It wont be today - Just turning up some small brass bits myself at the mo.

They look the bees knees - I'll have a wade through the linisher thread later.
-
It looks like that linisher is working well - is it something you've knocked up yourself? Photos?

A few of these plots of woodland I've looked at have all sorts of strings attached, exactly what you can and can do - make sure you have a good read of the small print before you lay out the cash.

I can't believe all this talk of licencing airguns, I thought I'd stumbled on "Mumsnet" by accident. Yes, it was a tragic accident - probably caused by stupidity and negligence but I very much doubt if having a licence for the air gun would have made any difference. These accidents are so rare and the media so gun-phobic they are blown out of all proportion, there are far more kids killed in the UK by accidental suffocating with nappy sacks or drowning in inflatable garden paddling pools that with any sort of firearm, let alone airguns.
I would guess that many of those calling for licencing of airguns would also line up with those who thought it was quite acceptable to ban semi-auto centrefire rifles, after all, what normal person wants an AK74. Who in their right mind want's to shoot a military style 9mm pistol, it really won't hurt to ban then as well.
What do you chaps think about the current moves to ban .50 high energy rifles, who could possible want to shoot at something as dangerous as that at targets two miles away. And while we're at it, those nasty lever release 9mm military looking rifles - Lets ban them too, it won't effect many people and I'll still be able to go to the range and do a bit of proper shooting.
Personally I would like to see every school and scout troop have an airgun club and teach the kids safety and respect for firearms in a controlled manner.

You should easily be able to make up a suitable scale plate once you get it set up and work your ranges out. I know you're a "man who can", there are plenty of youtube clips on salt water/acid etching or a bit of printed circuit board etched away to leave the scale in copper or even printed on your computer then laminated and cut out.
Looking forward to seeing the finished result. Personally I wouldn't use the very fussy aperture with the extra filters etc. they don't go with the sight, either separate screw in simple apertures of varying size or an iris.

I guess you know that the odd spaced numbers from 2- 10 are hundred yard increments calibrated for the service Mk VII .303 round at 2,440 fps. (might need to re-calibrate for your air rifle)

Excellent stuff... Your sight dates from 1953.. The TZ indicates it a twin zero sight and the 3/53 means it's for the Enfield Mk 3 and dated 1953.

You can cut a rifle barrel to a minimum of 300mm in the UK, and it DOES NOT need to be re-proofed unless it can be demonstrated doing so has materially weaked the barrel.
It the case of the OP it may well seem that length will give tube magazine issues!
Much to the chagrin of the masters at the proof house who, I understand, are now stamping barrels at the muzzle to try to eradicate this insidious and evil practice. This, of course, is purely on the grounds of safety and absolutely nothing to do with empire building, mission creep or to protect their revenue stream.

My mate asked me to zero his 10/22. Wretched , rusty, uncared for thing. It put tens shots through the same hole at 25 metres.
I think it's a well established fact that there are a few accurate 10/22's out there, I heard one turned in in Nebraska a few years ago and there's rumoured to be one in New Mexico, although unverified. It's now been established that the one in the Smithsonian museum is a fake but there are still at least five unaccounted for.

Mate had a beautiful .32 S&W Long Manhurin which he swaged heads for. It was a delight to shoot bullseye with.
Beautiful high quality revolver - chap I used to shoot with shot very well with it. I was using a .32 S&W Long Pardini at the time.

I know I do it and it something I can’t control- been pistol shooting since 1984
Recenrly whilst shooting at my club I France I witnessed several ‘flinching’ moments , even from some top shots
Dry firing's the answer - and loads of it.
Also 10m air pistol shooting.

I quite except that the design of the average break barrel air rifle can lead to problems with sights in general and scopes in particular, so some creative tweaking with the mounts may be necessary. Any decent PCP or underlever design shouldn't really have a problem.
An average airgun scope, something like a Hawke 4-12 x 40 has a whopping 80 moa of adjustment. If the reticule is centred, you have the correct mounts correctly fitted and the receiver/barrel correctly machined and not damaged there should be plenty of adjustment to spare.
With a .177 air rifle (850fps, 7.4gn pellet, BC 0.01, 11.5 ftlb) and zeroed at 30 yards there should be enough adjustment from 5 yards at -25 moa to 100 yards at +27 moa.
The simple fact is, if you can't adjust enough for a zero at average ranges, there's something wrong.

I've held an E. Sussex FAC since 1973, since that time I've had fairly reasonable service but over the last 4-5 years it's been very good. Quick turnround for renewals and variations, often just a few days. Dee Semple is my FEO.

Ahh yes, the old up for down and left for right trick - that 'll sort it.

This was a coaching technique, I believe outlined by Laslo Antal in one of his books (1970's). The idea is to develop muscular memory in the trigger finger to attain the "surprise break" of the trigger.

The quality of most of the pistol shooting I see now is very poor, a dying art you might say. Yes, I know we can never go back, but I seldom see anyone try and shoot a pistol accurately. The only group who still strive for this sort of perfection are the dedicated 10m air pistol shooters. Anyone serious about improving their pistol shooting consider giving it a try, it's not easy.
When I think of the quality of ordinary club shooters, shooting regularly in the NSRA leagues, one hand, open sights PL14 targets, regularly scoring into the 90's compared to the average pistol jockey today. Two hands, some sort of scope/dot and lucky to get them into the size of a saucer at 20 yards. ?

The two most important skills to master in accurate pistol shooting, especially when talking about precision shooting, is sight alignment and trigger release. Poor trigger control is often masked by recoil, many shooters are completely unaware they are doing it. You only have to see someone shooting who has a misfire, ideally the pistol should stay in exactly the same place and just go click. To achieve this prefect release takes endless practice and the best practice is dry firing. Most good quality match air pistols have a DF mechanism where the trigger can be cocked and tripped without releasing the hammer spring. Two hours a day for a couple of month, aiming against a blank wall will help your trigger release no end.

Oh Dear!
Why, what's wrong with all your scopes or all your rifles?

That's interesting - not seen that before.

Spandit is the guy for this - Just up his street.
A workable but crude way would be with a USB camera connected to your android and actually filming the crony screen.
You could adapt this method I used here:

Ok Spandit - You win the bet, I owe you a pint.. I never believed you when you said you could generate four pages with just a simple bit of troll bait.
