  1. cheers simmo, as i say nice to hear it happens to us all, looking forward to getting back out there.
  2. many thanks cranfield, i've had a few 50 bird days, but when you're their from dawn til dusk with a crow for your efforts, on more than one occassion, one can start to feel somewhat disheartened. however, punishing as it may be, i shall struggle on
  3. like i say the rape was probably about 3 weeks or a month ago but cheers for the advice with the peas etc. i think there's some bean fields knocking about on the farm i visit but i'll have to ask my shooting partner. badgerman.
  4. well i haven't been able to go out for a while but when i was out it was rape, which the pigeons were destroying. it was getting a bit long in places but they were returning to the parts that they had already eaten short. which was where i was decoying primarily.
  5. i'm a keen pigeon shooter and thoroughly enjoy decoying which i've been involved with now regularly for about 2 years. however, i often go out and won't shoot a thing all day or only a couple. this can be very frustrating when it doesn't seem to get any better but i know nothing major is wrong with my set-up and i've checked out where they're feeding etc. it's not that i'm missing, the pigeons just aren't there to shoot, or they just ignore the decoys. does anyone else frequently experience such low turnout's? or is it just the time of the year? please assure me it'll be better come summer cos i might have to take up painting instead.
  6. my school was the same but only if we used the website adress would it block it, if you go through google to access these websites it usually works, or at least at did for me. good luck. badger.
  7. 22, but i know i was on for the record, then my gun kept jamming, those carts were too light. and i tripped over a couple of times and then my dog was trying to run out and retrieve and i was pulling him back, but i know i would've won. plus those ruddy chokes.
  8. i'd be interested aswell, looks like a nice gun, just live too far away.
  9. abandoned at birth, raised by badgers, but retain many manly qualities .
  10. thing is i've got a couple of beretta 686's i can use which have always been great for my purposes but as i'm doing so much decoying and planning to do a lot more over the summer (3 months off from uni), i thought a semi-auto would be a nice touch. been shooting since i was pretty young it's just i don't know much about semi-auto's, hence the investigating. i don't even know if it will be an advantage in the hide yet.
  11. it is a thought cos i like the look of the escort and its one of the guns you can get in cammo or just synthetic quite easily and still quite cheap, but i have no idea how much stock extensions on escorts would cost, anyone got any thoughts on that? plus i don't think they hold their value very well so i don't want to put more money into a gun that's already losing a lot of worth. since looking around i've upped my budget to about £400. Badger
  12. many thanks for the advice guys, having looked at the options i'm still unsure, being quite a tall bloke i think escort stock's might be a bit short, beretta's seem a bit pricey. i'll have to have a think about this one. badger.
  13. hello there, i'm 19 and have been decoying now for about 2 years with my older brother. bag's have been mixed but i thoroughly enjoy the days out. i'm now lookin to get myself my own shotgun that will mainly be used for pigeons and quite regularly too. i've got about £300 to spend and i've been lookin at some semi-auto hatsan escort mossy oak cammo's which look rather nice. i was wondering though if people round here think semi'-auto's are any good or any better than your usual double barrel for decoying etc. and furthermore any experience with the aforementioned model? any help much appreciated. bob.
