  1. lets go knocking at the weekend then - you never know what might happen!
  2. Cracking writeup, and a couple of good bags. Well done mate! Oscarsdad and I are searching for some permissions, going to do some farm knocking this weekend, so we may be asking for some tips from the master!
  3. Chaps, Here's a link to the Vulcan's own page: http://mxm.mxmfb.com/rsps/wlnk/c/1216/r/21754/e/416.%20%0b%0b Should be good, lets just hope for a clear day! Jim
  4. Brilliant. The Hereford blokes I knew were all pretty normal, although they had a penchant for extremely long sideburns and particularly bad 70s porn star hair...
  5. Wootton Wawen - Just north of Stratford
  6. SGC turned up this am!

  7. I have to agree - the thought of being orderd to allow armed men onto your land to sort out the pests seems like a step too far. Whether this ever becomes law or not, re-invigorating the grey squirrel debate is no bad thing. I saw a red a couple of months ago for the first time in ages, and it made my day - my wife had never seen one before!
  8. chaps, Just starting pigeons on my own - what do you reckon is the minimum kit I need to get cracking? My cam and concealment skills are pretty good, so the hide and clothing isn't a worry, and I have a decent 12G O/U. I'm just not sure about the decoying side of things.... Any advice would be much appreciated! jim
  9. Hi chaps, thought I'd introduce myself. My name is Jim, and I live in rural warwickshire - just moved down from Sheffield when I got a job in Birmingham. with a Rolls Royce subsidary. In my previous life, I was an officer in 1st Bn The Yorkshire Regiment, so I've spent the last 8 years or so hanging around an armory. I also had the benefit of an open ticket for 50km of moorland, but alas those days are gone... I'm now quite enjoying getting back into shooting, I've got my SG Cert sorted, however have spent the summer bunnybashing with a .22 PCP, never realised it could be so much fun! I'm no expert on the pigeons yet, but I'm learning a lot from the forums about decoying and hide setup - I'm going to have to raid my garage and hope I managed to aquire a cam net from the last job methinks... Anyway, nice to meet you all, and if anyone can recommend a decent clay club near Stratford Upon Avon, I'd be much obliged - need to keep my eye in! Also, would love to tag along if anyone is doing anything in my area - happy to leave the gun at home and just come and learn some tips. Cheers, Jim
  10. Hello All, Firstly, thanks to everyone for the great advice I’ve found on here so far – I’ve learnt loads from just trawling the forums – it’s all good stuff! Now, about me: I’m an ex infantry officer (1st Bn The Yorkshire Regiment) who has come back to the real world and got a job in Birmingham. As a result, I’ve recently moved to Warwickshire (near Henley-In-Arden) and now I’ve sorted out the house, I’m looking to get back into shooting. In short, I thought I’d post on the off chance that someone has a few fields that they could do with a hand on. I am an early riser, so can do a few hours first thing or in the early evening. In addition, I can think of no better way of spending my weekends than sat in a hide waiting for the critters to come knocking… I am a full member of the BASC, hold a shotgun certificate and also have a silenced PCP for rabbits … Also, although I’ll never be able to shoot game, I’d love to have a crack at some beating, so if anyone knows of a shoot in or around Stratford-Upon-Avon who could do with an extra pair of legs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Cheers all. Jim
