on the guage. I tested right through the pressure range with one of those brilliant little Combro,s. Every individual pcp has its own hotspots.
  18. Thanks both, Ive put a bid in for it.
  19. Wanted, as above in good working order
  20. I was about to send a picture of ten, but f'''k it now.
  21. RABBIT HUNTER, No website, but I,ll put their a/d and phone no in your pm box.
  22. No Jono, I think you must be confusing it with the running cord around the outside of the nets. The spun nylon slightly resembles wool. It is available from k.p.andS nets at the moment but only in v heavy duty white, or thinner material but in black.
  23. Its got to be your hide or your movements Deni, shells have been used with great success for years now by the majority of pigeon shooters. The only situation that they dont seem to work as well as the full bodied type is when deoying with an air rifle where you obviously need the birds to actually LAND at close range, and even in that situation shell deeks can work brilliantly as long as your hide is 100%. Take another look at your hide from a distance, and try to imagine it from a woody,s point of view.
