  1. Another 4 yesterday from my 'squirrel highway'. All fell to my Air Arms S410 fed on H&N Baracuda Hunter Extremes. TOTAL 807
  2. My permission has a squirrel highway, you just have to wait.... Like buses, 4 came along at once Total 798
  3. Good going with that 52' What tuning have you done to your sidelever?
  4. My last chance to get out before a busy month at work. Arrived at my 14 acre permission at 8a.m. Climbed the gate and spotted jackdaws in the paddock. Made my way down slowly, using the barn as cover and slipped inside the stable. From here I get a triple view, the paddock, the orchard and the riding school. Using shadow at the rear of the stable I chose the target and 1 jackdaw down at 20 yards. An hour later a squirrel was making its way through the apple trees nibbling as it went, with the aid of my 'long' 52 and an RWS Superdome the squizzer nibbled no more. Finally after a tea break, through the faded perspex window I saw a grey figure on the drinking trough, moving around a doorway, the woody didn't spot or hear the camo'd silencer puff. Just a short morning visit that I was in two minds to go ot not. Glad I did now.
  5. Nice going with that Diana. If I could only get out and do half as good But this weather!
  6. As per my posting in Sporting Pictures.......... Just the one... 2911
  7. Good going with that 52. A much under rated rifle IMHO. What scope are you using?
  8. Sorry forgot to mention the rifle is a Diana 52 .22. I've short stroked the internals, for a quicker lock time. The added silencer makes it quieter, but then had to add weight to the rear of the stock to balance things up. At 51 inches long, this Diana is a big old girl to handle.
  9. Took a walk out with my rebuilt air rifle. Not much about except this buck rabbit, half concealed by brambles the H&N FTT pellet found its mark.
  10. First one in months. I hope more of the blighters turn up and meet my trusty Diana 1329
  11. Took a couple with my old Diana 52 yesterday. 2783
  12. Nice rifle and a good choice. I've got one in .22 and its accounted for many a rabbit, crow, squirrel and magpie and others. Happy hunting.
  13. I have Diana 52 and an older Original 52 both in .22 flavour. The Diana has been with me 3 years I use it almost weekly in hunting and ocassionally for HFT events. There are some critics of its weight and trigger. The weight I got used to, and find it is easy to hold with little recoil. The original T01 trigger, I replaced with the later T06 trigger, which has more adjustment. IMHO all in all,an excellent rifle. I have tried other makes of rifle, but they have all been sold on.
  14. Plenty here in the south. I counted 20+ flocking together in a field near Charlwood,Surrey. Couldn't work out why,as no obvious signs of food. Magpies are on the increase on farms around here. Shot 6 in a couple of hours with my air rifle earlier this year. Haven't been able to repeat such a morning since. Maybe next year??
  15. Many thanks Bob, I'll email you some details. Meadowman
  16. Is there an organisation or any recommended collectors who could an honest value some cartridges? My step father, who has been shooting for 70 odd years, has started taking stock. So far a box of 'SG' marked cartridges from the 1950's,Eley red cardboard type. Some cartridges from 1940's marked up as'squirrel cartridges'issued by the government, not sure of the gauge. Also 410 brass cartridges. Not too sure of the quantity, but they are on boxes. Would they be worth anything to a collector? Many thanks Meadowman
  17. Been down the springer to pcp route several times. Was going to buy a Webley Raider then a BSA R10. Eventually fitted a Vmach kit and spring guide to my Diana 52, topped off with a Diana silencer, smoother and quieter, that convinced me to keep the springer. At a recent local HRPC hft event, several people commented on how quiet it was. Self contained, quiet and pretty tough, ticks all the boxes for me. Try as many different rifles(local clubs are good) as you can before buying, you could save yourself alot of money.
