    Which Scope

Many take the 8x56 as the classic fox scope, s&b would be nice for sure but your in top end territory there, when i get round to buying a 223 I'm pretty sure it'll wind up with an Edgar brothers Opti-mate 8x56 riding on top http://shootingsports.edgarbrothers.com/pa...-24-1-8x56.aspx They are always spoken highly of by people who own / have used them. I belive that new you'll find them for around £180 and second hand do occasionaly crop up on the forums this may be more in your preffered price bracket. Hope this helps Adam
  15. There is no such thing as a well behaved dog, there is however such a thing as a well trained dog
  16. I'd sooner not ,it's making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up :o
  17. What a statment, I do like common sence
  18. I got talking to one of my local rfd's a few months ago and he mentioned an old baikal o/u dt ne he had laying about in the back that no one would want even though it was in totally serviceble order, how much asks I as I only had a semi auto at the time and fancied trying an o/u, £25 he replied but wouldnt let me pay him untill i'd taken it and tried it to make sure i liked it, its sat in my cabinet now and there it'll stay, I really enjoy shooting with it and shoot better with it than i did with the s/a. did a few clays with some mates a few days after getting it they were all telling me how bad it would be but after while they were all wanting another go kids A short while after that i got offered another Baikal this time a twin barrel set s/t ejector for £100 now the s/a is a thing of the past and there is no new shotties expected as these do all i ask perfectly well, pretty they're not but i'm more a function over form man. I have nothing against people spending the same money on their guns as many here can spend on their cars but please dont try to tell us its neccessary and please dont look down your noses at those who shoot much cheaper guns as many who do are just as serious if not more so about their shooting than many of the big buck guys.
  19. I'm not desputing that there is better finished rifles out there, there is but i'm a function over form type of guy, my shotguns are Baikal not Browning, I drive a Ford not a BMW but they do the job, Oh yes and i'm a tightwad
  20. £625 is the cheapest new on guntrader compared to £320 for the cheapest new CZ on there, a few quid on a trigger kit and you'll have a rifle that wont be out performed, although I must conceed the german is by far the prettier option theres a lot of money saved to put towards optics.
  21. Yes I have had a search round:) But before i would even think of mentioning a short list ( quite a long short list:D ) I would like to ask what preferances you hmr users have in scope features. I have always preferred a simple reticle and with such a flat round is there any benefit in the more fussy reticules, what do you use? What is the minimum and maximum mag you use ? bearing in mind i'm all about bunny and bird bashing. I once had an IR scope on my rapid and never used the feature, would I be more likley to on a hmr? At the top end of my budget would be the Leupold vx1 3 x 9 x 40 or the Burris fullfield 3 x 9 x 40 although I hear the reticule is not ideally suited to low light on the vx1 or would I be better off going for a bigger objective on a "lesser" quality scope, I was just thinking the better quality lenses may well outperform the bigger objectives with lesser glass. The others to have a think on would be Bushnell Trophy 3-12 x 56 Nikon Prostaff 3-9 x50 MTC Mamba 4-16 x 50 Centerpoint 4-16 x 56 Nikko Sterling Platinum Nighteater 6-24 x 56 Simmons WTC 6.5-20 x 50 Please feel free to add any other suggestions of features or models I've not mentioned (I'm not a fan of Hawke scopes or the BSA sweet 17) Thanks Adam
  22. Can I ask what makes you say this, I'm curious as have always belived them to be a top piece of kit?
