  1. You're right, i worded it incorrectly. Ill gladly accept ECHR over nothing and gladly accept a writen/codified constituion over what we have now.
  2. Tyranny of the majority Threads like this show perfectly the ability to manipulate people with fear/anger. It's not perfect, but its better that what we got now.
  3. The populist whim of politicians has given us draconian gun laws and a pathetic excuse for "freedom of speech" among other things. I will gladly accept another layer of protection (ECHR, written constitution) over what we have now.
  4. £2700 is indeed insane. Get something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-318-OE&groupid=43&catid=2475&subcat=2486 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-327-OE&groupid=43&catid=2475&subcat=2489 i7, 16gb ram, 2/3gb gfx card. Half the price, and excessive in itself. Will last 5+ years. I brought a £750 one from there 4/5 years ago and only now showing its age.
  5. This is where i got my build from: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=43&catid=2475 top quality building.
  6. Link/spec so we can compare?
  7. Correct, And i would like to protect what little "privileges" i have. and the ECHR seems to be best we have at the moment, As i say what else do we have? The populist political whim of politicians ? no thanks...
  8. Sounds exactly like the people here! For now, Ill always vote in favor for the ECHR.... what else do i have to protect my rights? The goverment? The good will of the ever so sensible public? no thanks.
  9. I too am English and have been all my life including as many generations as you want to go back. Point still stands.
  10. it's all still minority cases, people in this country are far too willing to give up something everyone has because of minority abuse.... Shooting spree? ban guns, Somebody said something mean on facebook? restrict freedom of expression and speech ... it's pathetic. The European Court of Human Rights stopped police being able to stop and search you for no reason. Where was the outrage against the evil ECHR then? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8453878.stm
  11. We shouldn't make laws on extreme cases, whatever protection he has we all have! Yet people are willing to lose that because of one case... Crazy.
  12. Sticking two fingers up by enforcing UK law? How is that even possible... The majority would probably ban most if not all guns, They must be right then? We would also be subject to the ECHR out of the EU due to the Council of Europe (being a founding member).
  13. UK law was broke. Being in the UK he is subject to the laws. That's how law and civilized countries seem to work. Law isn't (at least currently) imposed by the emotional response of the majority. What a pathetic state we would be if that was true.
  14. Modern and civilized to have rule of law for all. Its pretty much the very definition of uncivilized to suggest execution without trial. Again, Why don't you move to one of these lovely countries that have mob justice and public beatings for criminals and let me know how nice and civilized it is? What is it with people and Straw man fallacy on subjects like this? I could not care less about the individual in question.
  15. We don't freedom of speech in the UK, why would we have it on this forum? We have a limited right to freedom of expression thanks to the Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, something people here don't seem to want.
  16. You mean the view that one rule of law for all? yeah it must be terrible living in a modern civilized country, If people want mob rules, why don't you lot go live in some 3rd world **** hole that has mod justice, street lynchings and other such fun all in the name of teaching pedos and rapists a lesson? Send me a post card to let me know what its like.
  17. I have no problem with this.. UK law was broke: Also the ECtHR is an entirely separate body from the EU. It was drafted by the Council of Europe of which we where a founding member ! hell the treaty was signed in London. Threads like this simply remind me how much we need the ECtHR, the masses seem all to easily manipulated once you start throwing emotional words like "rapist" or "terrorist" people simple abandon civilized principles for foaming at the mouth justice.

  20. America may have come in late, but the lend-lease act sure helped.
  21. Presenting both sides would be allowing Al Gores film And whatever film that counters it. Banning Al gores is pretty much the complete and utter opposite of allowing both sides in a balanced way, its banning one side! Its pathetic. "i'm going to allow both sides of the argument here, but if you oppose my side of the argument your banned" Great, "small Government" for ya,
