  1. Got a couple of boxes of these to try out in the new Hatsan 20g, what is the general concensus on these cartridges? Not the cheapest but my local place sells them so thought i would give them a go. I also have a box of Hull Pro Twenty's (21gram) to try to see if the Hatsan will cycle those as well. Should be interesting on Sunday when we try them out. Are there any others that we should try?
  2. Just to add the brew now looks to have a good inch or so of froth on top, and the airlock is bubbling violently. Obviously just a slow starter
  3. And a quick picture of my dining room setup
  4. Thanks, I added the yeast as instructed (dry) by having started reading my new book they mentioned that it can be improved upon by rehydrating first I will report back tomorrow
  5. Thanks Come down this morning (12 hours after starting) and it doesn't seem to be doing a lot Should it be frothing or bubbling or is this normal?
  6. Went to the Happy Brewer today and go myself a full brewing kit Have just set it up now in the dining room. First question though, should I snap the bucket lid down and use an airlock or just leave the lid loose for the 4-6 fermentation days? I ended up with the Wherry kit in the end, and also have a demijohn to try some wine ready for Christmas. Very excited
  7. I thought today I would investigate why my sxs is hard to open after firing, sometimes it was stuck enough that you had to break it on your knee! It was only the first part of the break though and the cartridges definitely had drag marks on them from opening. I have just compared it with my other gun, and am surprised to see the pins stick out almost 3 times as much after firing. I then looked at the gun opening with my snap caps and this is definitely the problem. I have looked online and know how to go abouts shortening the pins, but how do I remove them from the action?
  8. Thanks for the replies Once the beer is brewed, how long do you have to drink it before I goes bad?
  9. I am a total novice but want to start homebrewing. What would be a good foolproof 'all in one' kit to get me started on and where is the best place to get them? Are some kits better quality than others? I guess it is worthwhile to get better kit to start of to re-use on future batches. Also how long does it take from setting up to drinking?
  10. Thanks guys and yes Cos i think i will do that Only managed to get around about 10 farms today, but had a small bit of success with 1. The farmers wife answered the door and said that they did have lots of rabbits on their land, and said she will pass the card onto her husband who will give me a call back. Fingers crossed, but i will still be carrying on relentlessly tomorrow. I am so determined now to get some permissions, i think the farming community will end up giving me a couple of fields just so i stop bugging them
  11. No luck from last week :( Had one farmer said he was happy for me to shoot on his land, but to check with his neighbouring farmer first as he likes to shoot too. Went to ask him and was totally dismissive, even though i wasn't even wanting to shoot his land Back out to another 25 tomorrow so hopefully will have some more luck.
  12. I have just bought a HW95, and so far am very impressed with the quality and how 'solid' it feels. I am still breaking it in at the moment though as it has only had 100 or so pellets through it. Very generous offer on the BSA, i would love to fix it up but unfortunately its a 8 hour round trip for me :(

  14. Well today I blew the budget and bought a brand new HW95. I thought I'd be better spending the money now and getting a great rifle as a keeper rather than buying cheap and buying twice. I have only had a quick plink in the garden but it is lovely and smooth and a good step up from the BSA. Very happy man
  15. Thanks I have spotted some nice hw80's and a hw85 that I will try and look a tomorrow. What do you think of this? http://www.gunstar.co.uk/Air-Rifles/Weihrauch-HW-85-gun-for-sale-gs81123.aspx
  16. Unfortunately my recent rifle purchase has fallen through so I am unsure what to go for now, as I chose that one as it was a good deal. I am looking for a springer for hunting and plinking. And have upped my budget to around £300 but less if possible. There is a lovely new HW95k locally for £300 which is very tempting, but they also have a s/h HW99s for £185. I have also seen good reviews for the Hatsan 85x and that can be had new for £150. Such a dilemma as I don't have my heart set on anything, but want something I can keep for years and be proud of. What would you get? Also if anybody can find any suggestions local to Bedford (50 miles) that would be great, as I really want to by face to face.
  17. On the A1 northbound near Hitchin. He was running about on the hard shoulder, and looked the same shape and size as a red squirrel, but was pure black Has anybody else seen one before?
  18. Thanks As ususal the bits have to come from Hong Kong, so it may be a couple of weeks. Up until then i can get planning and building my IR torch though
  19. Night shifts are dangerous for my spending I will update here when all the parts arrive, but i should have a working recordable night vision set up for around £40 after drawing some inspiration from lots of other threads on the net, and may provide some new ideas for people who fancy building their own night vision (although knowing me it has probably been done before using this kit) The main difference with this build as it should be wireless, so could be interesting (if it actually works) I don't even need it, but i just like building stuff i guess But you never know, it might come in handy in the future
  20. I have just ordered the bits as detailed in the first post. Getting a bit ahead of myself as i haven't even got any permissions yet
  21. I have just put my BSA Meteor up for sale on gunwatch. I could sell that with scope for £100 + Postage if you were interested?
  22. Money just sent Thanks washerboy if you could find a link that would be great
