  5. Generally, do people find they see more birds on the foreshore when in a gale as tradition would suggest? Also, do guns hit rates increase or decrease in windy conditions? I found a recent session using steel in high wind infuriating. Lots of birds, lots of misses. Birds stalling against high winds would seem an easy shot!

From memory on my M2. Unscrew the fore end cap off. Take the fore end off. The end of the magazine has a internal surclip pressing against the tube internally.
  7. For anywhere where there are threads I use copper slip (chokes). It the threads are near bearings or a bearing surface I use a different grease as I don't want copper slip getting in there.

It's a simple process with a surclip forceps. I had to clean mine a few years ago. Sandy wet mud transferred to cartridges from my hands caused a small amount of rusty (from spring?) residue at the mouth of the tube which made pushing in a cartridge notchy and caused jams. It was quite hard to clean properly.
  9. I've recently bought a launcher with stock, mainly to replicate the mounting of the gun to improve steadiness. Does anyone have any tips for use, drills etc?
  10. Anyone any experience with them? I've never seen a working field spaniel.
  11. Emtec, mould taken of my ears, plugs arrived two weeks later. Comfortable and can hear everything except the gun report.
  12. Thanks Wigeon Man, must be a really pain to try an organise with all the variation. Would seem the guy on the tooling has priced himself out of it?
  13. .690 for a Benelli M2 (crio chokes). Using mainly No3 for duck.
  14. I was recently under a skein of Canada on the motorway for 1/2 a mile. I slowed to keep under them. They were doing 55 - 60mph with a slight tail wind.
  15. I had one for a few years. I loved it, but it's too pretty for Wildfowling. Very light gun.
  16. I think the blurb says that the new powder they are using increases its pressure slower? I would like to know what the reloaders think of this.
  17. It would seem that the lyalvale cartridges which I have use a malleable composite which conforms to CIP? I am assuming this allows similar choking to lead and bismuth? http://www.lyalvaleexpress.com/high-performance-max-game-hevishot-34-grams All the US manufactures seem to be using a hard composite? Ta, Lee.
  18. I keep my choke tubes in oiled containers so the threads always have a covering. It ocurred to me that may be I should be greasing the barrell threads instead? I was thinking about using anti-seize copper grease unless there is any reason this shouldn't be used in gun barrels? Ta, Lee.
  19. Are there any? Im just checking becasue at first glance I am getting very good patterns at 30m with 3/4 choke. I assumed that heavi-shot would pattern better with more open chokes similar to steel. Ta, Lee.
  20. Anyone know the shot count for the following cartridges please: Layvale heavi-shot No 5 32gm. Layvale heavi-shot No 3 34gm. Eley bismuth No 4 36gm. Ta, Lee.
  21. I'll get one then, all ready drilled for swivels. Thanks for all the replys and advice. Ta, Lee.
  22. Hi, I am thinking of fitting a sling to my beneli M2. Mainly so I dont have to put it on salty mud every time I need a free pair of hands. Any thoughts? Ta, Lee.
  23. There is a web poll running on the NI Marine Task Force website which gives visitors the option to vote in support of its work on the Marine Bill. In light of the threats to country sports identified in the Bill please visit the site and vote NO here: http://www.nimtf.org/ This will send an important message not only to the task force but to civil servants and political representatives in NI that a Marine Bill has to consider people's needs as well as those of wildlife. The RSPB, Wildlife Trusts and others have reacted to our vote NO campaign by starting a vote YES campaign. We are losing ground. The web poll will only allow one vote from your internet provider’s address. Ulster Wildlife Trust is encouraging voters to bypass this and register multiple votes via other computers, mobile phones and other internet accessible devices. Next week, BASC and Countryside Alliance are scheduled to give evidence to the NI Environment Committee about our concerns and this web poll will be referred to so it is crucial that the vote remains firmly in our favour. We expect to be called to evidence on Thursday so please email as many people as you can to ask them to visit the Marine Task Force website and vote NO before then. Please also post threads on shooting or angling forums you are members of, if they haven’t had this topic covered. BASC's website has been updated today, but it will be your support by spreading the word on email and on forums that will make the difference in keeping the NO vote ahead. The Marine Task Force consists of RSPB, Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, National Trust, Wildlife Trusts and others. Put simply they want legal powers to be put in place in NI to ban shooting and angling in every estuary, river and lake in Northern Ireland. Their web poll was meant to show widespread support for the content of a draft Marine Bill that they heavily influenced. Two weeks ago support was running at 97% until BASC and Countryside Alliance started to campaign for a NO vote. Support collapsed and the marine force partners were in shock. They called a meeting with BASC and Countryside Alliance. They wanted us to drop our campaign for a NO vote on their web poll. We asked them to support our amendments to the draft Marine Bill. They refused. So we said we weren’t dropping our joint campaign. Then the vote YES campaign started. The web poll will only allow one vote from your internet provider’s address. Ulster Wildlife Trust is encouraging voters to bypass this and register multiple votes via other computers, mobile phones and other internet accessible devices. The world has changed. The UK protectionist organisations do not have the government support they used to have. But we have to make our voice heard. Looking at the big picture this may appear to be a small battle, but if we win it, it will motivate further battles and more wins. Please do please email as many people as you can to ask them to visit the Marine Task Force website and vote NO Ta, Lee. www.doublehaul.co.uk
