  1. Love my Marlin .44 but anything over 100yards and your into magnum loads to keep the trajectory under the size of a small rainbow! In fact it's more like a mortar! What exactly are you shooting at 100 yards plus?
  2. Not sure about Pay As You Go, but ive just moved to Wiltshire and i think the nearest one to me is FROME, and its cheap in comparison to my old club! However be careful, some clubs have a minimum attendance rate for the year to stop people joining them to maintain a FAC!
  3. Thanks for the reply Stripey, i intend on doing some door knocking / tractor chasing just didn't want to step on anyones toes in the immediate area! Will be taking the Roadbike out for a spin with a notepad and the iPhone!
  4. I'm sure we could debate it all day, i guess the point where the police decided to go in first set the tone for the day. The Riot gear would have been a matter of course, can you imagine if they had gone in with no PPE? it depends on the intel and planning. ive have had the pleasure of a dawn raid at a travellers camp as support for HMRC. it can turn from pleasantries to disorder in seconds...
  5. It could have been edited either way, i'm sure the police have enough footage of their own to argue the case.... as a matter of course at all riot's and events they have their own cameras and use Oscar99!
  6. AGREED, I'm sure the chief constable was well aware of the implications of using Tazer and that would have been passed on down the ranks. And again i would assume they only used the Tazer with Firearms officer rather than just an area car driver.
  7. Agreed only ever pull your ASP if you intend to use it for protection of yourself or others! And if it is used it won't be used lightly! Have to ask who was worse though the Travellers or Activists, i'd say activists!
  8. Evening all, Just relocated to Wiltshire, thus leaving my main permissions back in Herts/Essex area. Looking to see whose around the area for some Bunnies , would like to tag along on some foxes for some experience on them as well. Fully insured mature FAC holder for over 12 years. Cheers Tom
  9. Times have changed since then! ;-)
  10. Honkers aside.... There are more than a few specials worth their weight in gold. For example when the Riots were on our regs in Intervention had to be deployed into north london, we took over intervention for the weekend in 4 towns. How can you say there would be no need for specials, imagine a world where a reg would actually have to do some community work and physically attend a fete or carnival, or have to scene guard for hours on end, god forbid they do any of the mundane jobs!
  11. An interesting debate and conversation... Ive been a special in Herts for a few years now and i love it, especially the rural side of the Job! I'm in the process of transferring to Wiltshire and the forces do vary greatly. A lot of opinions from Regs and Specials, but in fairness when you first start out as a special you rely on teaming up with Regs for Training and guidance, and its fair to say there are some very Lazy and useless coppers out there who are unwilling to train or help specials and see them as a hinderance to their job when they could help them and lighten their own workload....
  12. Phone is in very good condition! Been used for a couple days as it's a spare business phone which the contracts have run out on. Possibly not had more than a couple of hours talk time. Can post pics but won't be till the weekend. Phone was on 02 contract. Hope that helps
  13. I have 1 x Apple Iphone 3GS in Black with 16gb Memory for sale. Had it sitting around in its box since i upgraded to the IP4. Comes boxed, with charger (no earphones as they have been used) Offers taken above £180 + Postage costs.
  14. mmmmmmm once actually on the lappy its usually some news sites, followed by Apple News websites. and then a peruse around PW at some stage!
  15. correct! i'm in the middle of saving for another Scope! but question is, do i A: buy a Variable Swaro / Schmidt for my .223 Remmy B: put S&B 8x56 on .223 and buy another scope for .17? C: get another S&B for my .223 Ben next time were out your welcome to try my 8x56 again on the HMR!
  16. So i'd agree a Variable scope in a top brand would be ideal, but there are budget costs to stick to (nick lol) in which case going for the better glass would make sense around the budget rather than a inferior glass which is a variable? either way you wont be dissapointed with a S&B 8x56!
  17. lol thank god for spare Batteries! I think over the golf course i'm going to leave the .22 in bag and take the HMR with me! However the Ruger was Very quiet!
  18. maybe it would be easier to attach bells to the rabbits for you! or maybe charge your lamp lol
  19. Ive heard good things on the Nikko's.
  20. you can spend as much as you like mate, and still miss lol !
  21. Well 90% of my shots are between 70-100 yards. With the odd shot over 100-120 yards, any further than that and I usually just walk closer as the bunnies are quite small in 8x mag. and you have to pick them up anyway, if you can't stalk a bunnie from 120 yards down to 100 or less your wearing the wrong aftershave ! I don't need to explain the difference in the bigger front lens and quality glass as you saw that from shooting mine that time.
