  1. Hi, are you still looking? I have a a-tec for 125£
  2. As in what am I shooting and in what conditions? In what order should my priorities be? If I raise the comb my eyeline will be higher and will therefore be able to have higher mounts and in turn can look at maybe a 3-9 x 50
  3. Greetings Just got myself an a-bolt .223 and im now looking for a scope, but because I have to have low mounts I can only fit a x40 scope. Any suggestions? What do people generally have on theirs? Im also on a budget, around 80 to 100 pounds. So second hand might be the way to go. Would I be better off putting a comb raiser on the stock so that I can get a bigger scope? Help me please! Cheers
  4. Dont be silly. The Black Crowes. Ha ha ha
  5. Sorry i know there is a sticky but it's to a different page on BASC The entity to which cheques are payable has changed recently hasnt it? With regards specifically to Norfolk Constabulary, can anyone tell me who I need to make my cheque payable to? Thanks
  6. Congrats! Put in for your FAC now if I was you whilst they are obviously in the middle of a 'quiet' period.....
  7. Update 2, missed a call from the FEO on Sat to say he has my certificate ready to deliver once he has checked my ammo cabinet. Woohoo. He only works weekends though and one day in the week! Doh Hopefully get it tomorrow. Anyway, point is, just over 3 weeks start to finish is pretty impressive work by Norfolk Police, so hats off to them!
  8. Oh and also, I believe these convictions will simply no longer be divulged on CRB checks for job applications. I am unclear as to whether Police will have to wipe records from the Police National Computer all together, as they could quite rightly argue that it is in the public interest that they retain this information, even if its only the Police that have access to it.
  9. My understanding is it is only the records of non serious crimes that will be purged and only in instances where there is only one conviction. Repeat offenders will not benefit from the change in legislation. Further, if you are an individual with one minor conviction that has since become been spent, the sentence you received at the time is unlikely to prohibit you from firearms ownership under the terms of the firearms licensing act, and one would assume enough time would have lapsed for you to demonstrate to the Police that you are rehabilitated and not a danger to the public. An FEO is likely to take a dim view of someone that has decided not to declare their solitary conviction on the basis of "I thought it would have been deleted under the terms of the new legislation" as it hardly smacks of honesty and genuine remorse. In my view you are far more likely to curry favour if you are open and honest with your application. If in the unlikely event an application was declined as a result of a minor spent conviction and that individual had not since come to the notice of the police, i would say they would have pretty good grounds for appeal.
  10. Well I'd say that would be fairly draconian. One may not remember the exact details, particularly if they were 15/20 years ago. Rest assured the police dont just 'take your word for it', they do check the PNC. Really they are looking for honesty here, so long as you answer to the best of your knowledge and provide a covering letter to explain if you dont have all the details/dates etc then that is satisfactory.
  11. Update: They received my app on monday the 13th of May, had a visit from the FEO over the weekend.
  12. Just submitted my FAC application last week. They were really quick with my SGC last year, very efficient 3 week turnaround. Does anyone know what the wait times are like for FAC applications at the moment in our area?
  13. These guys have just started out on a family run farm and having been on a couple of the first few days they have held I can say they put on some great targets. Really friendly guys running it and there's one coming up this Saturday as well as a festive shoot the following weekend. Anyway the details are here - http://www.chalkfarmclayground.com/
  14. Hi is the Camo 30" one still available please?
  15. Are you buying this buddy? Or are you getting a different gun from him?
  16. Woohoo! Got me my first permission today. Having asked one of the local farmers at the beginning of the year and being aggressively knocked back, was pretty disheartened and didnt ask anyone else until today. Was driving by a local field which has just been drilled for wheat and ive never seen so many pigeons! Came home google mapped the area then did a search for local farms, found the most likely farm from the list, went and paid the guy a visit today and explained that i had seen so many birds on there today and said i would love to help him try to move them on, told him i was full insured etc and he gave me the go ahead to have a crack this weekend. Awesome! Just goes to show not to be too disheartened even if any knock backs you get are pretty nasty! In this instance the benefit of getting someone on to the land was pretty obvious to the farmer and the guy that usually shoots it doesnt turn up that much, so i think all this obviously helped. So, shooting over drilled wheat, should I use fibre wads and can you think of any reason not to use lead shot? Cheers
  17. Hi Ditchman I'm in Downham Market Norfolk and would be very keen to shoot with you. I have a part trained Vizsla who is hopefully a cpl of months off from being ready as well if you need someone with a dog! If the phone call thing falls through then let me know. Thanks
  18. FAO Alan Do you have any details for this shoot at all? Cheers!
  19. Cool thanks everyone. Being a relative newbie I'm keen to do whatever i need to do to the gun before I inevitably use it on a rainy day at some stage. What oil should I buy to rub in to the stock to treat it? What does everyone tend to use? Thanks
  20. Leicpieon can you let us Norfolk folk know which shop you used? Or message me if you prefer, just would be interested to hear as ive had a cpl of dodgy experiences....
  21. Just taken delivery of a shiny new Beretta Silver Pigeon 1 sporter and I am uber excited to get going with it! Was shooting a Winchester Select but wasn't getting on with it so I'm so chuffed to get back on the gun I first had lessons with! Anybody else shoot either of these guns?
  22. Awesome thanks for all the replies everyone!
