Many vices, including: Rooting, Shooting, and Scooting!
  1. How do people separate the stones away from the sloes?
  2. Noted, and possibly true - was using 1/2 choke barrel I think, just not had that before. Thanks also to Wymberley for the concise advice.
  3. Thanks for the replies chaps, not patterned this particular gun yet but I will do. I know this 'shotballing' is a rare occurence but its quite worrying to think that possibly an ounce of lead could potentially be hurtling through the air! I bought some different cartridges today, so will pattern with them and a selection of a few others to see what seems to suit.
  4. Hi, i shot a pigeon the other day at about 20+yds, left to right crosser but quartering away. It came down hard by the amount of feathers but landed over the hedge in the adjoining field. On collection a little later there was very little breast meat left as it pulverised the bird and the shot must have carried on and out through the birds skull as there wasnt much left. I can only assume that the shot clumped together, not had this before. I was using Eley Pigeon 32/6.5s, along with a couple of non-ejecting cartridges and a couple of misfires I have lost confidence in this budget brand. Advice greatly received..
  5. I have to say that a non-firearm air rifle 11-12ftlbs at point blank is a pretty devastating tool, knowing the penetration it has at this range I would have thought it was more than adequate to despatch a caged fox. I would suggest any doubters borrow an air rifle and test some other similar substances to a foxes skull to conclude this issue.
  6. On a previous thread, construct a floating island with two pull ropes either side.
  7. I've just made a batch of sloe gin, I 've heard about adding the sloes after being used for the gin into a cider to make 'slider'. I've only ever made turbo cider using cheap apple juice, when is the best time to add the sloes - during the initial ferment? stoker
  8. Fantastic bag for a rough shoot, pheasants on a freebie rough shoot are a rarity in these parts - green with envy!
  9. Steel for me, purely for cost reasons. So if out for duck and a pigeon gets up it doesnt break the bank! Unfortunately I think steel is going to be the load for the future the way things a shaping out grr.. best get used to its characteristics
  10. JDog firstly, fair play for taking them out to experience it. There certainly is a knack to pigeons as opposed to clays. Did the chaps take home and prepare the pigeons they'd shot aswell?
  11. Hawthorn berries, also known as haws - why is a pigeon crop like a brothel? coz its full of haws! BOOM BOOM I'l get my coat!
  12. I have a defender 90 hard top, and yes its **** compared to other vehicles in many ways - but I love it!! Its quintessentially part of the fabric of the countryside, a british icon for better or worse! For me I find it comfortable, although the longest journey i've done has only been a 350mile round trip in a day - no problems. I drive a Ford Ranger at work and whilst I love that too... its not a Defender! But, I would rather drive the Ranger on the road. If you have any doubts, don't buy a Defender.... If you don't care - buy one!
  13. How far does the back recline i.e. can you lean right back and will it take the pressure?
