  1. I can only reccomend what I have... so the Winchester SX3 is good and has never let me down. I think all the new semis are good though so get what fits you and what you like id say! I've always wanted a Benelli...
  2. Guys, Thank you for the replies and useful advice. Genuinely appreciated. Dave
  3. Noted. Thanks. I wouldn't attempt that. Cheers for the reply:) Thanks for the reply walker. It's got a while before another shoot so it will be let to dry slowly. Oil finsihed, yes. Will apply oil once top lever isn't catching. In terms of taking it apart; barrels, hand guard and reciever/stock for basic maintainance. I haven't and wont remove any wood from metal. Dave
  4. A reassuring comment to read! Thanks oowee. It really did get wet yesterday... more so than it has before! I've tried the gun again today and although it's still rubbing it is better than yesterday. Once dried thoroughly I will put some wood oil on it Dave
  5. Cheers for getting back to me mate! I don't understand why this has happened? The gun has been faultless and has been wet before. I regularly oil the wood after a shoot. It was bought new in 2016 and hasn't been used extensively by any stretch of the imagination.
  6. Hi guys, First driven day for me yesterday. Good start to the season apart from getting soaked!!! My gun was fine all day, however when I got home I noticed that when closing the gun the top lever wouldn't re-centre! It was stuck in the open position.. Never seen this before and it has never happened on any of my guns before after getting wet. Any suggestions? I was able to close the gun and then manually realign the top lever and then open it again but it was rubbing the wood. Thanks guys, Dave Its a Beretta 690 Field iii by the way.
  7. Brilliant photos as per GG Stu, I shoot quite a bit with Canon kit too and if you're going for a new body and lens I can't reccomend enough the 7Dmkii and the Sigma 150-600mm Contermporary lens. I shoot Canon Full frame too, but for birds in flight I will never, not use my 7Dmkii. Plus a massive advantage to APSC, like the 7dmkii, is you're getting an extra 1.6x closer to your subject because of the crop factor... If budget wasn't an issue I would be swapping my 150-600 lens for a 500 f4 prime, however! If you like I can send you a few example images that have been taken with my 7dmkii and sigma 150-600? The lens also comes in Nikon mounts if you do decide to stay over the dark side All the best mate, Dave GreenGrass... appologies for the thread hijack!
  8. Interesting thought I hadn't considered... Cheers for that Robbie
  9. Ormskirk mate yes. Cheers all for the replies. Picked my car up today and it's sorted.
  10. Hi everyone, Bit of advice needed really.. My car is a VW Golf 1.6 DIESEL, DSG. It's 5 years old with 37,900 on the clock. Service and MOT were due together two months ago in August. At the time it wasn't the best to get it done at the Vw dealership so decided to get them both done at Kwik Fit. Picked the car up, happy with the service they provided and thought that was it. All was great until the other week when I noticed steam / white smoke coming out of the engine. It was very faint and initially I thought it was coming from the exhaust from the car in front. Anyway, this persisted at random times and decided that it was coming from my engine and I was going to have a look. Opened up the bonnet to find the dipstick hanging out and the entire engine bay covered in oil!!! Sunday night driving, warning light appears - 'Battery not charging.' Got home and power steering started feeling a bit odd.. Next day at 17:00 hours I was going to work and car was fine initially but then 'Battery not charging' light came on. I got to work no problems but as I was reversing into a space, the power steering really felt like it was going and the warning light for that came on too. Fast forward to 6am the next day, car really struggled to start. Almost home and the gearbox kept fluctuating in and out of gear.... every single warning light and warning sound the car has popped up, I lost all drive and the steering froze solid!!! Fast forward to today; VW have said my alternator is broken and it could've been replaced if it was drenched in oil!! This is now a hefty bill because of a serious rookie error made by Kwik Fit! Where do I stand with this and what should I do? I am fully aware Kwik fit aren't going to have it that they left the dipstick unattached. But, is there anything I can do at all do you think? Just an added side note - VW Assit were superb. With me within half an hour - gave a road side diagnostics of damaged Alternator and gave the battery a bit of juice and followed me to my dealership. Then took me to the courtesy car depot which was 35 mins away! Can't fault the service from VW just that from Kwik Fit. Cheers in advance, Dave!
  11. Hello mate, unfortunately im up in Lancashire, my name is due to my first gun being a Winchester! Sounds great fun. Good luck with finding the finishing articles Dave
  12. Hello mate, not what you suggested but have a look at the Winchester Select range. I got one as my first gun when I started out, and it has truly never let me down. It a fantastic gun and I will pick it up over my substantially more expensive Beretta 690 Field 3 Deluxe Ltd Edition. It will happily do whatever you ask of it - fowling, clays and it won't look out of place on a driven day. Miroku, Browning and Beretta you really will not go wrong with but have a look and a feel of a few of the Selects to see how you feel with them mate anyway good luck and you'll be made up with whatever it is you pick, I'm sure Thanks, Dave
  13. Great collection. I've only ever fired and SMLE and No.4 but many years ago. I've always wants to have a go with the a K98 and Mosin Nagant! Me and my dad had a collection of ww1 and ww2 deacts which included a lovely 1940 K98 and a No.4 and SMLE amongst others, which have now been moved on to fund shotguns etc. I have always been fascinated by military history and weaponary so I really appriciate your trio there! Cheers, Dave
  14. Never fail to impress with your images GG superb capture!

  16. I was around 1 meter ish! Cheers mate Thanks for viewing Thank you! Cheers for viewing Cheers GG enjoying full frame! I think I will use 6D for everything now other than Birds in Flight - 7Dmkii is still king for that!
