  1. I received my Attleborough Accessories Spring/Summer 2002 catalogue today. Brilliant, its very well presented and is a good read. Prices compare favourably and there is a wide choice of goods, including some interesting books. www.attacc.com
  2. PC, this could be one of those questions we may not like the answer to. If the Police ignore the Law, either through ignorance or the "blind eye" method, perhaps its best left that way. Best of luck in your research. I,m certainly not telephoning my local Police and asking them.
  3. PC Futrett, What about wildfowlers ? Most of their shooting is done between sunset and sunrise. My understanding was that it was at the "landowners" discretion. I,m not saying you are wrong, but its a new one to me.
  4. Many years ago I used cartridge belts, but got fed up with some cartridges falling out everytime I bent over. I even tried the metal clip belts, but couldn,t get the cartridges out in a hurry. I then switched to a cartridge bag, which was great for driven shooting or shooting standing up. Not so good for trying to get cartridges out when you are sitting down. Also it feels a bit bulky around my waist (which is also a bit bulky). Am I missing out on some new cartridge belt technology? What do you use ?

    Clocks

Kev, I,m sorry, I slightly mis-understood. We are both right. My point was, if you get up for work at say, 6 am. On Tuesday that will be 7 am. So you will have to get up at the "old" 5 am to get up at the "new" 6 am. Clear as mud. :(

    Logging in

William, I demand to be credited all of my "unregistered " postings. I have the "permanently logged on " box ticked and yet every now and then, I appear as "unregistered". I am doomed to never be categorized as an "Incredibly, Exceptional, Unbelievably, Cor Blimey Guvnor, Pigeon Shooter", if I don,t get all my post credits. Sort it out, Geezer !! :( :( :( :( :(

    Clocks

Kev, you have missed the point I,m afraid. CLOCKS FORWARD = LOSE 1 HOUR CLOCKS BACKWARD = GAIN 1 HOUR I,d hate you to be late for work on Tuesday. :(
  8. So is looking out the window and asking the old bloke next door what he thinks. Works best for me.
  9. tim, the problem with the written word is that it can get slightly misunderstood. :what: I read your comment as an opinion, but it could have seemed different to someone else. Anyway, did you find out why the auto gave you a backache ? Thats a new one to me.
  10. Over the years I have owned too many shotguns. At one time my collection was around 30 guns. Everything from a 3 shot bolt action .410 to a sidelock Army & Navy s/s. I have enjoyed using all of the guns, but I shot better with some than others, for one main reason. The gun fitted me and "felt" right. The majority of us buy ready made guns and some people pay very little attention to "fit". I consider weight a part of "fit" as well. Thats why I suggest to people to test fire the gun, if at all possible. I have owned Beretta and Remington gas autos and moaned when the regulations cut them back to 3 cartridges, but I have never seen the need for large capacity shotgun magazines. What is going to hang around long enough to have ten shots fired at it ? :0

    E Mails

William, the email facility does not appear to be working . If anybody else is finding it OK, please tell me, I may be doing something wrong. I just keep getting an error message.
  12. Hows that for service ? I telephoned my order on Friday evening. Posted a confirmation and cheque on Saturday. Received my decoys by courier today (Tuesday). The quality is superb and I am a very pleased Pigeon Decoyer. Thanks Deako !!
  13. Deako, Oats is not a crop that is grown a lot in our area. When I have seen it drilled it doesn,t seem to get a lot of pigeon attention. When the fields have ripened, the pigeons definitely prefer laid wheat to laid oats.
  14. I feel I had better add, that I DON,T have false teeth. I buy this product just for my flasks. HONEST !!!!!!!
  15. For those of us who are Kelly Kettleless and have to rely on a flask, here is a good cleaning tip. After washing it out, I fill it with hot water, right to the top and then drop in a false teeth cleaning capsule ( i.e.Steradent),but I use Tesco,s cheap version. Leave the flask overnight and rinse well in the morning. It freshens up the flask and there is no chemical "aftertaste".
  16. Thanks to a good source from Deako, I will shortly be the proud owner of some full-bodied and shell type flock covered decoys. Whilst they were a "good" price, I want them to last a long time. I need some advice. Is getting them wet a problem? How do you clean them? Is it OK to put them in the same bag as plastic decoys? Any other tips for their use, or care would be appreciated.
  17. Ah, the old Kelly Kettle, Mick, Us technically challenged people have to rely on a flask. I,ve never been able to light a Tilley Lamp either.
  18. I,ve found this picture of Steve, about to go seagull shooting, having got out of bed on the wrong side :( I hope you,ve got a good sense of humour Steve.
  19. peter, my "understanding" is that you can shoot pigeons at night. In the same way you can shoot ducks ,geese and vermin at night. You cannot shoot "game" at night, ie. pheasants, partridge,or deer. Do you "call" your foxes in, or do you locate them and rely on your rifles range ? We have "called" them by rubbing a small block of polystyrene on the landrover windscreen, the squeaking noise it makes seems irresistable to foxes. A friend (who moved abroad some time ago) use to be able to call them by squeaking in to his hand, something I can,t do. Is your rifle "silenced"? We use 12 bores and have to cover quite an area in an evening because of possible disturbance to people as well as foxes. Its not all suitable land to use a rifle on.
  20. Steve, I didn,t get the impression that anybody was "knocking" you for shooting them. I certainly wasn,t. I do not shoot in wildernesses and have to assume that most of the time someone could be watching me, albeit from a distance. I try to be aware of this. I leave my hide and kill a wounded pigeon quickly. I am careful when relieving myself. I don,t shoot at any birds other than pigeons, crows, magpies or jays. I pick up all dead birds and take them from the shooting area. I have no wish to cause "controversy" with any of my actions. If I give nobody a reason to complain ,they can,t. I don,t see this attitude as weakening my "rights". It gives me peace of mind and doesn,t spoil my sporting interests at all.
  21. Big Dave, Hopefully, once you have decided on a make and model, you will have the chance to try it out on clays before you buy. Don,t be put off by the weight, remember when you are decoying, the gun is resting on your lap or elsewhere for 95% of the time. Its not as though you are having to carry it around all day. Good Dad you,ve got there......worth keeping.
  22. William, my intention was to see if anyone took anything out of the ordinary. A seat, is not "out of the ordinary". I,m typing this slowly so that you understand.
  23. Not many people know that certain species of seagull can be shot. Even fewer could tell the difference between the species. I suspect if you were witnessed shooting seagulls, everybody would misunderstand. I would anticipate lots of unecessary grief.

    lazza

lazza, I am trying to send you a Message, but it says your message box is full !!! Pull the chain lazza !!!!:( I tried to send you an email, but there is an error message coming up on this site. Could you please email me your local gunshops telephone number. I want a pecker decoy (or two), but not yet. I will get them before the Autumn. I fish more than shoot during the Summer months. Thanks for your help.
  25. My decision on this was to leave it. I wondered how I would feel if someone shot all day long out the back of my house. Probably not very happy. The Farmer understood and equally doesn,t need the aggro, or bad public relations.
