  1. Sounds like it was a great one! I was planning on going, but SWMBO got in the way :-( See you all at the next one hopefully! P
  2. Thanks for the responses guys. Lesson learn't, just gutted it was the hard way. Incidentally Cooter, you're spot on, the assistant is a lovely fella.
  3. So the other day when I was looking at some guns round at Wabbitbosher's he came across these two plates from an old sidelock. I thought I could make something nice out of them and bought them off him for a very reasonable sum. They Say "P Jeffreys" on the side. Here's a picture of what they looked like after I had ground a square lug off the back of them both. The next step was to buff one of them to a high shine with a combination of very fine wet and dry paper and a selection of buffing wheels/compunds. Here's a picture of what it looks like now. So here's the question......What shall I do with them now they are more aesthetically pleasing? I was thinking of making them into a money clip or something. Any thoughts appreciated. Ta Paul
  4. Balls, that is what I feared! I bought a knife in there today and have since found it for much less online, so you are right about the prices. That'll teach me for not doing my research beforehand. Ah well, shame as I've moved to Letchworth now from Hatfield thought it was going to be handy to have a local gun shop instead of having to trek down to Park Street. Where do you guys normally go anyway? P
  5. Hey Guys, Bit of a question for the North Herts Guys. Do any of you have any experience of the gun shop in Letchworth called "A Different Calibre"? I'd be interested to hear any views or experiences. Many thanks Paul
  6. Nick, I have some definitive answers to your specific questions. I work for the water board round here. I am assuming you're not on a meter. What area are you in btw? Yes, sometimes people are asked to pay a year up front, nothing unusual there. Not the most common, but I've certainly known it. The other posters are probably right, it was probably the previous occupiers payment schedule that has resulted in the property being tagged for payment in advance. Yes, you can tell them to sod off and you'll pay quarterly or monthly or weekly if you like. You can indeed not pay it, however I would speak to them first. Whilst no water company in the land can turn off a residential customer (this is absolutely the case with no exceptions) they will pursue you pretty hard if you just flat out don't pay it. So far as the water ombudsman goes. There are two bodies to write to, these are The Consumer Council for Water and OFWAT. You can get their details off the web. I suggest you write to the Consumer Council and Cc. OFWAT. Any other queries just drop me a PM. Paul
