  1. Get a remote, Cosd uses one and he is spot on with pulling the birds in with it, Ive shot with him and the flapper with him useing the remote , 2to3 second burst to get their interest from a distance let them take their line then another 2to3 second flap, final flap if needed 40 to 50 yards from the pattern for commital, once they look commited no flapping at all.

Having seen a turbo flapper in use as Cosd does definately a set up im looking at for a next purchase :good: .

Anyone wanna swap a turbo flpper for some Dippas

I just sold a remote unit with my old flapper as I found I spent more time concentrating on using it than i did the bird i was suppose to be shooting !!

  2. I am pretty sure it is illegal to shoot gulls anyway with the exception of the lesser black back I think (may be the greater)and even then you need a good reason under the general licence.

I dont think you mate sounds like the type I would like to see applying for a SGC. :hmm:

  3. Just a heads up for anyone who would like a pigeon shooters sized cartridge bag.

Aldi from tomorrow are selling a green fishing pag for 9.99 I have used one the same for around 4-5 years for my cartridges, it will hold 300ish plus has pockets for all those other bits and pieces we tend to carry ,very well made and a excellent padded strap, there is a pic in todays sun if your interested.

Looks like they are also doing cheap cammo 2 t-shirts 6.99 and trousers 9.99

  4. Murderers KILL THEM, Rapist's KILL THEM , Muggers of old ladies KILL THEM, Peadophiles KILL THEM SLOWLY, Fly tippers KILL THEM TOO.

Ahmm sorry  yes I am in favour of said motion.

I am a little concerned though that I have heard rumours of it becoming a capital offence to use 7.5s on pigeon

  5. I've had quite a few opportunities where I should have shot 100+ but didn't because of my poor shooting.

Is it that you are a poor shot or just get over excited when a decent day is on the cards ?

i ask as I used to shoot with a guy who would hit most things on the slower days yet when he was faced with loads of pigeons and big bunches decoying almost without fail went to pieces and could not hit a thing !!

So another key for a big bag is dont panic and if you have a bunch decoy pick your bird and stay with it only choose the next one after the first is down. :good:

  6. After reading this tonight thought I would go out on the flight lines. Took no decoys just went for it with a box of 28g 7 1/2's and some 30g 6's. Shot all the 7 1/2 first an I could see clumps of feathers coming off but no birds where coming down. I shot one about 20 yards away with them though and it killed it stone dead. That's the only one that came down. Then I moved onto the 6's which killed everything I hit stone dead.

To conclude lol, the 7 1/2's didn't seem to bring them down although definatly hitting them.

The only problem with that theory is you may have been hitting feathers instead of the pigeon inside them ;)

  7. Thanks for the reply guys...

Im off to look at a 97k tonight..

    Two stocks..original an hft stock.

    Nice scope...

    Not a bad price either..

Its had a bonny an clide tune???

Bonny and clyde , is a expert at tuning springers especially HWs so if its been looked after it should shoot very smoothly :good:

  8. I normally average at better than 2 for 1 but there are a lot of variables I can remember shooting 42 birds for 48 of the top of my head ,but on a bad day that goes out the window ! I changed gun around 18 months ago though and it has taken me until recentley to get back to around the 2-1 or less ratio

  9. 4 hours and only 4 pigeons i watched fields hardly a bird in sky so went to another farm loads on pulled down stubble got set up and started shooting at 12.15 got to 49 at 10 io 4 had too wait till 20 past 4 to get to 50 packed up and went home wife on day off amd we all no what that means

Does it mean you need to grow a pair and say not today dear I am having a good day on the pigeon ?

  10. I am fully aware of the law and the general licence , I have permission to shoot the land that the pigeons are over and unless my pellets are traveling over 100 acres I am fine! also the next nearest houses in the direction I am shooting is around 3 miles away.

  11. The pigeons over the last couple of days have taken a liking to the wheat growing behind my garden fence,i have some wires running paralell with my garden about 5 yards into the field and so far today I have managed to bag 9 birds off them with my trusty hw97 kt air rifle all neatly plugged through the noggin at around 20 yards :good:

I have a unwritten rule that any in my garden itself (which there often are) are safe but once over the crops on the other side of the fence they are fair game,a few years back I had about 30 in a week like this when the field had harvest peas on it.

  12. Hw77 or Hw97k both in. 22

Which one guys an why please...

    Thanks in advance..

Someone may correct me but I think they are basically one and the same with the 97 having a slightly higher comb on the stock for use with scopes,I have a 97kt and it a very accurate rifle mine is 177 though.
