  15. well an update...went to the vets...discussed all thats was going on...also mentioned some of the conversations i have had with friends/on here and whilst she agreed that it was all very possible, after examining my dog..and taking some scrapings just to be on the safe side...she said that she was almost sure that it is a trigger induced situation that has turned into a bad habit.Based on the fact that my dog attacks one toe untill it gets really sore then leaves it alone to heal whilst starting to tear into the other one.and so on. so in short she seems to think that something has injured /irritated or otherwise annoyed the dog which has started the behaviour, and now its just something he does.but thats not conclusive until the scraping tests come back. she also said that of all the dogs that suffer with behaviour of this kind,by far and away the majority are spaniels of one sort or another, who are prone to this because they are quite intelligent and as such can become bored/obsessive etc. so will wait and see...came awat with a very expensive cream...lol... will keep you updated
  16. I had a brief chat at the kent show with a vet on one of the stalls, about food allergies...and what she said surprised me...apparently she has so many clients with dogs that seemingly have food allergies, some of whom have spent quite literally thousands of pounds trying to get to the bottom of it. she remarked that it is in most cases a pointless exercise and very difficult to eradicate/pinpoint. got the vet at 4.20, she is very good(and expensive, but which vet isnt?)...i am hoping she will find a simple fix....but i think i am being a bit optomistic....
  17. Thats interesting Daz...my dog does occasionally like to drag his backside up and down the garden... i will mention that to the vet and let you know what they say...thanks for that just out of interest...how have you dealt with your springer?
