my mates howa .223 loves the ppu 55gr soft point

i should have a .22 hornet on its way to me just now but still no sign of it, starting to get a bit impatient

i am 99% sure that one of peter hawkers books "advice to young sportsmen" has detailed plans of gunning punts, plans for single and two man punts as well as punts for guns of different weights. i would love to make one some day for my RFDs punt gun.

i too have shot 2 rabbits with 1 shot with .22lr and even seen the bullet hit the grass at the other side of the second one. you would think that if it were a dud bullet i would have missed them

its not white but here is a pic i took a couple of months ago of a funny coloured rabbit (top right). most of the rabbits in the area this one was in are orangy colour, this one is a lot lighter. you can see a normal coloured one in the foreground (bottom left). pics not great as its off my phone but you can see the colours.

i started with a .17hmr then got a .22lr, had them both for a while, sold the .17hmr to fund another shotgun with the intention of replacing it sometime. i never have and to be honest i havnt really missed it that much. IMO go for a .22lr

victornox 8" filleting knife for taking the breasts off geese, easy to sharpen, holds edge well.
frosts 8" butchers knife for the legs/necks/gutting of ducks, rabbits etc, again easy to sharpen and holds edge well.
anything else i can think of is done with my gerber AR 3.0 folding knife which i have only had a couple of weeks but so far i am impressed with. easy enough to sharpen and seems to keep it. sits nice in the hand too, once i took the horrible clip off it.
i bought the gerber to replace a knife i have had for probably 5-6 years and try as i might i could not lose it. i hated that knife, it couldnt take an edge to save itself, i have seen lead take a better edge. god i hated that knife, why i had so long is beyond me
. i will probably lose the gerber before the end of the week

With a solid bullet, yes probably . Saying that, when was the last time you found a rimfire bullet in a rabbit, hollowpoint or otherwise?
i have found two, one was laying on the grass about a foot away on the other side of a rabbit i had shot broad side at 30 odd yards and the other was sticking in the skin on the other side of a rabbit shot broad side, cant remember how far away that one was but it wasnt that far. both were winchester subsonic hollows. this is a pic of the one i found on the grass, i didnt keep the other one.
edit to say-good grief the pic aint good but you get the picture.
another edit to say, no pun intended

The pen is black, and has at least a sixth of the ink still in it.
The button is white and in excellent condition(4 hole version)
Update, youngest son has claimed back the pen,so no longer part of deal
Sorry for any inconvenience .
That is one good looking button though
you were so close as black was just what i was looking for. i have also checked my suit and as you can see from this pic of me from last night all the buttons are intact so sorry no sale

i always use mine unless when rabbit shooting in which case i would usually carry 50 shells in my pockets depending how close i was to the car.

i am truly stunned at this post. as someone else said, shame on you. you heartless, callous human being. to have thought something like that i would hope that you didnt have kids and if you do i am worried.

i remember shooting 6 mallard with 6 shots with 3 rights and lefts. it was a while ago but i remember it like it was yesterday. it was a very frosty morning with a good covering of snow and my uncle dropped me off at a small loch that was frozen solid but it was only to wait till a bit of light came in. there is a burn that runs from the loch that for some reason always stays open when almost everything is frozen up and if you can hit it right there is always a few mallard. i waited till there was enough light to see with and set off and within 100 yards a pair got up and i dropped them both, a drake and a duck both in the bag. i walked a fair bit before i saw anything else, probably about a mile, another pair got up and they too both fell, another drake and a duck in the bag. when i was almost at the end of my walk i was nearly scared something would get up that i would miss but another pair got up and were both secured, another drake and a duck. it wasnt my unusual marksmanship that made the morning (although it did help), it was the perfect conditions, the crisp fresh morning, the fact that the birds fell clean and the scenery was stunning. its not a morning i will forget in a hurry.

Pavman will pay you way over that and use them in the dark hours for "survialing" the woman that was flashing him
thats all i have used them for

i agree with coyotemaster, try different shells. i havnt done a lot of pattern testing but i do remember trying lead BBs through my sx3 field with half choke at 50 yards and the pattern was terrible but through my friends sx3 composite with half choke and the same shells the patterns were great, and that was done with 5 shots through each gun, not just a one off.

keep the offers coming
fisheruk, you are right, the last bridge is missing but there is a wonderful ferry that will take you here, you will love it. its only 12/14 hours and will only cost you the price of a small space station
-
i shot for a couple of seasons with an old winchester 120 pump which was multi choke and the only choke i had was full so i took it out and used it with no choke, i loved that gun. i just kept things a bit closer.

these are not berdan primed as i decapped them with a standard sizeing die and there is only one flash hole.
