  1. Just to clarify-- you pay £140 guided/ stalked into a Deer shoot one cull animal (NO TROPHY) Job done !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I understand the culling some have no stalking BUT £140?? Knock the 0 off £14
  2. Cushat and Scolopax (you no from other forums) thanks for helping me out i am not very good at getting my point accross in tpye cheer's to you both spot on
  3. My first Deer ever i neck shot, dropped to shot perfect. Then got the Biggest talking to of my life all of which i thought was rubbish Me stating and thinking what's the problem. Not to long after this first Deer the fact's i had been warned about came true i poll axed a head shot deer only for it to get up and go offering no chance of a shot, lost for ever to die a slow death. With a rib shot YES you can lose a piece of meat SO WHAT and Yes i have screwed this shot, not very nice for us with a conscience BUT in MOST cases, Rib messed up shot's if allowed to do so Deer will lay up and stiffen (yes it's suffering NOT NICE) then offering the chance of a Killing shot. With "HEAD or NECK" screw up's, Side of head's go, wind pipe blowen out, these Deer can drop to shot and give the shooter no cause for concern only then recover and get away. In most case lost forever and dieing a horrific death. I learnt the hard way, and most people who have shot numbers (a lot of deer) will have done and will have the balls to admit this. Trust me a Head or neck shot offers more risk than a rib shot no matter who you are or how good with your rifle. This is just my honest op pion. Not jumping on the band wagon of other's. You might shot x number no prob's but when you scew up it will be horrific for the deer and should also be for you
  4. Highlander comment's where not aimed at you  I have and some time's need to take Head or neck shot's but not on every occasion i go to shoot a Deer. We can all well most shoot good group's on paper living moving Quarry is different and i am "NO" exception to this rule. Clearing up after any meessed shot is bad but the Head and neck cock up's well enough said.
  5. Normally with a missed placed rib shot, the chance of recovering the Deer is high. Head and neck messed up shot result in a long slow death due to the fact they can run very well. Again rearing it's ugly head "The game Dealer pay's more for Head Neck shot Deer" Change your Game Dealer better still go Competition shooting with a 100% record you will earn a fortune!!!!!!!!!!!! I my self learnt the hard way, rear head/necked a Fallow droped to shot went to check the eye's for death, up get's the deer offering KNOW chance of a shot lost forever. And yes the trend does seem to be (in my area at least) Deer mean MONEY so totally inexperienced rifle shot by advice from his F.A.O get's a D.S.C.1 Then a deer rifle in my oppion a recipe for disaster As for me i cull 150-200 Deer from mid October and March to my own Rfle.
  6. How many time's have i heard that "ONLY HEAD OR NECK" Deer a "CLEAN MISS" or "CLEAN KILL" what a crock or bull. Deer are living breathing moving target's "NOT A PAPER TARGET" last season alone i shot two Fallow with shattered jaw's and one with a blowen out wind pipe all from one locally Head neck shot expert. As for the back of the head shot, i saw a Munty Doe from 60yr's lose the side of it'd head and ear (it moved) the horrific noise that Munty made was unreal untill it could be shot again. Yes i have made mistake's and probally will in the future. Give the Animals the respect they deserve
  7. Stag's Head shooting!!!!!!!!!! you sound one helluva stalker "NOT"
  8. one man's Love is another mans hate that is affect of life. But for me it is a hard pill to swallow people stating steel is ####. My one or two Geese a season is in fact several Pinkfeet, flighting Geese nothing tame about them. A m8t of mine does not like the Cartridge's i use, Make-shot size and i don't like his choice but this does not effect our friendship and we both kill Geese consistently at the range's we feel comfortable at and within our ability, just because those that cant or have not got the skill DONT knock those that can
  9. MC Steel First post on here, i think August 09 Robin Scott (sporting gun) done a article stating he would not even put steel shells in his Gun. Trough a good mate i offered to take Mr Scott Goose shooting to show him what Steel could do and for him to do a Article on these, Yep he declined "WHY" I shoot one or two Geese every season and shoot 95% with Steel Factory loaded 1-3 shot and I'm not talking 30-40yrd Geese, and this season i will be try homeloads as i have been reliably informed its far better than factory Steel. Put Steel along with any other type of shot it will "Kill" a lot of talk of Steel being #### is total rubbish and all in the head
