  1. Hi mate have a chat with stevie b wales on here!! I had a chat with him about the primos power crow caller! He advised me to get one and practice with it, so i got myself one practiced for about a week, took it out decoying yesterday with one of my mates and all i can say is it worked brilliantly, shot a good bag of crows and jackdaws, ive had a few callers and the primos is the best by a long way!!!!! i was calling crows from along way out without a problem.... but it takes abit of practice to get the calls right!! get one you wont be dissapointed!!
  2. Good stuff mate!! keep em coming its all good info and low cost way of making decoying kit, somthing we all can make good use of to!!
  3. Hi guys im sure like me others on here would like some tips on decoying. I know the basics like keeping still ect but would like info on how to make the decoys work better be it changing a pattern or modifieing decoys or making things from scratch like flappers, floating decoys, floaters ect. Or any ideas! any info will be appreciated by alot of shooters on here and im sure put to good use!!!! many thanks M.W
  4. Used the primos power crow call today. Got my calls and callinf technique perfect, had birds coming from way out that were headed the other way. Superb peice of kit
  5. Il post how i get on tomorrow with this new permision. Im hoping to bag around the 70 mark as they seem oblivious to me when i reckied it last week..... But that means nowt realy it boils down to how they are ob the day, many a time iv been sure of a big bag and it went the other way.... none the less i enjoy the constant learning curve these unbeleivably clever birds take us on.... 6. No idea mate depends what it neads. Being italian the barrels probs sit on stub hinge pins, these are probably slightly worn and may need replacing to acheive a tight action! I saw a article on an aya no4 boxlock sbs having work done to tighten it up, it cost £100-150. Probs entirely diferent job all together mind! If it aint bad i wouldnt bother!
  7. I would never have saw that coming......
  8. Magpies jays fox yes but crows how ever are to clever it will work a couple of times but they get used to that same call. Obviously i mean on one permision! Get some manual callers far better wen you learn to use them!! Again i know alot who use the u caller when decoying to take pics that is lol
  9. did they get wise to it quick? They are blummin clever and dont forget in a hurry!!! Im on on sunday at a permision thats wick with em and never been shot..... Looking forward to it!!
  10. Eager to try the pole trick i reckon it would be dynamite up ere.... As crows are as common as muck, plenty to shoot at if you can fool them!! Noticed he used a rotary aswell tried this a few times and it just kills the sport as soon as they get within 60yds of it?? M.W
  11. I aggree there it was good shooting wise but as you say not many secrets let out the bag. I shoot a hell of alot of crows regular with a couple of my freinds who are also pw members, but he didnt do much different to our methods!! I did enjoy watching it tho. Wish i was ther to clean up the missed birds haha lol...... Iv never had any luck with owl decoys so i just stick to what i know works!! my mate uses a 17 hmr out to 200+ yards on the crows, knocks em bandy............
  12. Hi just been watch the chris green volume one criw shooting dvd. Any one used what he calls a play stick? It a flexible pole atatched to a flying crow decoy. The pole is mounted on a hinge pivot and then pull'd using rope. Looks very effective!!
  13. I didnt read that quote properly before replying. I shoot them myself cant stand any of the corvid family as they predate on young birds as you say. Appologies for the mix up i wrote it on nightshift lol
  14. i genrally shoot with my mates mostly decoying but we do hold our own clay shoots aswell as atending other formal shoots. My job requires me to work shifts so at times my shooting pals cant make it out, so i go on my own no shame in that lol i sometimes prefer to shoot alone, i find i concentrate more and also gives time for thought, its a break away from work and home ect. Iv always been a keen shooter and enjoy being out in the feild, the average joe probably wont see half the things iv seen!! And thats in there entire life! Iv seen stags rutting, the sneeky old fox asleep under the oak tree on a summer morning, or even a buzzard that tried to take one of my crow decoys!! To be honest if my mates gave shooting up, id still go and enjoy it just as much!! What can i say i was born to shoot:-) Have you thought of asking on here for any one who may be looking for some1 to shoot with? Or maybe join a club/syndicate? whatever you decide mate keep shooting and enjoy yourself , just remember shootings not just about the sport its also the sights and experience that comes with it. regards M.W
