  1. Good shooting mate, I enjoyed that!

    Thanks fella.

A good year for you there Ollie. I hope this one is at least as good.

Decent year Al. Pity the weather has been bad for the game season, one of my worst years for woodcock I can remember.

Nice triple on the crows at about 3.04

Had trouble seeing the woodcock, but nice video. Thanks for posting.

Thanks, I shot terrible that day at the crows, that was my highlight.

The woodcock can be difficult to make out, but the weather on those days made it tricky as it was so dull.

  2. That was very good thank you for sharing .

    Thanks for watching.

Certainly different territory, but excellent for a walked up session.

Some good shooting there and you are lucky to have two dogs that work well, they are both very keen.

Thanks Cranfield, both dogs are very different in their character. But both love being out hunting.

You did well even to find parts of Fermanagh still above water! As they say, for 6 months of the year the lakes are in Fermanagh. For the other 6 months, Fermanagh is in the lakes.

    Great dog work and shooting.

The water lying down around that place was unreal. There was one place we hunted down that we had to turn & make our make back as the place was like a lake.

  3. Myself and a couple of other fellas headed to County Fermanagh, Ireland just after Christmas to do a bit of walked up pheasant shooting, so here is the video.

The terrain & shooting was a little different to our normal pheasant shoot, but it was a nice day out meeting new people & a change from the norm.

I had 2 dogs with me which I switched half way through. So my cocker spaniel Dinky in the morning & Dawn my springer spaniel in the afternoon.

We ended up with a total bag of 18 pheasants (mainly cock birds) including a couple of lovely melanistic birds & 4 crows.

  4. Good video Ollie, well done. I've only ever used GoPro studio which I find is simple and good to use. Your video came out a bit dark and as you mentioned above the video quality was below the usual resolution, I'm only pointing that out as a fellow editor and to provide feedback on the new software your using. I enjoyed the shooting and the video. Thanks for posting.

Thanks fella, I appreciate the feedback. Thankfully this software is only a free trial, so I think I will just go back to movie maker.

  5. Nice one again Ollie. Nice also to see you are human and miss a few like the rest of us!

I think I'd need to shed a couple of stones and go into 6 months training to get up those hills on your shoot.

I couldn't believe I shot so bad. Don't get me wrong, the birds were difficult, but I should have been taking them down.

My Father is retired so he looks after most of the gamekeeping work; he is 62 and not a bit of weight on him. He skips around this shoot like a man half his age!!!

That's some demanding terrain to shoot over, your dog defo earns his keep  another good clip mate well done :good: BB

Thanks BB. The dogs certainly enjoy it, but they need a couple of days rest after hunting on our shoot.

  6. I can't comment on the new editing software, as I am no techie, but I enjoyed the video as I always do. :good:

First problem I can see with the software is that it didn't save in 1080, just 480. Whereas, using the Windows Media Player has always been 1080.

    Thanks for watching Cranfield.

It looks good to me. I use Go Pro Studio, but tend to keep it simple and edit out lots of the long bits with nothing happening.

Your videos must take the prize for most dramatic scenery, there can't be many shoots where you are shooting birds literally heading out to sea!

Is there a reason you use semi autos on this one? Safety?

I think I will go back to Windows Media Player, much less technical & will save in 1080p.

To be honest it's a small family syndicate & we all use semi-autos, as these are the guns we always use for all types of shooting. I appreciate it isn't everyone's cup of tea for pheasants, but everyone is safe and it's a very informal shoot.

  7. This video is mainly from our pheasant shoot on Boxing Day 2015, in the Glens of Antrim Ireland. There are also a couple of clips at the start from 23rd December.

I have tried a new editing software on this video and to be honest I found it very complicated. The software is Powerdirector Ultra 14, I have a month free trial, so I would be interested in getting a idea of how everyone thinks this one compares to the videos I have made previously using Windows Moviemaker.

Onto the shooting. It was another dull windy day and the birds flew great, in fact, too good for me most of the day. It is without doubt the worst I have shot this season & I had some very poor misses, but also one very good fast pheasant that I some how hit!!!

Thanks for watching, keep an eye out for my best of 2015 video coming up in the New Year.

    Happy New Year

  8. Nice footage there ollie and I like the music' it Complimented the Scenery and activity very well. Still nowhere near as nice as my County though..

Thanks goose. When I put the music in the words fitted in well, more a fluke than anything else. The shoot is actually in cushendall, which is mentioned in the music.

Not sure I agree about the county, it's hard to beat antrim!!!

  9. Happy Christmas everyone. This is a video from last Saturday 19th December on the syndicate shoot, here in the Glens of Antrim Northern Ireland.

The pheasants were very testing with 30-40 mph winds up their tail most of the day, but it made for good shooting.

I spent most of the day beating so didn't get loads of footage, but captured some nice shots.

  10.

    Cheers Ollie.

He has fair sprouted right enough so have to watch my lip with him now, lol.

Very daunting but no real worries with the young dog really and has probably learned a lot from Rab.

Hows the woodcock with you so far?Seeing a good amount first and last thing of the day so looks to be good numbers about but my bits are better with a touch frost and harder weather.

I replied on the video thread.

It's scary how quick they grow up, my wee man is 16 months now & already being a menace.

Happy christmas to you & yours.

  11. Nice wee clip Ollie.

Asked on my thread but will do here too.

Hows the woodcock numbers with you?Seem to be decent here although still very mild.

There is a lota boys on Facebook in Northern Ireland getting good numbers. I've had 2 outings with 3 birds & other outings couple of birds. The weather isn't tight enough to push them into lower ground yet, so I think a lot of them are in the forestries & mountains.

  12. The pheasants have been going well but I've been having a run of bad luck with the draws. I usually get a couple but haven't taken the camera out in the rain we've been having.

I'm out on Saturday again - we'll see how it goes. I love the banter on pheasant days. It keeps me (half) sane!!

It was brave & dry with us yesterday so I hopefully got some decent footage.

We noticed recently that the birds are starting to return to the feeders, although the weather is still mild, the natural food sources must be going scarace.

  13. Another good video, those wood cock are hard top spot, the slo mo is a good idea.

Even your springer didn't think you could hit a pigeon at that range, she was reluctant to go beyond 30 yards. :)

Yeah they are really hard to spot. I had thought about doing a still & pointing an arrow to where they flush, but the stills are too blurry.

That pigeon was a good 40-50 yards away & if you watch the video again it almosts goes down as an after-thought, it flies on a bit after the 2nd shot & then collapses. After that she probably couldn't believe I missed that next woodcock, it was really easy & then it turned on a six-pence!!!

Spot on Ollie you're a good shot and great at making these vids that I'm more than very happy to view, I wish I new how all this technology worked I might have given it a go, the gran kid tell me not to bother that I'm to old, so I'm happy for you Ollie to entertain me with your vids, best of luck and thank you for posting.

My shooting comes & goes, but thankfully I've had more good days than bad recently. At the start of the summer I was shooting great at pigeons & crows, then I went a couple of weeks where I couldn't hit a thing. I like woodcock because you have little time to think, its instinctive, I seem to miss if I have too much time.

The editing can be a bit of a pain from time to time, but I like looking back on my old videos and it will be nice to show my baby boy when he grows up. I do the editing while the soaps or x factor is on, so means I don't have to watch that carp!!!

Nice shooting again Ollie. Keep em coming!

Thanks Al, I'll check out your latest video later. How are you getting on at the Pheasants?
