  1. The big fella actually knows his stuff if you watch some of his other videos.............
  2. Thanks Hanky, i'll hang on to them then
  3. Thanks for that Dave, sheds a little more light
  4. So are they worth hanging on to, or should i test out their ballistic qualities on the local foxes?
  5. Thats about as much as i've managed to find out about the company.....
  6. Ok, cant seem to work out how to add another photo now, im sure it was pretty straight forward when i attached them to the first post?
  7. The small amount of information i can find suggests George Hinton and Sons was a gunmakers based in Taunton for a while. Thats pretty much all i have found thus far! Hoping somebody out there may know a little more
  8. Hello all, Was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the cartridges in the (hopefully) attached photos and if they are worth anything? Cheers, Rich
  9. Brilliant write up. Thoroughly enjoyed reading that. Buzzing for beaters day tomorrow now
  10. Reminds me of a day I had last season, never seen such high and fast birds. Almost gave up half way through the drive with frustration!
  11. Saw a few Woodcock on the shoot i was picking up on yesterday, a couple were added to the bag but the best bird i saw all day was a Woodcock which jinked its way down half the line without having a feather knocked out of place, fantastic sight.
  12. 1 springer, 1 sprocker and a yellow lab pup. All dogs. Total 158
  13. I have a Springer and a Sprocker, I've been fairly lucky as they seem to complement each other, Springer is fearless, will face any cover and works himself into the ground whereas my Sprocker is steadier, a little more picky with the cover he faces but is an excellent bird finder/retriever. I know some people arent keen on crossing pure breeds but i've seen a lot of Sprockers on the shoots i've been on over the last couple of seasons and many of them are cracking dogs. A tough one to call and much depends on personal preference i guess.
  14. Andy75, Apparently Deer are not fond of Sorghum and it is growing increasingly popular as a replacement for maize where they are a problem. We tried it here but we're too high up so it struggled but maize struggles here too so it may be worth looking at? Cheers, RichS
  15. Hi trxnav, What sort of returns do you get on your ex layers?
  16. We're putting down ex-layers for next season, mostly because of the time we'd have to spend on the shoot if we put poults down, im a little worried now having read peoples experiences of their tendency to wander!!
  17. Dont think you can beat Kale really, if you can get it to grow. We've tried Triticale this season on our poorer ground where we've struggled with weeds (mainly Redshank), it grows really well and the birds loved it, until the Deer nipped the tops off!
  18. went out on the lash on Friday night with Saddam, you should have seen him yesterday morning, he was hanging! Sorry
  19. well done whereabouts on exmoor do you shoot?
  20. well done, a nice bag Havent seen any woodcock on our shoot yet, fingers crossed for this Saturday !
  21. I've had my bettinsoli for over a year now and never had a problem with it, shoots nice too Oh and was told it was ok for steel shot as long as you dont use anything tighter than 1/2 choke
  22. I bought a Bettinsoli Diamond a few months ago, love the gun and had no problems with it, although i've heard a few people have had trouble with the second barrel not firing or both barrels firing at once. Most people would probably go for a beretta though.
  23. excellent site, i like it
