  1. Amazon prime has the walking dead. Plus you get free next day delivery on certain items.
  2. The vet opened her up and inspected the whole GI tract and couldn't find any blockage, although he did say it looked like she had a bad lymph infection, they've taken a biopsy but doesn't look like we'll get any results before Christmas now, he's put her on two types of antibiotics and some meds to try and stop the vomiting. Apparently she also did an enormous diarrhoea poo on the table after she woke from surgery. The other half went to see her this afternoon and she seems to have picked up a bit the swellings gone right down, and was walking around and gave her tail a good wag as she walked in. She's not out of the woods yet but things definitely look better than they were. Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions, I hadn't even considered an adder at this time of year. After it was mentioned it did remind me that I've seen what I suspected was an adder only a couple of hundred metres from my house last summer, so I think they may be in the area.
  3. Thank you its much appreciated, I knew id be upset if anything happened to any of my dogs but ive got to say this has really hit me. My stomach was turned upsidown and I got really panicked when I home yesterday and saw how ill she was. The vet just phoned and said the ultrasound and x-ray are both suggesting there's a bowel blockage, he mentioned a sock or something, which would make sense as any opportunity she get she in the washing and will always run off carrying a sock. I'm relieved that they've found something, and he's going to operate now but he has warned me bowel operations are quite dangerous. Still doesn't explain why her face has swollen only thing I can think of is some kind of blood poisoning? im not sure whether this would cause facial swelling.
  4. Just spoken with the vet and she's not improved at all overnight, he's going to sedate her and do x-rays and scans to look for any foreign bodies. I've not seen her wee to know if there was any blood in in, ill ask the vet if she's gone to the toilet since being in. Id imagine she hasn't as she's been loosing fluid vomiting all night. Does anyone know of a friendly vet who wouldn't mind quickly talking on the phone? Thanks to everyone who has given answers, but im really getting worried about her now
  5. Thanks, hopefully shell be ok,. I've got to say I do trust this vet he does seem good from previous experience, im just hoping someone may have seen the same before.
  6. I'm wondering if it could be an allergic reaction, the swollen face certainly looks like you'd get from one. She has a temperamental stomach and only suits certain foods so id imagine she does have allergies. The vet did ask if she could have eaten anything unusual, we only have cleaning products and were pretty sure she couldn't have got any of them without us noticing. The day care she was at is a dedicated boarding kennel so I hope they have enough sense to not put any poison down, im going to give them a call first thing and see if they noticed anything. I'm hoping after she gets some fluids she'll improve because the poor little thing was in a bit of a bad way, she didn't even want to lift her head.
  7. Hi, I know this may be the wrong area but I'm hoping it may get a bit more traffic in here. I've just got back from the vets after taking my 8month old Lab pup in. Last night at about 2am she woke up and vomited undigested food (I had a quick look through it and found nothing suspect) Other than vomiting once she seemed ok, and was still running about as usual. This morning she still seemed fine but ate her food a little slower than she usually would, she went to the toilet fine and again was running about behaving normally. She went into day care with my other dogs today and when she was picked up she again seemed fine, no one mentioned any unusual behaviour. After arriving back home at about 5.30pm she tried to go to the toilet but couldn't, about half an hour later she vomited undigested food with what looked like a poo in it (last time she ate was 6.30am). Her condition rapidly deteriorated from then on, by the time I arrived home about an hour after this her face has swollen quite a bit mainly around the eyes and on her muzzle. She seemed really poorly, very lethargic and weak didn't want to stand eat or drink. I've rushed her to the vet and she's being kept in for blood tests and monitoring as well as going onto a drip. I'm quite concerned as she rapidly took a turn for the worse and was ill enough to get me quite worried. Initially I thought it maybe a blockage, but cant see why this would swell her face, the vet did give her a thorough check over and there was no hardness around the stomach or any sign of discomfort as he prodded her about. I don't think he suspects there is a blockage from the examination. The vet cant think of any cause which would mean both symptoms are linked, and thinks maybe they are two separate issues? Has anyone ever seen or heard of something similar in their dogs? Any advice would be appreciated Thanks Alex

    Warning.

Id imagine the problem has nothing to do with you leaving it logged in, but your password has been cracked. Mine was done a while ago and they send a load of emails out about job offers, presumably to try and get some sort of fee? Be careful if you have any info of other online accounts stored in your inbox, particularly if they share the same password as the account that was hacked, if this is the case it'd be a good idea to change the passwords on all of these.
  9. Id have thought in this instance putting a dust sheet down, and creating a trip hazard is not following the duty of care any worker/contractor is obliged to provide, protecting any party who may be injured as a result of their actions. Strange as it may be, consideration even has to be given to trespassers who may not be aware of potential hazards.
  10. Thanks for taking the time to draw that up, I really like that layout. I'm going to peg out an area and have a look with it sized out on the floor. Having the single access door is a good idea for an added bit of security. That's a really nice setup you have, im tempted to look at extending it to three and put my other dog in there too. Would 1x2m runs be big enough for them while im at work for a whole day? they'll be getting exercised before I leave in the morning, and let out as soon as I get back in. They'll probably be in there roughly 9ish hours? I've seen some flat plastic sheets that are sold for farms ect that look like they might be good for kennel walls and maybe even floors. https://www.teksupply.com/contractor/supplies/prod1;ts_polymax-ts_polymax_wallboard;pg106835.html http://www.birchfarmplastics.co.uk/recycled-plastic-sheets-boards.html Quite pricey, but can be used for farm stalls ect so id imagine they are quite robust.
  11. Yep 5cm puppy metal bars are the ones I was looking at, how sturdy are they? A few ideas on deterants might be handy if you dont mind, every little helps.
  12. Thanks to all for the feedback. im hoping to plumb the drain into the waste system, I originally planned to pipe it into the drainage ditch that runs along the back of where they were going, but decided against it when I realised that in the summer the ditch is dry it'll stink to high heaven, plus any disinfectant wouldn't do much good running down there. A drinking trough is a good shout thanks, it saves worrying about them running out of water in the summer when im not about. ill definitely look into putting one in. ok Thanks, any suggestions on prefabbed metal panel suppliers? im a bit paranoid about making the kennels as secure as I can make them, but no suppliers seem to be close to me to go and have a look at how strong the panels are. Sorry to sound a bit dopey but you got a link/name for a decent paint? my Google search isn't giving me a lot
  13. Hi, Im in the process of building kennels to house two labs, the area is approximately 3x6m in size, the plan is to separate into two sections, consisting of a square run with a 1x1m box inside I plan to have it built out of blocks around the back and sides and have metal panels across the whole front. At the moment in digging the area for the concrete pad, I plan to put a gulley drain across the front and have a slope running into the drain, but how much slope should I be looking to have over the 3m length? Does anyone have any advise for things to consider before they start to go up? any tips of anything to do with layout, making cleaning down easier ect would all be appreciated. Here's a rough idea of what I had planned, does it look ok to those in the know about kennels? Thanks Alex
