  1. Amazon prime has the walking dead. Plus you get free next day delivery on certain items.
  2. The vet opened her up and inspected the whole GI tract and couldn't find any blockage, although he did say it looked like she had a bad lymph infection, they've taken a biopsy but doesn't look like we'll get any results before Christmas now, he's put her on two types of antibiotics and some meds to try and stop the vomiting. Apparently she also did an enormous diarrhoea poo on the table after she woke from surgery. The other half went to see her this afternoon and she seems to have picked up a bit the swellings gone right down, and was walking around and gave her tail a good wag as she walked in. She's not out of the woods yet but things definitely look better than they were. Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions, I hadn't even considered an adder at this time of year. After it was mentioned it did remind me that I've seen what I suspected was an adder only a couple of hundred metres from my house last summer, so I think they may be in the area.
  3. Thank you its much appreciated, I knew id be upset if anything happened to any of my dogs but ive got to say this has really hit me. My stomach was turned upsidown and I got really panicked when I home yesterday and saw how ill she was. The vet just phoned and said the ultrasound and x-ray are both suggesting there's a bowel blockage, he mentioned a sock or something, which would make sense as any opportunity she get she in the washing and will always run off carrying a sock. I'm relieved that they've found something, and he's going to operate now but he has warned me bowel operations are quite dangerous. Still doesn't explain why her face has swollen only thing I can think of is some kind of blood poisoning? im not sure whether this would cause facial swelling.
  4. Just spoken with the vet and she's not improved at all overnight, he's going to sedate her and do x-rays and scans to look for any foreign bodies. I've not seen her wee to know if there was any blood in in, ill ask the vet if she's gone to the toilet since being in. Id imagine she hasn't as she's been loosing fluid vomiting all night. Does anyone know of a friendly vet who wouldn't mind quickly talking on the phone? Thanks to everyone who has given answers, but im really getting worried about her now
  5. Thanks, hopefully shell be ok,. I've got to say I do trust this vet he does seem good from previous experience, im just hoping someone may have seen the same before.
  6. I'm wondering if it could be an allergic reaction, the swollen face certainly looks like you'd get from one. She has a temperamental stomach and only suits certain foods so id imagine she does have allergies. The vet did ask if she could have eaten anything unusual, we only have cleaning products and were pretty sure she couldn't have got any of them without us noticing. The day care she was at is a dedicated boarding kennel so I hope they have enough sense to not put any poison down, im going to give them a call first thing and see if they noticed anything. I'm hoping after she gets some fluids she'll improve because the poor little thing was in a bit of a bad way, she didn't even want to lift her head.
  7. Hi, I know this may be the wrong area but I'm hoping it may get a bit more traffic in here. I've just got back from the vets after taking my 8month old Lab pup in. Last night at about 2am she woke up and vomited undigested food (I had a quick look through it and found nothing suspect) Other than vomiting once she seemed ok, and was still running about as usual. This morning she still seemed fine but ate her food a little slower than she usually would, she went to the toilet fine and again was running about behaving normally. She went into day care with my other dogs today and when she was picked up she again seemed fine, no one mentioned any unusual behaviour. After arriving back home at about 5.30pm she tried to go to the toilet but couldn't, about half an hour later she vomited undigested food with what looked like a poo in it (last time she ate was 6.30am). Her condition rapidly deteriorated from then on, by the time I arrived home about an hour after this her face has swollen quite a bit mainly around the eyes and on her muzzle. She seemed really poorly, very lethargic and weak didn't want to stand eat or drink. I've rushed her to the vet and she's being kept in for blood tests and monitoring as well as going onto a drip. I'm quite concerned as she rapidly took a turn for the worse and was ill enough to get me quite worried. Initially I thought it maybe a blockage, but cant see why this would swell her face, the vet did give her a thorough check over and there was no hardness around the stomach or any sign of discomfort as he prodded her about. I don't think he suspects there is a blockage from the examination. The vet cant think of any cause which would mean both symptoms are linked, and thinks maybe they are two separate issues? Has anyone ever seen or heard of something similar in their dogs? Any advice would be appreciated Thanks Alex

    Warning.

Id imagine the problem has nothing to do with you leaving it logged in, but your password has been cracked. Mine was done a while ago and they send a load of emails out about job offers, presumably to try and get some sort of fee? Be careful if you have any info of other online accounts stored in your inbox, particularly if they share the same password as the account that was hacked, if this is the case it'd be a good idea to change the passwords on all of these.
  9. Id have thought in this instance putting a dust sheet down, and creating a trip hazard is not following the duty of care any worker/contractor is obliged to provide, protecting any party who may be injured as a result of their actions. Strange as it may be, consideration even has to be given to trespassers who may not be aware of potential hazards.
  10. Thanks for taking the time to draw that up, I really like that layout. I'm going to peg out an area and have a look with it sized out on the floor. Having the single access door is a good idea for an added bit of security. That's a really nice setup you have, im tempted to look at extending it to three and put my other dog in there too. Would 1x2m runs be big enough for them while im at work for a whole day? they'll be getting exercised before I leave in the morning, and let out as soon as I get back in. They'll probably be in there roughly 9ish hours? I've seen some flat plastic sheets that are sold for farms ect that look like they might be good for kennel walls and maybe even floors. https://www.teksupply.com/contractor/supplies/prod1;ts_polymax-ts_polymax_wallboard;pg106835.html http://www.birchfarmplastics.co.uk/recycled-plastic-sheets-boards.html Quite pricey, but can be used for farm stalls ect so id imagine they are quite robust.
  11. Yep 5cm puppy metal bars are the ones I was looking at, how sturdy are they? A few ideas on deterants might be handy if you dont mind, every little helps.
  12. Thanks to all for the feedback. im hoping to plumb the drain into the waste system, I originally planned to pipe it into the drainage ditch that runs along the back of where they were going, but decided against it when I realised that in the summer the ditch is dry it'll stink to high heaven, plus any disinfectant wouldn't do much good running down there. A drinking trough is a good shout thanks, it saves worrying about them running out of water in the summer when im not about. ill definitely look into putting one in. ok Thanks, any suggestions on prefabbed metal panel suppliers? im a bit paranoid about making the kennels as secure as I can make them, but no suppliers seem to be close to me to go and have a look at how strong the panels are. Sorry to sound a bit dopey but you got a link/name for a decent paint? my Google search isn't giving me a lot
  13. Hi, Im in the process of building kennels to house two labs, the area is approximately 3x6m in size, the plan is to separate into two sections, consisting of a square run with a 1x1m box inside I plan to have it built out of blocks around the back and sides and have metal panels across the whole front. At the moment in digging the area for the concrete pad, I plan to put a gulley drain across the front and have a slope running into the drain, but how much slope should I be looking to have over the 3m length? Does anyone have any advise for things to consider before they start to go up? any tips of anything to do with layout, making cleaning down easier ect would all be appreciated. Here's a rough idea of what I had planned, does it look ok to those in the know about kennels? Thanks Alex

  16. Unfortunately because of the layout I cant have runs on the garage, would have been ideal but nt to be. Im going to have an old asbestos shed taken down from the corner of the garden and build some breeze block kennels there i think, im quite happy with the position its tucked out of the way, so cant be easily seen unless someone comes into the garden, and hopefully should prevent any nuisance barking. Anyone got any pics of breeze block/brick kennel setups?
  17. Looks like ill have to review some other options. I trust my dog walker to come, but ill have to consider options for if she goes on holiday or is unable to visit for any reason. Security wise I've not heard of any thefts locally to me but know its a bit of a problem in parts of Essex, and am a little worried as my garden can be easily accessed. I think ill have to just beef up the rest of the security around the garden and keep the kennel hidden from the road. Been looking around at ready to go kennel kits on the internet, what experience do people have of these, any recommendations for strong reputable suppliers? or am I better off building my own?
  18. I'm after some advice on kennelling for my dogs. I have three dogs in total, one will be staying indoors, and ill be looking to kennel two (currently pups) in the future. I'm a little reluctant to put up an outdoor run/kennel for them for several reasons, my main concern is security while I'm out of the house. I have a garage that im not using at the moment so am looking at putting up pens in there to house two dogs while we're out at work 8-10 hours a day. The area is approximately 2.5m x 4.5m (8x15 feet) I intend to separate the area into two sections, as the dogs are bitches, and I'm uncomfortable leaving two bitches in the same enclosure unsupervised for any period of time even if they appear to get on. The garage has two windows but neither offer any 'view' from them outside as they look out on a passageway between buildings, but it is warm and dry, and most importantly can be made secure. Does this sound like a suitable solution? I will exercise each before I leave for work each morning, and they will be let out and allowed into the house with free run of the garden upon our return from work. They'll also get some evening training and exercise after work. I can arrange for a dog walker to come in at least once a day, at a minimum to let them out for a quick run, but maybe to give a walk (possibly one morning and one just after lunch if needed, ideally one walk each as I want them to spend some time socialising apart). Does anyone have any experience of indoor dog kennels, is it too isolated for them? and does the size and setup sound suitable? Dogs in question are Labradors Any advice would be gratefully received
  19. If you have a couple of hours to burn, and a pc. I can highly recommend 419 eaters, its a website dedicated to scam baiting, people upon receiving these emails make up far fetched stories in reply, and tag the scammers along for humour, then post up all correspondence back and forth. Occasionally they catch the scammers bang to rights, and threaten to report them to the authorities unless they do stupid things like get tattoos and post the pictures (they still reported after iirc). I saw one where they had a group of people were performing a religious ceremony for a 'priest' where they had a series of pictures balancing loaves of bread on their heads. well worth a read if your bored.

  21. The way I view it that under almost all instances (the exception being someone driving like a tit weaving) if someone can easily undertake you without driving like Lewis Hamilton, your driving with poor lane discipline and shouldnt be in the way. Driving on the a12, m25 and a13 daily, you see an enormous amount of people sitting in the wrong lanes getting in everyones way. The worst being the a13 London bound where most of the time its possible to undertake 10's, sometimes as many as 30-40 cars at a time without altering your speed or even exceeding the speed limit. Throw in a few lorries and it makes a road that shouldnt be very busy, very slow and busy on a daily basis.
  22. ive just done a bit of reading, while your correct in regards to many jobs, generally more highly qualified/skilled individuals can still earn quite a bit more elsewhere.
  23. As already said these pension schemes are part of the job, and often make up for the fact that individuals could often earn far more if working in the private sector.
  24. Considering the proportions of people speeding compared to the number of people drink driving, I don't think those numbers prove a great deal. Id wager a good bulk of drivers speed to some extent on most journeys they take. Don't get me wrong I don't agree with excess speed in inappropriate areas, but from what ive seen the quality of peoples driving has more of a bearing. This is a generalisation but amongst the worst ive seen are old duffers who never speed but have absolutely no awareness of any other road users, have slow reactions and just pull out when they fancy. Upon speaking to these types they generally feel they are the best drivers on the road because they don't speed. I once saw an elderly gentleman who was pulled over on the hard shoulder of the M25 in evening rush hour, there was a constant flow of traffic passing at 40-50 mph (literally no gaps). To get back onto the motorway he indicated and without a gap just pulled into the lane from a complete standstill. I genuinely cant believe there wasn't an accident, tyres were screeching and cars had to swerve all over the place, considering how busy it was he was seriously lucky there wasn't a pile up with fatality's. Had a lorry been coming im certain there would have been quite a large accident.
  25. Does anyone else find it strange that the mum/woman doesnt pick the child up off the floor and carry him to safety after the attack, she goes running off in the other direction like shes running away as the cat returns? I suppose its hard to tell without being there maybe she thought it was comming round the front of the car and went to intercept it?
