It was a stupid thing to do...those Marines have singlehandedly undone a lot of the hard work put in by ISAF troops across Afghanistan and undermined their professionalism by desecrating a corpse. It makes no odds if the body was a Talib or not...the Afghans will just see an ISAF soldier desecrating an Islamic corpse. It doesn't take much to change the loyalty of your average Afghan, and stunts like this, spread across the media really dont help.

I opened mine with "this is the one and only time I will be allowed to speak on behalf of my wife..." It got the laugh I was after, and broke that little nervous knot in my stomach...the rest of my (very short) speech was just thanking the people who helped make the day happen - the best man, family who helped organise, and obviously the wife for accepting me into her life leave all the jokes and anecdotes to the best man...just thank the people that matter and enjoy your day. Hope it all goes well. G

I have a pair of Meindl desert boots which have lasted through a fair bit so far. They took a while to break in, but it was worth it...they are a very comfy pair of boots.

My 2 Apache plants have started to flower and one of them has a 1cm chilli on it...very pleased with myself as a first time chilli grower! My plants are just on the window sill of a west-facing window, and they get a quick spray of water each day.

good luck getting MTP...I just picked up my kitting, and I have been told that some of my kit is a different size to what I ordered due to the manufacturer not keeping up with demand...however, as stated there is going to a whole load of DPM kit floating around by next year

Now that AQ have acknowledged the killing of OBL, this topic should look at the legality of the whole situation... Have the US acted outside the bounds of the law by killing an unarmed man, or have they taken out a legitimate target? My thoughts are that despite the dubious legal arguements (the BBC article sums it up quite well), there is no way any international court will be the ones to step up to the plate and initiate proceedings...
