Like I said Hares are fair game but you can't seriously describe them as vermin to be shot willy nilly.? They are a wonderful creature to watch and study.Beautiful in motion or still and the countryside would be sorrier without them.There are very few in my area ,I wish there were more.If your an arable farmer of course, your not going to pleased with them munching on your crops but they could still never be described as vermin, just as deer would not be.The Germans,Italians etc would love to have the numbers we do in parts of the country.

Some of the shots were unsporting but to say not to shoot hares is rather short sighted?Where there are big numbers ,then shoot them if required.I like a nice hare personally,lovely in a pressure cooker stew,tenderizes them a treat.Or "Jug" em in cider or wine! Bootiful! The Continentals DO EAT what they shoot,unlike many in Britain.
