  1. Great videos. Down here near Lisburn, I had a good day over cut barley on Monday. Bright sunshine, plenty of breeze and plenty of wood pigeon. I shot 39 woodies and a few crows and missed plenty. The wife rang during this, I put the phone down and dropped a left to right then resumed the call. Birds flying all round and difficult to pick which one to shoot. Loved it........especially since last summer was so wet, I never got out once.

I was out on Monday too (video to follow). I got 32 pigeons & 11 crows. Weather was great that day, not so good today!!!

  2. I have found rooks and crows to shy away from pigeons on a rotary, but I do use dead rooks on a rotary (slow speed) with some success.

It is typical rotary though, some days it works better than others.

Yeah I think my rotary would be too fast for rooks, my flapper is perfect for crows as it isn't as fast as the ff5 for example.

Yeah you just never know when the rotary will work.

  3. Nice shooting Ollie. Do you get good kills with those shells? I generally use heavier - 32g 6s or 5s on crows.

I went out last week and got 29. Am out again tomorrow. You've reminded me to dig out the camera.

    Keep up the good work!

Well al how are you keeping? I've got another 2 outings to turn into video, just can't find the time to edit the footage.

I do generally get good kills with clay shells, but I must say I keep the ranges sensible.

Hope to see a video from you soon.

enjoyed, thanks for posting..some good shooting :good:

    Thanks for watching.

  4. Great vid Ollie mate and some beautiful surroundings you have there 👍

    Atvb Dave

    Thanks mate.

I enjoyed that, thanks for posting.

Where there always pigeon decoys on the rotary, or were they crows in the first video ?

No there was dead pigeons on the rotary on both occasions as there was pigeons in the area both times.

I've always believed that crows on the rotary doesn't work???

  5. love to see the dog working that was some shot well done.

She doesn't get a lot if work now, but the wheat was very thick & my house was just round the corner so I picked her up to give her a run out. Some of the birds were dead 4 hours by the time I got her so she did ok.

I also really enjoy watching your dogs working and that was a fine shot. :good:

Was a great shot from my mate, it was 50+ yards at an estimate.

Very good vid Ollie with your usual good shooting, thanks for sharing, I look forward to your woodcock vids thanks again.

Thanks for watching. We get our pheasants this weekend, so the season is approaching again.

  6. This video was filmed on 23rd July 2016 in Northern Ireland shooting woodpigeons over crops.

We started of on a field of laid barley, however, it was a slow start to the day with only a few birds bagged. After lunch we made our way to a field of corn that was getting hammered by pigeons. A good couple of hours later and some sporting birds were bagged.

An enjoyable day with 33 pigeons & a few crows.

    Thanks for watching,

  7. As said some good shooting and nice clean kills, can we ask what cartridge and choke combination you are using in the video?

I'm using 7.5 28g eley Olympic blues. I normally would use 6's for crows but I never had any so I kept the ranges sensible. 1/4 choke in the gun.

You are just as Handy on a comptuter as you are with a gun. Excellent Watch. Well Done.

Thanks for the feedback. I would consider myself average at the shooting & the editing lol.

excellent video.looks a lovely part of the world to be in.

    f.

It certainly is, we have some stunning scenery.

  8. Most enjoyable watching, as always. :good:

There was some good shooting there, especially the high bird out of the sun.

Thanks. Yes I enjoyed that high bird as I'm sure you can tell on the video.

Enjoyed that, well made video and some great shooting. :good:

    Cheers for watching

Nice video and very artistic display of shot birds!

I like to do this with the crows, the black shows up quite well so you can see the number.

Ollie that was fantastic, you shoot good well done you, the bloopers were great thanks for sharing.

I edited a few misses out because I don't think people like seeing misses. However, I kept the bad misses to show that we all have bad misses.

Some great shooting there thx for video. Interesting to see that they are still coming in with barrels clear of the hide. They seem to be oblivious to your presence not at all wary?

I like to keep the barrel clear of the net as too many times the barrel has got caught. As you can tell it didn't put them off as I kept the barrel relatively still.

They did come in well. Another day they might have been more wary.

Thanks, I'm sure the next day they will be a bit more wary.

  9. First video in a while. I got a couple of hours out on a field of drilled spring barley that was attracting the attention of quite a few corvids. They came brave & steady throughout the 2 hour session and was my shooting was decent for the most part. Ended up with 41 mixed corvids, 3 grey crows & 6 feral pigeons.
Stay tuned to the end for the bloopers section lol.

  10. Looks good dave.

One bit of advice I would give; make sure you leave space to walk between the plants. If you are putting tomatoes in those grow bags at the bottom you will need to get in to pinch the suckers off.

I like what you did at the back. The reflective material will be good for growing.
