Its the "enlargement" spam emails I can,t get rid of.

I have a number of "cleansing" programmes, they are probably deleting the "cookies". I never thought of that. I will put Pigeon Watch in as an exception. I found a super spam email eliminator called Mail Washer. Its free, I have had it for a couple of weeks and its great. You open it first and it lists all emails that have come in and not been opened. You identify the spam and mark it for deletion and bouncing back to the sender. A sure way of ensuring they leave you alone. You then just go to your Outlook Express or similar and open the remaining emails as usual. Just put Mail Washer in your search engine and see what you think.
  3. I understand the thinking behind HH and Malcs comments. Progress and innovation just keep happening and there is only one thing we can do about it. That is, decide not to join in. Don,t get a digital camera or TV. Keep away from computers, if its too late, then keep away from Broadband (its very good though ) . The lists are endless. I,m not against anything that makes life and its contents easier and more comfortable. Rotary pigeon devices ? I,ve got one. Thats probably as "high tech" as I will go at the moment, until I see something that is truly revolutionary (as I believe the rotary to be). The gadgets may bring the pigeons in, but you still have to shoot them. No gadget is going to compensate for a poorly made and located hide. You will always need your fieldcraft. I don,t really care what the countryside fills up with on Saturdays and Sundays...........I only shoot in the week. :D

HH, don,t worry mate, most of life is a mystery to me. We need William back, the auto log-in is having on and off days as well.
  5. Errrrrrrrrrr, I don,t think so. Sounds rather interesting. I remember an electric duck decoy, but it just swam around in circles with lots of wing and head movement. Could be someone else has seen one of these "Mojos".

HH, we can,t reply on a "Poll Topic". There is also a slight fault with the Poll set-up. As you record your vote and move down the list, it eliminates your last vote. Thats why everyone has only vited for a 5 mile walk in the country. :D Modern technology........who understands it.
  7. I considered buying one or even two, but I came to the same conclusion. Most of my shooting is done over rape in leaf, grassland or laid wheat, I,m not sure you would see a "Pecker" in those circumstances. I also understand that wheat or rape stubble can prevent them operating properly. It would be nice if someone that had one could comment.
  8. Do you have "special" clothes that you wear pigeon shooting or do you just wear what comes to hand. We don,t need the intimate details, but what do you wear ? Me ? I wear a Tattersall shirt, dark green trousers (heavy or lightweight, as necessary) and a Musto coat, with a net cammo jacket over the top. In warm weather I wear a lightweight wp cammo jacket. I will also put wp cammo leggings on if its wet. I try to look smart.........the pigeons appreciate the effort.
  9. I can,t find anyone, including a web search, that sells these flappers. The ones I remember were home-made, but were probably copied from a shop bought item. I haven,t seen them for about 10-15 years. ARE THERE ANY OUT THERE ? SOMEONE MUST KNOW !!!!
  10. johnny, I haven,t seen those around for quite a while. Hopefully, someone else may have an answer, but I will make some enquiries. Welcome, by the way.
  11. Are "pre-charged" air weapons quiet then ? Can you get "pre-charged " pistols. I was not in the Boer War, you cheeky chappie. :( I had a bad leg. :(

Careful lazza, you don,t want to get us started on dinosaur decoys ............I remember they were big grey things, course I was only a lad and............
  13. I was considering a pistol purely on size. I will want to put it in my fishing bag, or coat pocket. Now thats difficult with a rifle. I,m still open to suggestions. A few of the isloated lakes that I fish have a very (un)healthy rat population. These vermin get very confident and come close, looking for bait, food etc. They soon run off if you reach for a catapult and a stone. But, if you sat there with a pistol on your knee........get the idea ? Dead-eye, Whats a "gas gun" ? Its not your paint-ball thingy , is it ? I want to kill the rat, not paint it .:( :(
  14. Malc, that makes two of us then, because I,m still trying to work out what you did wrong !!
  15. Does anyone have any recommendations for a small air pistol ? My local gunshop only has the "pro" stuff. I don,t want a target pistol, scope or anything elaborate. I would like a small, quiet pistol and cheap. It should be able to kill a rat at 15 ft.

Thems were hi-tech, the "Magnet" of their day.
  17. As the Forum is called "Pigeon WATCH" , I thought 20citori20,s posts formulated "An American VIEW". Corny, but I couldn,t think of anything else. :( Another great shoot. I have never thought of videotaping pigeon shooting. Although I normally shoot alone, I have shot with other people and I do have a digital camcorder. Did you know that the US has a different video formatting to us ? Our VHS tapes don,t work over there and vice versa. It costs about £50 to get a tape "converted". I have some great videos of fishing trips. They are as good as the ones you see on the Discovery channels, in fact they are funnier and more relaxed. Got the 195lb Common Skate, 80lb Blue Shark plus lots of "normal" fish all on tape. I must give a thought to the pigeon taping though, that could be fun. I am suprised that when deciding on the area that you are going to move to, you didn,t consider your hobbies. "All work and no play etc etc..........". Does your wife/partner (assuming you have one) have any interest in hunting ? I know a few chaps who take their ladies fishing with them and a few of the ladies actually fish. But, I have never known any chaps whose ladies like to hunt. Do any of the forum members know any shootin ladies ? Theirs or someone elses, it doesn,t matter.
  18. Its never happened to me, but I have never been in the situation you describe. I think the key point is the pulp waste being spread, I know this attracts seagulls. I suspect them being over your decoys was coincidental. The pigeons staying away may have had a lot to do with the pulp waste as well, I don,t think they are very keen on it.

The first pigeon decoys I used were glass milk bottles, painted grey, with two lines of white paint on each side of the bottle and round the neck. We then progressed to,homemade cut out tin, shell shaped decoys. The funny thing about these was that they were all different sizes, ranging from "blackbird" to "goose" size. Strangely the pigeons didn,t care. The recent hide question reminds me of another "old time" fact. Our hides were cut open potato sacks, nailed on to posts. We use to carry these everywhere and when set up, they were adorned with some nearby foliage and worked a treat. Nobody had invented Realtree or Advantage then.

I don,t think they are "essential", but they are "effective". Anything that puts movement into a decoy layout is good. Floaters or shell decoys bobbing in a breeze do it, they don,t have to be electrically powered. However, I have heard that electric peckers are the next big step forward in decoying.
  21. It depends where the image is. If its on a website: Right click on the picture. Left click on properties. Right click on "address/URL" and left click on "select all". Right click on highlighted "address/URL" and left click on "copy". Left click on "OK". Go to where you want to place the picture. Type . Thats it. That will work. :(
  22. William replied to an email from me and said that he will be away for two weeks , so there will not be any updates. I think he is still looking in...so be good. lazza,s in charge
  23. Crikey hh, I was nearly right with my "Foreign Legion" guess. Is it correct , that there are not many pigeons there, but you do get these big rabbits.
  24. Any comments from the Pro,s ? You,re the boys that do this for a living.
  25. Nice one Deako, thats something we should all remember. Often I think I,m going home, when I should be arriving. When I was working, some of my best shooting was after work, from about 6pm onwards.
