  1. Hi All I suppose this is aimed at (forgive the pun ) the Northern Ireland fraternity of shooters I am looking to buy hmr 20 grain rounds but for the life of me no one seems to have any here in the province does any one here know of a supplier that has them ? , I don't mind traveling from the city of Belfast to get them but there seems to be a shortage here for some reason and a pointer in the right direction would be of great help the 17 grain are abundant and I can get them any where but the 20 grain are scarce to say the least Thanks in advance Q
  2. Hi Anything will do but i would recomend an objective lens of around 50mm as this gathers a lot of light and is a plus for shooting under lamping conditions, as target aquisition is pretty simple i use a cheap and nasty version but it does its job and does it well, Rabbit , Fox and even woodcock have fell to it so dont assume more expense the more kills, dosent work. Something with a clear view and a large objective will suffice, as u see from my pic (left) thats cheap, £25 of the dreaded flea bay, BUT it has done its job and done it well, side paralax is something to consider as its a lot less hassle to focus ... Happy Hunting..................
  3. Norman Harpur maguires bridge fermanagh £10 per box 17grn Hornaday (blue) or 11.25 for 20grn Hornady XTPs
  4. Had the SX2 winni but a bit of a heavy ****** took it to trade in and opted for the lighter 812 synthetic boy what a difference, light and very pointable and it hasnt missed a beat straight shooting , look down the bead and hit whats at the end of it brilliant little gun, fits and shoots better than the winchester ( in my opinion ) winchester shot high of the double bead and had to have stock shims fitted which the 812 didnt need just a perfect fit from the off, may not be as refined as the others but a first class work horse....................
  5. Yep agree with MM just a wipe with oil just before it goes into cabinet and a patch through it with oil will keep it looking and working fine
  6. hi agjm sorry its a repeat silly of me not looking for the subject but in reading the thread it seems its happening all the time so no worries thanks pal for the pointer Q
  7. Hi All Went out earlier this week and bought 200 rounds of the afore mentioned rounds (Fed V-Shok) just to put down range and see if the CZ 452 liked them or not and the answer is most definatley not couldnt put more than 3 rounds in a bull @ 100yds so gave up BUT looking at the spent brass i discovered 28 out of the fifty that i had fired were split just at the neckdown point which I didnt like or consider to be safe has anyone else had the problem of split brass cases and what would your opinion be?? 8. Hi All Well took the new CZ 452 .17 HMR (Varmint)16 inch out today for the first time since getting it a tad over a week ago just to zero the scope. Set the 1" squared target at 50 yards as there was a left to right wind around 4 to 5 mph blowing so decided to keep it short for now had a few rounds at it and was fireing high and right but within 5 rounds was knocking the center out of the bull every time (1") AND THEN THE INEVITABLE HAPPENED it started to pour with rain as i took this target down so I put the last 5 rounds through this superbly accurate little rifle before getting soaked but as you see from the pic I could have adjusted the turrets another quarter up and took dead center of the target out without a problem. Rounds were 17 Hornaday v-max (Blue Tip not that the colour matters Red or Blue)17 grain scope set to 10x mag 5 rounds grouped in less than half an inch not bad aan very accurate So all in all I am really pleased that I took the 17 and not the .22 as my mate has a ruger 10/22 and although accurate not my cup of tea. and sorry to all 10/22 owners but each to thier own, different strokes and all that so if your considering a rimmy and in two minds go for the CZ SUPERB Freddie aka Quiver
  9. Well I put in for a varation to my existing license on the 13th of the first 2011 was sent back cos it wernt signed(geez what a numpty) so hand delivered it on the 23rd of Jan. and it came back today all signed sealed and delivered for a CZ .17 HMR + Mod. so 2 weeks down the line its returned ,took nearly a year for the shotgun to come through SOO i may hear you ask has Lisnashambles got thier act together? only time will tell as others are left waiting and i hope its not long for you Delighted or What ???

  13. I was in getting a load of cartridges (to shoot live things) and on the counter were letters of disapproval to the ban on dogs and the ban on the wild fowling aspect as well as the snare its the first one i have came across with such pre worded letters and addressed envelopes just sign and put a stamp on it, I was in Braddels the other day and they have no such letters so how many more RFDs hav`nt got these letters to give to the shooting circle? a lot more than you would probably expected.......... Is it not in thier interest also to take up the reins and push the relevent letters ?? Had a reply from Mr.N.Dodds after i emailed him and i Quote:- Dear Mr Txxxxxxxx Many thanks for your email. I am grateful for you drawing this to my attention and I will certainly raise it with the authorities to see if it can be sorted out. When I have further information I will, of course, be in touch. Yours sincerely Nigel Dodds OBE MLA Seems from that HE dosent even know its up for debate ,, A set of blinkers comes to mind ! Quiver
  14. Hi All I have sent my tuppence worth of dissaproval on the bill as we as a shooting fraternity are also entitled to our rights and i dont think the government have the right to steam roll its people into something that the greater majority dont want ,its the same old senario, get it passed and it will blow over soon not this time its time the people stood up for the people not some faceless beurocrat deciding what is good for us, if it keeps on going the only thing we will be allowed to shoot is clay pigeons if you are reading this and you dissagree with the ban grow a pair and do something about it let those who dissagree have there say but i am sure the majority will want the current legislation to stay,,I am only one voice but the community has many so get your presence felt and write to whom ever you like but dont let it pass you by as we all may regret it in the end................................
