  1. Sorry - yes April 5th for Carl Bloxham training session at ian Coley`s
  2. Carl Bloxham has a day on the 5th at Ian Coley`s just a coaching day, a morning and afternoon session, group of 6 shooters. £99 per session or £149 for the day, includes clays. Telephone Ian Coley`s 01242 870391 speak to Claire.
  3. I might be biased but any of the team at Ian Coley`s near Cheltenham, Shaun Porter, one of the instructors has been recommended on this site before www.iancoley.co.uk
  4. Looking forward to the Sporting Masterclass that Carl Bloxham & myself are running in late April at Manchester CSC, what a great ground. Look forward to seeing Nick T there and others from the Forum, promises to be a great day - couple of places left for those looking to have a technical and mental training day. Busy week that week - Sporting Targets Wednesday, Manchester CSC Thursday and then Auchterhouse Dundee on the Friday - book soon to avoid disappointment.
  5. A great event - well done to David Florent at Oxford Gun for all his work and enthusiasm. I am proud to sponsor the event and look forward to seeing more schools at the Bredon event.
  6. At the end of the day it is down to personal choice. Ian Coley`s wont be the cheapest around, but the facilities are unrivalled with covered stands, gravelled walkways, gunshop, cafe on Saturdays. It is a practice ground and shooting school, that has considerable investment made over the last 18 months. And sadly will have to include the dreaded vat in prices.
  7. there is a Masterclass at Sporting Targets on the 25th April with Carl Bloxham - see my signature for the link
  8. Ian Coley certainly can help, open Mon-Sat inc, from 9am-5pm, guns can be hired. You will need to make sure you have your certificate, otherwise you will need an instructor to go round with you. If you are looking to shoot on the Sunday too, then Steve Lovatt is your man and I am sure he can hire guns too.
  9. Not sure any gunshop or shooting ground will ever please any shooter on cartridge prices. Many of the arguements have already been given by some on this forum for why gunshops charge what they do. Everyone has to make a business profitable and gunshops are no different, equally you need to also look at gunshops or shooting schools that put something back into the sport too. It is very hard to judge apples with apples at some stages.
  10. Ian Coley Gunshop has a useful price comparison chart against one of the online cartridge sellers See it here

  18. For me, and I have been shooting for a good few years now. I always shot right handed, from the early days of learning with my Dad. I agree that shoot what feels natural for you, but also there are varying forms of eye dominance and also a fluctuation in eyes. Boys/Men will see a change in eye dominance as they go through puberty and as they grow, with eyes not properly settling until the mid 20`s, then it is not uncommon for the eyes to change again in the 30`s or 40`s, in terms of dominance. I had such severe left eye dominance that I eventually swopped shoulders and now shoot of my left shoulder. It took time to master this, but I shoot pretty well off the left now. I could have and there is no reason why I would not have, stayed shooting on my right, with a small smear of vasaline over my left glasses lense, this gave me full vision of a target up until the gun became mounted. As long as you can learn to shoot a way that means you can consistently break a target then it is not the end of the World. Yes most top shots shoot both eyes open, but some don`t. Your eyes are a muscle at the end of the day and you can get your eyes to do different things, there has been much research over many years on this in different sports and is a fascinating subject.
  19. dates and bookings for MCSC being added this weekend, early bird booking offer..
