  1. I've spent much time in hunt service, 410 will do the job fine but horses have tiny brains and kick like a kicking thing even when dead. 20s work quite well to be fair never used a 12 on one yet.
  2. I am stingy, very stingy lol I've never spent more than £500 on a gun if I'm honest, my favourite shotgun is my old baikel I think it's brilliant I only use two shotguns. Are the Instarm 20g that bad? Cheers rob
  3. Good point never thought of it like that. Been that used to using 30gr 6 for that long, my old man always used 24gr for pigeons up until late. Cheers rob
  4. Mixture of both regarding her shooting I never ask her to come and every now and again she asks to come decoying. But I do enjoy her coming with me if I'm honest. She's used a 410 a few times on clays, just steady left to rights to get her confidence up and she's done well. She's used my 12 a few times with 21g 7.5s and got on ok but there just abit light for pigeons and stuff. Cheers rob
  5. Cheers for the advice lads and good point about the double trigger I never thought about that. I'll look for a old 20 bore if I see one around and get that. I may get the 16 for myself though ha ha Cheers rob
  6. She's 25 slim build and about 5ft 7 tall ish I think. She's shot my 12 a couple of times and I think I was too much for her. Having never shot a 16 myself I don't know what they are like. Oddly it fit me quite well my thinking is its only £50 so I should get my money back if it's no good for her. As other have said maybe a cheap O/u 20 would be better or even a 410 Cheers rob
  7. Hi all saw a 16g today for £50 it was just a double trigger sxs of unknown make model etc Would this be any good for the Mrs to use when she comes with me? It's not often it would get used but I've never shot a 16g and was wandering if it's a cheap alternative to a 29 bore? Cheers rob
  8. I've never had any issues with rounds until now, maybe it's just a duff batch? Some rounds are all over the shop yet other are dead on. I can't use them on live quarry until I'm certain everyone is bang on. But some were throwing out a lot of smoke and others the ballistics just setting of no way near the target Cheers rov
  9. Evening guys has anyone had any issues with these before? I was out lamping the other night and noticed on a couple of rounds that the ballistic went off before teaching it's intended target? Also on a couple others there's been a hell of a lot of smoke where others have just shot as per normal? I used this round for ages now as never had an issue until I bought 500 the other day Cheers rob
  10. I think trust are good carts to be honest. But there's so much snobbery around carts for some reason I used some of the no6 32gr for crows and the don't half hit hard. Cheers rob
  11. Hilux if you can, I've got a 2.5 d4d 60 plate and I can't fault it Cheers rob
  12. Hadfeild gun in Loughborough stock these mate. I'm unsure if they will post though Cheers rob
  13. I use these carts for everything not the best clay cart butni love um, used them on rabbits pigeons squirrels corvids in general. There a good hard hitting cart that doesn't break the bank. I think there's too much snobbery involved in cartridges personally Which means carts like this can get over looked. They are even fibre wadds aswell Cheers rob
  14. Thanks for the advice lads it's all very helpful. This weekend there will Be 3 new permission letter going in to be checked, one 600 acres, one 400 acre and on 20 acre the 20 acre will just be for 17 hmr, I'm unsure the 20 acre will be passed as they guy who owns it put in for a 22 a while back and it got turned Down but if you don't ask you don't get. Fingers crossed hay Cheers rob
  15. Hi all having had my section 1 for just over year I have closed ticket. I've got plenty of land with two farms on my ticket, but a good family friend is a contractor with a hell of a lot of land that they farm. he would like pest control on and has asked me to help him out Am I correct I thinking that unless the land has been fully passed by an feo I can't not shoot there with my any of my rifles as I have a closed ticket? I can use shotgun and sub 12 air rifle for pest control on the land that hasn't been checked with landowners permission is my understanding. Is there anyway to apply for an open ticket? My friend who I've shot with for about 10 years has an open ticket so am I just aswell taking him with me providing the landowners are informed and shooting with him as weare both fully Insured? Cheers rob
  16. Evening all looking for one of the above around the £300 mark Would consider a cheap single barrel though Located in Leicestershire Cheers rob
  17. What's the model of the yildiz lads? Underdog I'm a massive baikal fan if I saw one if snap it up. Cheers rob
  18. Hi guys could anyone recommend me a cheap ( up to £400 ) sxs or o/u ,410? Cheers rob
  19. Hi guys could anyone recommend me a cheap ( up to £400 ) sxs or o/u ,410? Cheers rob
  20. There are a hell of a lot of foxes about lately I've shot 20 odd this month. So I think many nights will be spent on foxes Cheers rob
  21. Thanks for the replies lads all information is good information so thanks for taking the time to explain what you do on your shoots. I think as said above I'll start small and work my way up and get to see where the birds want to be. Cheers rob
  22. It's has water yes two small ponds but there about 3 streams that run the full length of the ground. They tend to run all year but all be it slowly in the summer. Is it still worth digging out a new pond? Cheers rob
  23. Thanks again for all the help and sorry I didn't do a search I honestly didn't think lol Just between 6 of us all mates just a walked up shoot day, as for bag sizes I'm honestly not that botherd I'd be more than happy with 20 birds for the day and everyone takes home Afew birds to eat and we can alternate shooting between us. I'm not aiming to make a huge huge thing out of this it's just a hobby and I'm not worried about making money from it I think I'm just going to accept I'm gunna put a lot of time and money into it and see how I get on and do it for the love really. I've arrange for an ex keeper mate to come for a wander as I'd rather look into early and build odds and **** as I go along. Again thanks for the advice lads it's all appreciated Cheers tob
  24. Ok I'm sure I'll find someone to give me some advice, trying between 2-3 of us really. Got lots of hoppers and getting the feed won't be an issue. I have permission on the feilds adjoining yes would I be better upping the amount to around 500 and buying poults then? Thanks for the advice guys Cheers rob
