  1. Sad times. The local shoot which myself and the brother in law took over the keepering of when the farmer had a stroke is closing down. The land is owned by the church and they have decided to run it themselves! Over the last couple of years we have improved the shoot, taking average days from 30s to having 80s and a couple of 100s this season. Very dissapointed in the lack of communication from the agent. They seem to think they can put on corporate days shooting 400 birds! Its only a small woodland shoot of around 150 acres with a bit of grass land around the edges. As a result of this i may need to sell my centrfire as i wont have land cleared for its use. Really fed up with the whole thing. Anybody else had this happen? Seems quite common nowadays.
  2. Cheers for the heads up mate.
  3. Hi all. Our bitch gave birth to 12 superb pups 5 weeks ago. 7 dogs and 5 bitches. We have sold 4 dogs so far. The parents both belong to us and are superb working dogs. We kept a bitch from the litter we had 2 years ago, and she too is turning out to be superb. Both parents have many ft champs and winners in their pedigree. We are asking 350 for dogs and 400 for the bitches. Anybody seriously interested then please pm me. They wont be leaving us until they are 8 weeks old.

  8. Im after fallen trees or logs which may be in your way or causing a nuisance! Basically the whole family have open fires or wood burners so looking at a cheap way to fill the log store for winter! Leicestershire ideally!! Will pay accordingly. Cheers jay
  9. HELP!! Im not impressed. Got the gun out to go claying yesterday and noticed some marks in the bores. Ran the mop through it as i thought i may have left some fluff or oil after cleaning it last month. Turns out that both barrels are pitted quite badly. Its not had a massive ammount of use, 1000 rounds at most over 3 years, cleaned day after shooting at worst. I thought winchester barrels were chrome lined? My old 303 beretta was never cleaned or looked after and when i traded it in the barrels were still like new. What can i do? does anybody else have experience of this issue? Regards james
  10. The stream at the back of our field appears to be teeming with crayfish!! Have collected quite an assortment of body bits over the last few evenings while walking the dogs. Have identified them as signal crayfish so legal to catch with one of those permits from enviro agency. Has anybody tried catching them from streams before? Best tactic/bait ideally. Also do you need to purge them in any way to remove toxins? Regards james
  11. No idea how long theyve been there? Grafam has some monsters upto 20lb apparently. They thrive in the reservoirs due to the large number of course fish which thrive in the environment.
  12. Last time i was out we had loads of zander up to about 6lb and a pike of just under 10. The spot for zander is about 10 feet from normanton church stones, Every drift produced a fish! Strangely enough had a few trout from the same spot. I reckon if you could get down below the small zander there would be some good uns lurking there. A bloke had a 15lb one a couple of weeks ago during a match but it swallowed the lure and had to be taken out. Impressive fish.
  13. ******* brilliant!! More bad press for the legitimate shooting community! Why do these *** heads feel the need to draw attention to our sport and hobby by doing such daft things? Even if he didnt actually kill ans BOPs it looks bad. They must have had actual evidence that hed done wrong otherwise why would they waste money on proescuting him? Cant wait til countryfile or the one show now!!
  14. We run a yamaha kodiak 400 and weve just completed a polaris big boss 6x6. The yam has been awesome just not big enough for me and bro in law 35 stone combined plus bags of corn! the polaris has a large tipping body and can carry 900lbs!! The polaris is a 350 2 stroke but will pull a house down and goes like a scalded cat! We had a cheapo nipanese quad which was horific and broke daily! Dont skimp and make sure you buy the best you can afford. We are fortunate that im a trained mechanic and in laws are eletrical engineers so weve got all bases covered!
  15. Due to fitting a bed rug in the back of our truck ive got a set of 4 tie down cleats and the rear length of channel available. These sell for over £100 on ebay so im asking £80 for them on here before i bay them! Regards jay
  16. Rot like nothing i have ever encountered!! Bro in law had one, needed to weld up both front inner arches and the entire rear end! No rust protection anywhere! Told him to get shot asap!
  17. Good idea with the pointing out how trapping maggies and corvids helps the songbird population. How about a clear laminated sign saying THIS TRAP IS IN USE TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE THE HARMONIC BALANCE OF OUR THREATENED NATIVE SONGBIRD POPULATION
  18. Id go with the a frame balljoint being favourite. When youve got your mate with you the extra weight in the car may be putting enough pressure on it to stop it knocking.
  19. Simples!! Jack the back end up high enough to remove the wheel on the side with the broken spring. Remove the wheel. undo the u bolts holding axle to spring while supporting the axle with another jack. Undo the shackle plates holding each end of the spring. Remove spring and fit new. Make sure the vehicle is chocked and axle stands are used incase of slippage!! If in any doubt get a garage to do it! Shame your not nearer as i could have done it for you!! Regards james
  20. After a wander round the shoot tonight it seems we have a fox about. Several piles of feathers dotted at various points about the place. As the release pen is situated in the woods i think now is the time to sort the foxes out. The main problem is that there are rides cut through the place with a couple of high seats dotted about the place but i just dont have the time to sit for hours on end waiting on the off chance foxy will appear! Does anyone have any tips for luring it to a point where i can deal with it? I have a 22-250 which will hit a nail head at 100yds so range isnt a problem just position! Regards james
  21. If anyone local to leicester is getting rid of a mod suitable for my 22-250 ruger then drop me a pm as im after1! Ta james
  22. Use the cheapest mineral oil 15/40 you can! Use semi synth at your peril!! Cleans all the **** out of the oil ways and bungs the smaller ones up, also finds its way past any seal it can!!
  23. Clutch release bearing. If its not overly noisy leave it alone!!
