  3. I take it they do not make great eating. Is this another " cook the bird with a brick recipe"

  8. Will be a day that Rapid Basher will never forget Well done, Andrew, another lifetime memory you've created for a happy shooter. I would certainly love to have the opportunity to take a beautiful beast like the one shown here. Have you any spaces this side of Christmas available?
  9. I've had my Howa 243 for 3 months now, quite impressed What Scope rail / rings & moderator have you got on yours?
  10. Is that 2 young pigeons on the left? I have shot 5 young woodpigeons in 2 weekends......some of the earliest I have ever shot!! They must have been nesting in early December
  11. Thanks for the support lads. Just for the record, Teal is nearly 6 years old, but is still a very hard working dog, (until this problem). i have been advised he would need total rest for 2 months, with lead walks. Then a further 2 months gentle exercise, (especially swimming), to build back any fitness or mucscle loss. This i would gladly go through with Teal, if i was confident this operation and rehabilitation would get Teal to someway near his normal capabilities. I would sincerely appreciate any positive/negative feedback on this type of repair, as i do intend to work Teal if this operation is carried out. If after this operation, Teal was unable to work, it would be as devastating for him and as it would be for me. I do not think Teal could live the life of a pet, and for the cost of this operation, i could aquire a very good dog as a working replacement. Many Thanks John
  12. [attac hment=25175:teal_2__Small_.jpg]I hope some one will read this and give me some much needed advice. Has anybody had a springer with a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament or heard of any springer owner who has had this problem. My trusted springer, Teal, has ruptured this ligament in his rear leg and under advice from my vet, will need an operation to rectify this, at a cost of around £1200, with only a 75% chance of regaining full strength in his leg. I am out of my mind with worry as to wether this operation is likely to be successful, both for Teal's working future and my needs for my working Springer. I sincerely don't want to lose my very trusted companion and would be immensely grateful if anyone has any relevant history or results with this type of repair, (known as a EXTRACAPSULAR REPAIR). The operation is booked for Friday 12th June, and my decision has to be made, reluctantly, by then. Thanks John
  13. Have you any pictures or spec' (sizes/locks etc)?
  14. Well done, Maxwell Sometimes a unplanned smaller bag shoot is just as enjoyable as having a red letter day. Keep It Up, Mate
  15. Possibly Magpie or Crows having a quick freeby meal. A stoat would have probably dragged it away, and i would have thought a buzzard would have carried it away to eat.
  16. I use 32 gram 6's through 1/4 and half chokes on my Miroku tom uses 24gram/28 gram 6's through his fixed choke 20 bore (1/2 & 3/4 chokes)
  17. I have been watching this field of bean stubble patiently since Tom and i shot 97 woodies on it 3 weeks ago, (3 pigeons shy of the ton :yp: ) Pigeons numbers had steadily built back up on the field so decided to have a day last weekend. i stopped using the pigeon magnet back in July, as the pigeons seemed to have got very wary of them this year. So i set up with a flapper, and half a dozen flocked decoys, smack under the crossing of two well used flightlines. Frantic 5 hour session, including 3 woodies for two shots flying , (5th time this summer, witnessed 3 times), shooting off 194 catridges. Finished the afternoon with 147 woodpigeons. Have had some cracking bags over the last few months but stopped posting photos here cus they keep disappearing havent seen many photos of pigeon bags on here for a while, is it quiet where you are?
  18. is that not a protected species next to the blackie B)
  19. Had a very good day on wheat stubble with my dad. We finished another brilliant day on the pigeons with a total of 119 woodpigeons, 6 crows and 10 jackdaws. I shot 18 pigeons, 4 jackdaws and a crow . With my dad taking the rest of the bag. We eventually set up at around 12, with the birds decoying very well from the start. We may of shot more but we had a constant interuption from the feral pigons as they were disrupting the flight-line of the 'woodies'. I sat back and watched 'the pro' shoot 3 crows with 2 shots flying. I shot well as i had 24 shots and only missed 3 times which i'm over the moon with.
  20. Great shooting SS Congrats on your your first Ton Day, one you wont forget in a hurry Nice to see the dog performed as well as the shooter.
