  1. Are they frozen from out the old mans freezer!!!

  2. We ended with exactly 80 head, 250 shots fired so could of been nearer a 100. Was a good day with a mixed bag made up of mainly pheasant and mallard also partridge a couple of teal and a few pigeon. A well fed pair of foxes were added to the bag on one of the drives.
  3. Hi mate are you certain your hitting the quarry were you say you are aiming you havnt mentioned if the damage is clearly visable, not sure if youve got a scope or not but either way set up a paper target at a similar distance and put a few shots in it. You may be shooting low and still hitting the target but in the crop/body.
  4. Couldnt agree more with the above post doing codeings just to look for work is a big gamble im a coded pipe welder and most of my codeings will only last for 2 years and depending on what level your talking they can be very limited. For example if i did a code test on on 4inch pipe of 9mm wall thickness some employers will only then allow me to weld on pipework of a similar size and wall thickness and theres lots of different levels. Sometimes ill do a code test for a one week job and never need that codeing again. Other times i might go a year without anyone asking to see any paperwork. If theres a job youve got your eye on that requires a certain codeing that may be worth doing but otherwise as suggested above id try and get your foot in the door before you shell out cash. If your a fairly tidy welder and used to full penetration welds it shouldnt be too difficult for you to get coded. Im my opinion plate welding is a easier place to start than pipe as theres fewer angle changes but im sure you would soon get the hang of both.
  5. Try and find a patch that the birds have kept low or hasnt come up very well even if its in the middle of the field if the whole fields knee high you might struggle to decoy on it i wouldnt suggest pushing it over.
  6. Looked like good fun, i think it would be hard work to hit them off a moving boat with a bow and arrow surprised they arnt using 8 shot semis.
  7. I brought a pair of hypaflaps a year ago for my magnet because i wanted something i could keep in the van just incase i got off work early. I found them hard work they would occasionally pull birds but most would flare off before they got in range. They still come in handy just to get the first two birds if i havnt got any defrosted then i swop them straight over. I tried them a couple of times while shooting with a friend who was using dead birds and i never decoyed a bird while he had his magnet out. Ive never actually tried it but we always joke about setting them up on the other side of the field to stop the birds landing there i think it would work.
  8. Good shooting fenny dont forget im just round the corner if you ever need a hand.
  9. Hi has anyone else off here taken a place on this syndicate
  10. Im considering a hushpower are the fully moderated barrels really as quiet as an air rifle like the site suggests ive never heard one.
  11. I find crows require a better hide but react well too decoys. Pigeons seem to be less suspicious but dont always react as well to the decoys. So i would say crows decoy better but have better awareness/eyesight about evens when all things considered.
  12. hi ferret master are you talking bout them hypaflaps ive got a pair and found them dissapointing tried them a couple of times on the magnet and the birds just flared off them in a hurry. I put it down to the pigeons being shot at over magnets too often but tried dead birds on the same field the other day and it worked fine. Going to try them on the bouncer and some different areas but they havnt filled me with confidence.
