  1. Just got rid of the outlaws who were down for Xmas - and then stayed and stayed. Father -in - Law was fast asleep in chair when Mother - in- Law approaches him and says: "When you wake up will you move the chairs?"
  2. My mate is in a police Armed response unit up in the smoke. They had been out doing "something" with guns nad were back in the office being lectured by the armourer about using their handguns when the armourer managed to fire his pistol through his hand and into a desk. Don't know how they wrote that one up. Also when doing a display to dignitaries about entering a building while descending from ropes, things went wrong. First man was supposed to rappel down and shoot out the window but he dropped the cartridges. Second man didn't realise and rapeled down throwing thunder flashes into the room........but as the window was still there they bounced back. They exploded in front of the dignitaries leaving them deafened and shocked. Really gives you faith in the competence of the Law.
  3. don't know if this will help or not but.. When I first applied for my SGC was refused as my consultant said I had suffered depression and might cause harm to myself or others. I disputed this as the only time in my life I had suffered depression ws under medication he prescribed. I immediately went to an NHS psychiatrist and had an evaluation done to refute my consultants claim. I then presented this to my Police authority (my GP is anti- shooting so I could not rely on them). After arguing my case and also proving my physical disabilities did not make me unsafe with a gun; I was granted my SGC. So my advice would be to fight it if you can get people to back you up.
  4. The same interviews were rehashed on farming today with an interview with a BASC representative. Same bunny hugging slant.
  5. Can't get the exact URL but try this http://www.bbc.co.uk/midlandstoday/latest_...ies/index.shtml then go to Hunt protestors video claims Seems they are being intimidated ( sounds just like something hunters used to say when hunt sabs were king) plus the evidence is overwhelming two sticks and a leaf with blood on them - fox, dog, hunters or maybe squirrel blood? I also believed that the killing of foxes is not illegal if not done with dogs i.e with a rifle (though there is no mentionas to whether this was the case.)
  6. Awaiting a reply to my application for an open FAC. Shooting a rifle on my certificate for 3 years, have sent in 3 acompanying letters to show my safety and ability. One from my shooting mate (also a shotgun BASC coach), my local gundealer and shooting accomplice and finally a local farmer over whose land I have permission. Here's hoping
  7. Excellent little gun, especially as it all breaks down to be carried in a softcase. Nobody realises what it is once its in the case, just looks like an oversize laptop bag. My one has been used in many places where it is not ideal to carry an air rifle. BTW as mentioned no licence required but you must meet age requirements.
  8. Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced .308? I only have up to about £700, I already have a scope and will get a moderator when I can afford it. Would be using for stalking deer and possibly boar.
  9. Just heard the Church of England is suggesting we have sharia law in this country. What a marvelous idea - if we don't get prosecuted under the existing laws of the country, we'll be shafted by another set of laws. Will we get to choose which legal system prosecutes us? Or will it be that if one fails, the other will be used. Blasphemy may not be a death sentence under English law but under Sharia can we talk about teddy bears? Sorry, just had to get this off my chest.
  10. One other point about this phone-in. Many of the callers (and the interviewer to start with) kept banging on that "Compulsory" gun use should no be made part of the curriculum. Mike Everleigh kept correcting this but many of the callers and th lady from the Anti-gun lobby didn't seem to want to hear this. They insisted that "gun training" would only create more accurate and wild armed criminals.
  11. Offered a last minute shoot at a great price on a god shoot. Managed to get the wrong pegs all day and yet still managed 3 pheasant and 2 partridge. Final bag for 12 guns was 103 - partridge in the main, pheasant, duck, a few pigeon and a snipe. Great day out.
  12. Often seen this when clay shooting with cheaper cartridges. I notice it especially as I'm left handed with aright ejecting beretta. I live in fear of losing my eyebrows to a flameout one day.
  13. Like they say give it a good clean & make sure that you get rid of any powder residue around the gas ports and mechanism under the fore-end. I find a small screwdriver scratches out all the muck.
  14. Thanks for the encouragement. I even did the Lottery but I think I used up all my good fortune in getting the permissions.
  15. I mentioned it today to some mates who had taken me out for a healthy breakfast (egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, beans, fried bread, etc). I thought i was going to get killed in the rush to assist me. As they kindly pointed out, if I get stuck in the mud - and there's plenty of it down here - who's going to help me out. So I think I have one mate going rabbiting with me and another pigeon shooting, the stalking will be with another guy who has taken me on his permission. and before you all say it, yes I had already mentioned to the farmer that I might need assistance. He knows the other guys as he has seen me with them and knows them through business. Everything looks good. I'm sure something has got to come along and spoil it. All I've got to do now is get my FAC changed to "open" as it will make life a lot easier.
