  1.

More importantly, did you get the goose?

i did yes, and the dog retrieved it. :good: dog......mans best friend . could you imagine if you had just packed the wife into a muddy hole, do you think she would have done anything for you ever again

  2. i have always hung my birds up by the feet, i think its just the way i was shown as a boy. i have been told the proper way is to hang them by the neck so that the guts isnt laying up against the breasts but i have never noticed any difference when i have tried it. the thing i sometimes think about, especially with say a goose thats been shot coming off water, is the amount of green water that pours out of it when hung up by the feet, that would all stay in if hung by the neck.

  3. i remember one outing with my friends four bore, i was sitting on the edge of a ditch that the cattle had trodden into a mire and i spotted a single goose heading towards me a bit out to the side but still in range and without giving it enough thought i fired and found myself going back over. i glanced behind me as i started going back and noticed the dog sitting between me and this stinking mire and instinctivly i put out my hand and packed the poor hound almost out of site in the mire  , what a look i got from the dog as he dragged himself out, if looks could kill

  4. its not as bad as you would think, the recoil isnt bad its just a big push so getting on to another bird is ok. the thing you have to keep in mind is if caught off balance and you start going back over just keep going rather than fight it cause you wont win

  5. What is about todays women or men. Are we wimps? I have several guns, PCP's and Shotguns all locked away. Her who must be obeyed thinks i am a big kid and " DOESN'T WANT TO SEE THEM"

She thinks all animals are cute even the rats who i catch in cages and dispatch much to her disaproval.

What happened to all the hard women i used to hear to about who would ring their own rabbit's neck.

My wife is also a lazy and **** cook and she will admit this but the mother inlaw is an excellent cook. I do most of cooking because i enjoy my food.

As i read on hear a few month's ago, quote, " If i die I hope my wife sells my guns for what they are worth and not what i told her they worth".

    Sigh and bigger sigh.

Bring a dead rabbit home? Must be joking, i would be homeless. Where does she think meat comes from?

By the way i am 52 missus is 44, not young pups any more. [ She is a beaut tho', so this does help ]

here is someone else who is needing a good hard working shetland woman, leave it with me and i will see what i can do :good:

heres jessy, 22 year old, boiling sheeps intestines. hard working, never complains, guts rabbits at a rate of 42 per minute whilst darning socks. slip me a PM and i can sort you out with a contact number

  6. i think the best allergie i have heard of was a guy that worked with us who refused to work with the cosywrap/glass wool insulation because he was allergic to it, when asked what it did to him he replied............ yes you have guessed it, it made him all ITCHY

  7. Aye, but my double eight is a thing of beauty, whereas that double four is a hideous lump  .

(Seriously though what is that stock all about ? :look: )

totaly agree, i dont know what its all about, it must be for ballance. either that or it was built for a giant because i cant get my hand around the grip  the watson brothers ones in the link look a bit more refined

  8. here in shetland all the certs are open, i handnt heard of anything else until i joined PW, and i have never heard of land being cleared for a certain calibre. the police is very laid back up here, a 21 year old boy applied for his first FAC and was granted it with a .22lr, .17hmr, 22-250, 243 and a 338 lapua mag :o :o :o

  9. gamebore mammoth are a 3" 50gram in BB or no3 and a 3 1/2" 63gram in BB or no1. its the gamebore buffalo that do a 36 gram BB, no4 5 and 6.

i usually use the buffalo no4 for ducks and the mammoth 50 gram no3 for geese, where permissible. although IMO i reckon the buffalo 42 gram no3 would be better for the geese than the 36 gram BB's but each to there own, i have never got on that well with BB's for geese, my sx3 has always patterned better with no3. :good:

  10. you either like em big or her wellies dont fit!

nothing to do with size, just that the wellys are on 24/7.

here is Babby, a 19 year old showing great promise, the hump is coming along great, and she can gut rabbits at the rate of 40 a minute whilst knitting. here in shetland women are still bred for work. if the OP is still looking for a new woman, PM me and i can set you up.

  11. sounds like you need a new wife. the three things that need to be in place before i would even contemplate going any further with a woman is mud under the finger nails, red ring around her calfs from the wellys and and a small hump starting to form in her back back from picking potatos, if those three things are in place she is good to go and you will have no problems when it comes to gutting/butchering etc.

  12. After about a thousand you get use to it. Deer don't bother me either, the only things I hate gutting are ducks, ducks innards are really gross, everything else isn't a problem, pheasant, partridges, deer, lambs, pigs etc. all fine. But ducks are simply revolting, poking your little pinky through the '***** to make sure all the poop is gone is likewise simply rancorous. We never wear gloves when doing ducks either, that doesn't help.

the best ones to gut are ducks that have been feeding on frosted potatos, they smell lovely

instead of poking your finger up its hole try cutting the whole ring piece away, hold the ring piece between finger and thumb and cut it away so there is nothing left connecting the pipe to the body. this way the guts come away clean and you can be sure there is nothing left to contain any nastys
