  1. Have you folks over there seen this sneaking along ?

    https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/bill-to-outlaw-hunting-with-dogs-in-northern-ireland-a-historic-opportunity-39898115.html

They plan to stop all sorts including even a gun dog hunting to close all the loop holes.

These nutters are pushing it as much as they can.

    There is a survey here

  2. I am right in reading this that woodcock and snipe are to shoot on a Sunday please ?

    England and Wales

No game may be killed or taken in any county on Sunday or Christmas Day. Game for the purposes of this section means pheasant, partridge, red grouse, black grouse and hare.

Looks to be the case by the above but just double checking

  3. You can shoot in england now

In light of the government providing greater clarity on its Covid-19 guidance and regulations, BASC is advising that outdoor shooting activities as a form of exercise are permissible once per day in England during the national lockdown, subject to two conditions.

    1. You should only travel locally to shoot which is to “stay local in the village, town, or part of the city where you live” as defined in government guidance.
    2. When shooting you should only meet with people you live with, your support bubble; or when on your own, with one person from another household.

If you cannot comply with these conditions, then you must not shoot as a form of exercise. To do so would place you at risk of a fine and may jeopardise your shotgun and/or firearm certificate. If you have no local shooting available then you will have to take your daily exercise in other ways.

But it beggars belief what the hell is wrong with wales

  4. I wouldn't get a recoil pad for the recoil that is fine but maybe help with fit if that is an issue. But the one thing I like about my sxs's is they handle so well and i shoot well with them due to them being quite short in the stock I think.

I have an hatsan semi and it feels like a telegraph pole and I find the stock way too long. It came with spacers but I think they are to extend it not reduce it. So I will look into that as the rubber one it comes with is too chunky

  5. Every one is jumping on the band wagon. Woman on FB now advertising cocker pups 2500 each. Look through her posts and you can see she bought the bitch pup in 2019. She is making them appealing and legally docked kc registered etc. But its just a money maker. So another pile of unproven pups. Just amazes me people pay it

  6. I have a lurcher at the moment but as I get into shooting more my next dog is likely to be a gundog. Watching spaniels working on youtube espeacially rough shooting they constantly cast back and forward. Why don't the just use there noses more and save energy ? My lurcher has a terrific nose and I can walk him into the wind up a hedge row or through a wood and he finds stuff no problem. From woodcock to rabbit's and any thing else I want him too. So why do spaniels feel the need to go like a bat out of hell back and forward. Just curious is all

  7. Mental health is important. Here in Wales we were stuffed before Christmas. Say you got a family with possibly some one who is ill. Your not allowed to visit or mix. Christmas was basically a right off. Getting out for a few hours on your lone some would be good for the mind and clear the head and have a reset but they take that away as well
There is no reason at all not to pursue your hobbies locally be it walking or driving.  I am lucky I live on the edge of a suburb so can get into the fields to walk me dog etc but loads of families are not so fortunate and it can't be easy for them

So, you can you  go wildfowling as long as its close to your home and you are not moving through different counties .

And its preferable that you do this on your own ?

That is the question I want clarifying. I get the you cant travel bit. But anglers can walk to where they want so can shooters as long as they don't mix ? I have spots in walking distance

We are in full lock down in wales which the equivalent of level 4 apparently

  9. Here in wales he should have done a local lockdown only from word go. This allows people to at least do a little bit and keep sane. Keep all pubs and schools closed straight away that closes the worst spreaders. Restrict border crossing as much as you can and support any businesses that suffer. You maintain that for a long time. All this brakes right on and off just does not work

I've started using smaller shops and farm shops as much as possible, there's a dairy farm close to me is now selling their own pasteurized whole milk. You buy a litre bottle from them, then it's a quid to fill, wash your bottle then pay your quid for a fill, it's like a coffee/vending machine style operation. Think it's a good idea as they are getting a good fair price for their milk and you can really taste the difference. I love to support the local businesses

We have one of them i call some times and yes you are right
